I would imagine lunch and dinner are also good, but we really enjoyed our breakfast. Absolutely delicious, locally sourced food. Good coffee. On the 8th floor of the Nines Hotel. A beautiful lobby as well.

I must say that I was hesitant about the food. I was pleasantly surprised. The cheese appetizer was terrific. My colleagues loved the steak tasting. I had terrific lamb chops. The wine list is extensive. The butterscotch sundae was very good.

Seems like you should go there just for special occasion, but you don't have to hold back....I like the ambiance there. Natural light abound, filtered through an atrium setting on the 8th floor of the chic city hotel, the Nines, it has an upbeat vibe, and friendly staff. The 4 of us friends had a wonderful brunch there. One glance... More

As one reviewer said "best breakfast ever". And we might agree! We enjoyed two breakfasts there while staying at the hotel and a 4 pm visit for wine and snacks. The breakfast and brunch were excellent! For hearty try the shaved steak with homemade English muffins, benedict style... Or lighter, a breakfast/ brunch salad.. Both superb Hopefully you'll get Nicholas... More

Dear Guest Thank you for taking your time to give us your feedback. We butcher and entire cow once a month and an entire pig once a week to help provide the meat for our programs. Went in with high expectations, every one raved about the food.... Order soup, cheese platter and salmon Soup was warm not hot, cheese platter never showed said it was too busy to show the cheese The salmon was still swimming when first presented, I sent it back ... Came out so I couldn't even eat the bottom 1/2 of fish... More

1959maui Thank you for your honest feedback. We are sincerely sorry that your experience didn't meet our, nor your expectations. We do tend to cook our fish a little on the medium rare to medium side, but it sounds like yours might have been quite rare, and for that I appologize. And there is no excuse for warm soup. We... On our last day in Portland, my husband and I decided to try this restaurant for breakfast/brunch. I got the honey biscuit and he got the French toast. We were both happy with our dishes but not blown away. Would recommend going someplace else for breakfast and maybe trying this out for lunch/dinner.

This is located on the eight floor of the Nines Hotel in a large open area. Definitely an upscale restaurant in down town Portland. I had the Honey Biscuit. It had great flavor, but the top and bottom of the biscuit was so hard that I had to use a knife to break it apart. Not a big deal, but... More

MikeNancy_in_Salem Thank you for your feedback. We really appreciate hearing about your experiences with us. I'm very sorry to hear the Biscuits were overly hard, I can very honestly say that is not how they normally are, as they are a personal favorite of mine, and are usually perfect. Our service usually is extremely friendly so I'm very embarrassed to... More

We always enjoy this restaurant when staying at The Nines. They really have such great food and coffee too! This time around the salmon on bagel was quite skimpy on the salmon. And this morning the service was quite slow and sloppy. They missed bringing out the correct order. Looks like improvement is needed.

Tonypose Thank you for your sincere feedback of your experience with us. I'm sorry to hear that it wasn't up to our or your standards. We rarely ever are accused of small portions (most of our steaks run 14 oz or larger). I can only suspect that for whatever reason we just didn't live up to our standards that day... More

Description
Urban Farmer redefines the modern steakhouse with an emphasis on Northwest, sustainable ingredients and simple, straightforward preparations within a farmer chic environment. The menu honors national and local culinary traditions sourcing ingredients from some of the Northwest’s finest eco-friendly producers like Sudan Farms, Wooden Bridge, Nicky Farms, and Cattail Creek. Open for breakfast, lunch, dinner, weekend brunch and happy hour, Urban Farmer remains a reliable and approachable destination amidst Portland’s bustling food scene.Designer David Ashen of D-ASH Design in New York created a unique restaurant space within the 8th floor atrium lobby of the Nines Hotel. The space makes use of organic, reclaimed and modern materials such as a 20-foot communal table sourced from an old-growth Douglas Fir. The spacious “Deck” captures the light-hearted feel of outdoor dining and is accented by a field of wheat grass in the center of the room. A video installation by one of Portland’s favorite experimental artists, Matt McCormick, rolls stunning images of the city’s rural and urban landscapes. The “Pantry” offers an intimate setting with walls of steel and reclaimed timber, as well as shelves stacked with vibrant jars of pickled fruits and vegetables. The Library , adjacent to Urban Farmer in the lobby, is the ideal venue for guests to host private parties, play a game of pool or enjoy a quiet cocktail.
