Had dinner and breakfast after staying in the Hotel. Great food, wait staff is friendly and attentive and the atmosphere is charming cosmopolitan modern.

Located on the grounds of the Modera Hotel, this is unlike your typical hotel restaurant. Excellent selection of local and international wines, and an even better menu. Definitely one of the best we tried during our visit to Portland. Highly recommended!
Staying at the Modera hotel, we were at first sceptical, but very pleasantly surprised. From high quality EVOO and focaccia to the plump mussels in wine broth, the start was headed in the right direction. Pasta was home made
Beer and wine selection was so-so given the higher price point. I got the duck breast with brussel sprouts and balsamic reduction. Sounds great but it wasn't. The duck was overcooked and dry with no sauce to help. The sprouts were fine but nothing special. The balsamic reduction was about 5 pea size drops on the plate. Over priced for... More
She had a martini, I had a hard cider. (7.00 and 8.00) then we shared a meatballs, small pizza, and a soup of the day, followed by a white wine. Excellent service by the Boston bartender. Great food, made with imagination, in a lovely setting. Total bill was 38.00. We will go again. A gem
Not only is the food great, the preparation is outstanding. What helpful staff, as a party of six we wanted a big booth and none was available, but four people in a booth had really wanted a window table, so the head man talked to them, they moved, we had our booth, and every one was happy. The staff really... More
Dining in Portland has really escalated in price and so expectations rise accordingly. The meal was solid here. The place was packed with theater goers owing to its close proximity to several shows. The result of the crowd and the design of the room - this was an extraordinarily noisy place. I could barely make out what my dinner mates... More
I was staying at Hotel Modera and I stopped in for a late snack. I was hoping for the mushroom soup, but that was a dinner item no longer available. So I had the squash and hazelnut soup instead. It was ok. I was hoping to have a glass of buttery chardonnay, but they told me that they didn't have... More
We decided to eat here as a last minute decision before going to a show at the Keller auditorium at 630 pm. We arrived at 5PM, in the middle of their happy hour. The happy hour is in the bar and outside. The place was packed. The only seating available to us was outside and not by the fireplace so... More
We were "tourists in our adopted home city" Friday after work and stopped in for dinner after enjoying the Portland Art Museum. The food, I suppose "innovative Italian" is accurate, was perfectly good if not quite up to the expectations set by the menu description. The wine list is varied and manageable, the service reasonably prompt and thoroughly friendly. The... More
