About
Tapalaya is the worlds first tapas (small-plates) restaurant serving Cajun/Creole cuisine. Everything on our menu is made from scratch, with love. The plates of food are small (appetizer or side items size) and perfect for sharing and pairing. Menu items highlight New Orleans favorites: Jambalaya, Collard Greens, N"awlins BBQ Shrimp, Corn Bread and Po'Boys (just to name a few). Join us for Live Music every Thursday and Happy Hour Every day (4:30-6:00pm).

Five friends met for dinner, and everyone was happy with their food. Jambalaya, hot potato salad, red beans and rice, and (my favorite) braised greens with bacon. The menu seemed to have more Vietnamese influence than last time I visited -- all in a good...More

My neighborhood is inundated with restaurant-goers that command all our local parking efficiency, so I like to participate on foot. I’ve been a fan of Tapalaya’s happy hour cocktails for years - years enough that I can commend the formerly $2 and then $4 hurricanes...More

Visited Tapalaya recently for brunch, and enjoyed the live music and delicious food! Ordered the fired chicken and beignets (amazing!!!), as well as a couple of the eggs benny (too rich) options. Service was a bit slow (too many tables per server it seemed), but...More

On March 1, we couldn’t wait to visit Tapalaya mainly due to a photo posted on the Travel Portland website of black octopus in a bright green sauce. Here was the menu—we ordered all of it! First course: Crawfish etouffee nachos with wonton chips, cheddar,...More

Friends, hear me, the profile pic featured on this website is not accurate to the delicious cajun-vietnamese fusion cuisine this restaurant presents. This restaurant has delicious jambalaya and crayfish. It is not in fact a cheap greasy Chinese-American restaurant as the microwaved spring rolls pictured...More

Tapalaya reminds me a bit of Emeril's NOLA. The vietnames influence on the cajun dishes adds to the flavors and texture of the food. Having Abita Purple Haze puts Tapalaya over the top!

I don’t understand how this place got good reviews! The food is average Cajun fast food offered in a bar environment. The suggestion that Vietnamese and Cajun menu offering is good and worth trying is misleading. One might as well go to a fast-food joint...More

The waitress told us that it was common to share plates and the four of us did just that. We ordered all cajun dishes and they were outstanding. Seasoning was spot on and all of the food was hard to stop eating. Live music, early...More

It was fun to revisit New Orleans via this Creole restaurant. Our waiter suggested that - as dishes were brought out as they were done - our table share each entrée. Great suggestion: we had grilled octopus, jambalaya, gumbo, greens with bacon, and everyone's favorite,...More
