What a gem! They have a huge variety of Vietnam food items. When we were in Portland, we visited there twice and tried a dozen of different things, rice cakes, puddings, green cake, Tofu, and soy milk, all delicious and reasonably priced. My favorite was sticky rice. Ordering was smooth and quick. All the items came well packaged. The staff was also friendly and patient.

Most of the customers stop by for take out. There are a couple of tables to eat at inside, but you still order at the counter. The clean space has a self serve bar lined with variations of tofu for lunch. Friendly customer service. Their lemongrass tofu is chewy and flavorful. They have salad rolls with tofu only or with shrimp added. The costs are so reasonable! One order of the melt in your mouth fried lemongrass tofu is only $3.25! And it is plentiful enough to fill you up. There are packages of fresh bread in case you want to make your own bahn mi (tho the place across the street sells them made to order). They offer dessert in the form of tofu pudding or layered jello. And you can buy blocks of fresh pressed tofu for only .70 cents each...what a deal!
A great place to pick up a quick bite to maybe take on a picnic?

I wish this was in my town! I don't live close-by anymore, and boy, do I miss them! So: I stop by every time I'm travelling through. Delicious sticky rice offerings, tapioca deserts, salad rolls, tofu variations. Try anything that looks intriguing to you - chances are good you'll be pleased. (P.S. - the special ginger kumquat preserve they sometimes make is great!)

I live in Portland, but on the opposite side of the city. I never fail
going into Bui (weekly during hiking season) on my way back from the Columbia Gorge or Mt Hood. They have the best salad rolls in town with the best peanut dipping sauce. My friends, family and I also love their fried onion tofu and their lemon grass tofu. This is a takeout place. If they do not have their salad rolls on hand they will make them up for you while you wait.

Always tried to make it out to here in Portland to load up on the freshest tofu around and snag some lemongrass tofu too. Peanut satay rolls as a snack always too! Cheap and p much as good as it gets as far as tofu is concerned. Portland staple!

I shop here regularly. Their salad rolls with peanut sauce (2-kinds) are outstanding. fresh tofu, deep fried tofu of all sizes. I love the seasoned pork-stuffed deep-fried pouches. They have a variety for coconut rice/vegetable items that are knockouts. I've had them apologies because the tofu was so fresh that it was still warm!!!

Take out only. Delicious Vietnamese dishes. Good value. We bought a lot from this place to store and eat a whole year because we're not in state.

Its a small store selling tofu products and different ready to eat tofu items. DELICIOUS salad rolls, fried tofu, fried sesame balls, sweet tofu pudding, fried spring rolls and more. Great little place to run in for quick lunch to take with. Love it. Always fresh.

Oh, I just love this place! Not really a restaurant, more of a storefront take-away. (Although there is limited seating, if you just can't wait.) This is Vietnamese tofu at its finest. Fresh, inexpensive, authentic and unique styles. Green onion with rice vermicelli fresh tofu, lemongrass and spice fried tofu, shrimp salad rolls, tofu pudding, filled mochi balls in ginger syrup, banana leaf wrapped rice goodies, bananas with coconut milk and tapioca, rice with green filled mochi, boiled peanut and coconut milk pudding, and on and on. They have a lot of things with pork, and some with chicken, but vegans can rejoice in the many non-meat offerings. (I don't think anything has dairy in it.) I used to come here a lot before I moved, but now I load up whenever I pass by this way. I just spent $30 and got 3 bags packed with good stuff that I'll be eating on for days. Don't be shy about asking for clues as to what is inside the mystery packages, and be brave in just trying things. A block of fresh tofu is 60 cents, a basket of fried lemongrass tofu is $3, a half-gallon of fresh soymilk is $2 - $2.50, sweetened/unsw. Most things cost $1.50 - $2.50, so you can try some of the tasty desserts. I've liked everything I've tried. By day's end, they may run out of the more exotic items, so get there early. Mon - Sat. they open at 9 am, Sunday, 11 - 4.

I have been here at least a dozen times over the past year and have never been disappointed with anything I have ordered at Tofu Bui to either take out or to stay and eat at one of the two!! tables in this little store.
The main business here is a Vietnamese oriented takeout store/restaurant focused on top-quality tofu based food. They also have a few other non vegetarian vietnamese specialities like bahn cuon and goi cuon ( shrimp salad rolls). There is a constant flow of primarily asian customers , ordering a variety of delectable foods to take home.
My suggestion to the newbie is ask the helpful employees, try what looks good and you will probably not be disappointed! Everything is prepared fresh and in limited amounts.
Arrive early for the best selections.
