I had the chicken parm sandwich. It was nearly charred on one side. The sauce was a little bland. Also had the barley soup which tasted like it came right out of a Campbells soup can. Not great.

Cool concept, slow service, no bread with main course. Nice wine by glass. Forgot me on second glass. Concrete floors lots of screaming kids echoing through out. Had Bolognese it was good not great.
The food was delicious. The wait staff was courteous and helpful in making a dinner decision. The strawberry salad was excellent along with a well made pizza and flavorful pork chop. Very close to the hotel we were staying at, so we were able to...stretch our legs for a ten minute walk. We would definitely visit again!More
A friend recommended this restaurant and am I glad she did! My hubby and I stopped in for lunch. The pizza was not only delicious but reasonably priced. They offer a nice selection of drafts as well.
The Bistro 23 is located just down the road from our hotel. We wanted something quick for dinner, and this was the perfect spot! You order first, pay, and they bring the food out. Got the bistro burger: grass fed beef, organic cheddar, lettuce, onion,...pickles, Russian dressing, potato bun. Also 1/2 Caesar salad with grilled chicken. Two great meals for under $25. Very friendly service. Would definitely go again when in the airport area.More
First night in Portland looking for a quick bite. Recommended by staff at hotel. Food was very good bolognese was really tasty. Pear salad was good. Chicken parmigiana sandwich was very tasty moist and well toasted.
I had soup and salad and both were excellent. The rest of my group had a variety of choices and everyone loved their food. My salad was great because the lettuce they used was the best. I loved the lemon flavored dressing and the soup...was creamy and hot in temperature. Other favorite choices were chicken, pork chops and spaghetti.More
The food was ok but the brick chicken was super salary. It's cafeteria style but the worker never acknowledged us so we couldn't tell if she was ready to take our order and they never come back to see if you are ok so don't...tip up front.More
This prettyy unassuming looking place (from the street), about 1.5 miles from PDX airport is a real find. It is usually full of the local business and trade folks (the area surrounding has a lot of stores, businesses, etc.), and that is frequently a great...indicator of where you can get a "no-fuss" but excellent lunch (or other meal) "quick and easy." You enter, order at the counter off a LARGE "chalkboard" menu hanging from the ceiling...LOTS of choices! It's only a problem because so many things sound good! Last time I was there I tried to go "veggie" because of my dining partner and so went with the "Portobello Sandwich." Portland is famous for good, local mushrooms... GLAD I did because it was DELICIOUS, and kinda knocked my "omnivore soul" for a loop. The bread was hearty (NOT commercial), toasted "to a TEE," full of delicious "shroom goodness," plus greens, etc., and was moist, full of taste, and very satisfying overall. It came with great fries, a nice pickle, etc., inotherwords, a perfect lunch break. The soft drinks are self-serve, but they also have a good selection of "brews" from the counter. It's in a slightly odd, commercial, "business zone" location, but I highly recommend if you're in the area..."escaping PDX," or shopping at nearby Cascade Station shopping area (which, BTW, has only the most commercial, very average food venues), that you take an extra 5 minutes to drive over to Bistro 23 for a really good lunch...or whatever! I've been there three times, and it's going to be a "first stop" coming away from PDX next month when I pick up my cousin and his fiancee' from their flight in a "First taste of Portland!"More
I used to like this place until they poured this skimpy glass of wine. For $9 they could fill up the glass a little but more.
A menu that carters to health selections but still overs some outrageous hamburgers. Desserts are hard to pass up.
Staying at airport hotel and this was within walking distance. Flavorful food with generous portions. My sister and I split a delicious pear salad and their signature bolognese (could have been a little less salty).
We were staying in the PDX airport area on the last night of a trip and just wanted something nearby, relatively inexpensive, but not junk food/fast food. Bistro 23 was perfect! We enjoyed a 'Pig in the Woods' pizza, peach salad and a beer. All...were delicious! There's a large seating area, a bar, concrete floors, wooden tables, a few high top tables. The atmosphere is a blend of upscale casualness. Friendly staff. Parking in front. Pay first and then sit down. If you found this review useful, please click the thank button. Thanks! ;) Happy travels peeps!More
Good, locavore food near the Airport Way hotels. Order at the front counter, fill your drink, then find a seat at the chair-height or bar-chair-height wooden-topped tables. Very casual, non-tablecloth eating but certainly not a fast-food joint. More like a six-table college-town eatery in Amherst...or Berkeley, expanded to several rooms full of tables. I had the grilled hand-cut bone-in pork chop from a local, "all-natural" farm, plus roasted veggies. Very good! My wife had a simple Margherita pizza and was happy, too.More
We were tired and hungry after a long day of touring in Portland, Oregon. We saw Bistro23 with a rating of 5 and decided to go. I did not look to see how many reviews had been entered. I was hoping it was more than...one! No fear! The food was outstanding, service was great and prices were very reasonable. I had a salad and pizza and my husband had the chicken and potatoes. Not a bite left on his plate. The pizza crust was perfect and the lemon vinegrette dressing made just right! We hope to visit again before we leave to return to Indy. Thanks Bistro23 for a great end to our perfect day in Portland!More
