I love their Happy Hour sitting at a table out on the sidewalk. As a vegetarian this place has some great options and keeps the meat eaters happy too! Grits, mississippi caviar (black-eyed peas, red onions, celery and bell peppers marinated in a red wine...More

This place has become my new favorite brunch location. It has not yet become saturated by tourists or hipsters and stands out as awesome Creole cuisine at "old Portland" prices. We drove by a giant line at Screen Door on our way back home and...More

We dined at Tapalaya with some friends back in 2010 on a whim and we visited it again on a whim after 6 years. It is amazing the place still retains its charm after 6 years! That was simply amazing for us. Even some of...More

We had the opportunity to eat at Tapalaya twice during the past week. Both times it was a genuine pleasure to be there and enjoy the food and the atmosphere. It was the menu that brought us in to begin with. A quick look told...More

Very casual setting, okay ambiance (a bit dark though) with pretty good food. For three of us during happy hour (before 6:00 PM) we spent about 40 dollars for food and drinks. The service was good .. But finding parking can be problematic.

for not getting to this excellent restaurant for eight years. I love Cajun, and I love places that twist their take a bit, and Tapalaya does both. Although the idea of Cajun with a touch of Vietnamese may sound odd, it's not when you consider...More

My family and I ate dinner here after a day of cycling around the Willamette River section of Portland, so we were pretty hungry. The interior is bright and festive and the art tasteful, a mix of Portland and bayou. The tables are a bit...More

bustling restaurant with friendly staff and an interesting and yummy menu. Tapas style with lots of veggie options. The blackened tofu was fabulous, as was the cornbread.

Description
Tapalaya is the worlds first tapas (small-plates) restaurant serving Cajun/Creole cuisine. Everything on our menu is made from scratch, with love. The plates of food are small (appetizer or side items size) and perfect for sharing and pairing. Menu items highlight New Orleans favorites: Jambalaya, Collard Greens, N"awlins BBQ Shrimp, Corn Bread and Po'Boys (just to name a few).
