Went here after a fun night of partying in PDX and was pleasantly surprised. The service and food was really good. My wife & I each ordered the 2 eggs breakfast which comes with super good hash browns, homemade biscuits, thinly shaved ham & 2 eggs cooked any style. The food was very good & we will definitely come back... More

Just coming back from a Happy Hour (3 - 5 pm) at Urban Farmer (situated in the Nine Hotel). Awesome snacks/food: We had the beef slider, the cheese plate - wow! and great Farm Fries. My friend enjoyed a glass of excellent red wine and I loved my Bushmill Whiskey. Lovely atmosphere - great service and excellent choices of food... More

Popped in here during our trip to Portland, without a reservation, family of four (incl. an 11 and 14 year-old). The hostess couldn't have been friendlier or more accommodating. Immediately gave us a great table and had wonderful dining experience. Fantastic wine list! We ordered more food than we could eat, but everything was excellent, we especially loved the fresh... My birthday breakfast was sweet and savory - cherry chicken sausage and brioche French toast with ice cream. Yum. Our party of six was well satisfied. Service was steady, if a bit slow. The high atrium ceiling helped keep the noise level low, even though the place was full on a Sunday morning. Lots of meat dishes, but not much... More

We had breakfast at the Urban Farmer and have to say it was a good meal. It had a touch of class but also felt like, if you weren't dressed up you wouldn't feel out of place. The service was good, the food was tasty and worth the price. I would go back again but not sure I would make... More

We have stayed at the nines for years, for the great location swanky appeal the hotel has but especially for the urban farmer breakfast. We were here in December and had a few issues with the breakfast but everyone has bad days right. Well this time around I realized they have just lowered their standards.... the wife and I always... This place despite it's name-- "farmer" is mostly about meat. Yes farmers raise pigs/chickens/cows. The side dishes are really just that--- sides to the main event. Having said that the steak tasting plate with grass fed, corn fed/wagu was quite interesting as a tasting event. The side dishes were the "typical" steak house sides like mac and cheese, broccoli, creamed... More

Had a great meal. It was the first time that I have seen a "steak tasting" menu option. It is worth trying and can be shared. Excellent service. Only reason not a 5 is some might not like the ambiance in a hotel lobby, but they do a good job of making it feel as private as possible.

My partner and I ate brunch at Urban Farmer this past Sunday. We were seated quickly. The ambiance of the restaurant is very nice. It is in an atrium area surrounded by a hotel on all sides with the roof being translucent. Despite the hard walls on all sides, the setting is reasonably quiet and it is easy to hold... More

Description
Urban Farmer redefines the modern steakhouse with an emphasis on Northwest, sustainable ingredients and simple, straightforward preparations within a farmer chic environment. The menu honors national and local culinary traditions sourcing ingredients from some of the Northwest’s finest eco-friendly producers like Sudan Farms, Wooden Bridge, Nicky Farms, and Cattail Creek. Open for breakfast, lunch, dinner, weekend brunch and happy hour, Urban Farmer remains a reliable and approachable destination amidst Portland’s bustling food scene.Designer David Ashen of D-ASH Design in New York created a unique restaurant space within the 8th floor atrium lobby of the Nines Hotel. The space makes use of organic, reclaimed and modern materials such as a 20-foot communal table sourced from an old-growth Douglas Fir. The spacious “Deck” captures the light-hearted feel of outdoor dining and is accented by a field of wheat grass in the center of the room. A video installation by one of Portland’s favorite experimental artists, Matt McCormick, rolls stunning images of the city’s rural and urban landscapes. The “Pantry” offers an intimate setting with walls of steel and reclaimed timber, as well as shelves stacked with vibrant jars of pickled fruits and vegetables. The Library , adjacent to Urban Farmer in the lobby, is the ideal venue for guests to host private parties, play a game of pool or enjoy a quiet cocktail.
