Good lunch spot in downtown. Try the soup and half a sandwich. Barlow is attached, and looks like a nice late night cocktail spot.

I arrived here dressed completely inappropriately and no one batted an eye which was pretty impressive. Our server helped me choose a cocktail when I couldn't make up my mind between two of them (he gave me the info to make the right choice). We had the pea hummus and the fried chicken. The chicken on it's own is kind... More

I brought a group of 25 visitors to the Picnic House for a lunch stop during a day tour of Portland. In previous years we've done catered boxed lunches for this event and eaten in a park, but Picnic House was less expensive with better atmosphere, wonderful service, and MUCH better food! It also gave us an opportunity to sit... More

Decent lunch, nothing special. Meatball sub was tasty. Service ok. Why do "chefs" have to make everything seems so "special"? Its just a meatball sub!

As foodies we were shocked we had missed this hidden gem. Lunch was perfection. I had an amazing Brown rice salad and my husband raved about the mushroom soup and grilled cheese sandwich. We will be back for dinner.

The atmosphere at the Picnic House feels exactly like the name. There are two distinct areas with a more casual, larger area that has communal tables, and another area next to the windows that feels a bit like a fairy land with moss on the walls and quirky decor. The menu is on the smaller side with interesting, seasonal dishes... More

I really enjoyed this place. Just a few blocks from Pioneer Square. Airy with high ceilings and very very nice decor inside. Food is really good and waitress took time to answer questions. Drinks are excellent too and they have a good local wine list. Definitely recommended!

We ate really late in terms of their hours -- close to 9 pm -- and the bar was starting to close, which was a bummer. However, our server was really sweet and the food we ordered was quite good. Try the grilled cheese & tomato soup combo. My partner loved the mashed potatoes that came with his meatloaf entree,... More

However honest; I wish my review was more positive. Party of 4 middle aged professionals; well traveled; love food and drink but not high maintenance. Reservation was for a Monday night. Location, interior, menu and deliciousness of food all great... Place was dead at 7:00pm. However friendly our server was slow and not engaging. Food took too long to arrive.... More

The Picnic House has delicious meat loaf! Great flavor...especially with the bacon tomato jam topping. The fried broccoli & brussels sprouts were excellent as well. Would definitely return.
