We first went to DOC back in 2012. It was very good - but not such a great place that it hit on our list of "must keep going back" places. Fast forward to 2016 and some friends of our were smitten about the tasting menu at DOC and insisted (well - more like encouraged) we go back. We made... More

Food, service, presentation very excellent. So why the four star review? The noise level was such that we literally could not hear each other speak. It made for a disappointing evening. As far as the food and wine pairings went, A plus! Our party of six sampled everything on the menu and were not disappointed. Personal favorites were the quail... More

My wife and I came here on a Friday night for their 6 course tasting menu. They had excellent service and were very friendly. The setup of their tasting menu however can be good for some and not desirable for others. The oysters were delicious to start as they were very fresh, mild and slightly sweet. The brocollini was crisp,... More

Unusual location in a nice neighbourhood, you walk thru the kitchen into a small intimate dining room. We did the 6 course meal. The food was Fabulous, full of flavour. Tough to identify a favourite dish, all were excellent. The waiter was very knowledgeable and passionate about wine. A great way to spend an evening in Portland!!

Probably one of the best 3 meals I have ever eaten. Let's put it this way--how many restaurant meals do you really remember? This will be one of them. It's quite expensive, so you really have to be a foodie to get into this, IMO. The restaurant is quite small. It looks like it seats no more than 25 people.... More

We had one of the best Italian meals paired with a beautiful selection of wines. The wait staff was impressive with their knowledge of the food and wine and the overall experience was great. Both my wife and I left with our appetites quenched and wanting to return. The only little downside was the dessert didn't live up to the... More

What a phenomenal experience! We did the 6 course tasting menu and added 2 dishes. This small restaurant (26 seats) has an open kitchen you actually walk through to the tables. Watching the chef prepare your dishes was definitely an added bonus. I can't believe the chef was only 24!!! This kid is headed to Michelin stardom for sure!!! The... More

This was probably the most quirky, unique, fun restaurant I have ever dined in. Narrow front entry actually passes you through the kitchen and dishwashing areas to an area of nicely set tables with linen tablecloths and nice silverware. (The bar is adjacent next door). The décor is contemporary Italian art. This is not your traditional spaghetti place where you... More

We arrived at DOC with great expectations having heard so much about it. The prix fixe sex course menu was intriquing and the the sommelier knowledgeable. Unfortunately our server, who also appeared to be the maitre d, was brusque and short with our group. She replaced our settings without finesse seemingly throwing flatware and dropping settings onto our table. When... More

My husband and I are from Vancouver, Canada, and were celebrating our first wedding anniversary in Portland and went to Doc for our "anniversary dinner". The experience was wonderful. The food was absolutely delicious and the portions were ample and classy. We indulged in the tasting menu and the wine pairing was very well done. We found the wine selection... More
