We had breakfast, drinks and dinner here with mixed impressions. Breakfast was great. Dinner, not so much, which was unfortunate given the price. My husbands steak was very good but mine was quite bad - tough and overcooked (even at medium rare). At their prices, we expected better. The bar was a nice place to grab a drink. The ambience... The Thanksgiving menu was delicous with options for our enitre group. The staff was friendly and festive. We had a memorable time as it was our first time out of town for Thanksgiving and out to dinner. One thing I would say is the restaurant and bar area is beautuful. We along with many others were seated in a room... More

Been there several times and always good. Nice atmosphere for business, friends, or when traveling. The Nines always seems to have its act together.

Urban Farmer was recommend by a friend that said it would be good for lunch, and a place where I could work for a few hours before heading to my next destination. This place is located in a hotel atrium lit by natural light, and it's on the 8th floor of a building when coming in off the street. It... More

Held a committee meeting at the restaurant. The food is always well prepared and served but the table set up was difficult and it is to dark to really see anything. It is expensive if everyone attending needs to pay their bill and they aren't wanting an expensive dinner. The quality of the drinks and meals first rate just a... More

Great food! Enjoyed lunch and dinner. It can be busy so prepare to wait 20 minutes or so if you want your own table. The food was good, so it is worth it! Has a nice selection. Didn't leave hungry :)

Located on the 8th floor of the old Meier and Frank building which now houses the Nines Luxury hotel the Urban Farmer has a very interesting layout taking one large room and organizing it into separate cozy spaces all with a views up to the 15th floor glass ceiling. The food is very good as is the wine list. My... More

This restaurant is located on the eighth floor of the Nines Hotel. They are known for their steaks but their brunch/breakfast is awesome. I had the Sirloin Benedict and it was likely the best breakfast I have ever had. The English Muffins are housemade; thick, chewy, and great tasting. The eggs were perfectly poached, the steak was sliced super thin,... More

Not the best steakhouse in town. They pretend, but they don't make it. All they serve on your plate is a chunk of beef for your fifty plus dollars. Is it prime beef? I don't think so. It's cooked properly and nicely seasoned but that's the least one would expect. The pricey sides are only average. Try the legendary spot... More

Westcoaster36 I'm sorry to hear that you think we are overpriced. I agree with you that we are on the pricier end of the spectrum here in Portland. But we have to charge those prices because we work with farmers and ranchers that farm and operate with complete transparency. We can grantee that our Brandt Prime is an actual prime... More

For large groups or couples. Our waiter was amazing, the wine recommendation was spot on. All local. All of it. The honey comes from rooftop hives! Fabulous service. Fabulous food.

Urban Farmer redefines the modern steakhouse with an emphasis on Northwest, sustainable ingredients and simple, straightforward preparations within a farmer chic environment. The menu honors national and local culinary traditions sourcing ingredients from some of the Northwest’s finest eco-friendly producers like Sudan Farms, Wooden Bridge, Nicky Farms, and Cattail Creek. Open for breakfast, lunch, dinner, weekend brunch and happy hour, Urban Farmer remains a reliable and approachable destination amidst Portland’s bustling food scene.Designer David Ashen of D-ASH Design in New York created a unique restaurant space within the 8th floor atrium lobby of the Nines Hotel. The space makes use of organic, reclaimed and modern materials such as a 20-foot communal table sourced from an old-growth Douglas Fir. The spacious “Deck” captures the light-hearted feel of outdoor dining and is accented by a field of wheat grass in the center of the room. A video installation by one of Portland’s favorite experimental artists, Matt McCormick, rolls stunning images of the city’s rural and urban landscapes. The “Pantry” offers an intimate setting with walls of steel and reclaimed timber, as well as shelves stacked with vibrant jars of pickled fruits and vegetables. The Library , adjacent to Urban Farmer in the lobby, is the ideal venue for guests to host private parties, play a game of pool or enjoy a quiet cocktail.
