Review based on two visits within a few weeks, both for late lunches. Visit #1 - Drinks were excellent, especially the cadillac margarita with the Grand Marnier shot floating in a tangelo peel cup and glass rim salted with Tajin and sea salt. Complimentary salsa...was very good - smoky and seemed to be housemade. My dining partner ordered one of the Peruvian beef dishes, which was delicious. We loved the sweetie peppers, which we’d never had before. I had a lighter appetite, so opted for the shrimp cocktail (which I ordered bc the menu specified shrimp were from Argentina). It took a long time to come out, and when it arrived, the shrimp were warm and slightly overcooked, kind of mealy. Our wait person explained our order had taken a while to come out because the chef had to cook the shrimp. Erm, if you have shrimp cocktail on the menu, you should be prepared with pre-cooked and chilled shrimp. Visit #2. Cocktails were so good we stopped in for another late lunch the Friday of Memorial Day weekend. Another mixed experience. My mock-arita was outstanding - tart with a hint of sweetness, perfectly salted rim - in the top 10 % of margaritas (virgin or not). My dining partner’s cadillac margarita came without the flourish of Grand Marnier in the tangelo peel, though he said it tasted more or less the same. Our server was pleasant, but clearly overtaxed - we observed she had to move her vehicle while on shift to avoid a parking ticket. The tortilla chips that came with the delicious smoky salsa were noticeably stale. We had to wait a long time for our meal, so i mentioned the chips were stale. Our server was apologetic, said they were left over from the day before and the chef hadn’t had time to make fresh ones. I was surprised to hear the chips were house-made, because they didn’t seem like it. Finally, our meals arrived - about 30+ minutes after we ordered. Once again, my dining companion made a wiser choice than I did, and his soy-marinated Peruvian beef dish was tasty. But it did look hastily thrown together - mixed in with the cooked carrot ribbons were raw ones, and also a raw carrot end. My $17 shrimp quesadilla was attractively plated, but i was shocked when I took a bite and discovered the handful of shrimp inside were still sporting their tails. I had to deconstruct the quesadilla to remove the tails and make it edible - very unexpected. Apparently, that’s the norm at this restaurant- when I mentioned it to our server, she acknowledged diners should be warned in advance. Bottom line? Go for cocktails only, or stick to the Peruvian menu. Chef/owner needs to be there more often for quality control.More

We went to this place, because a friend of ours said they had plant based options which they did, but we were not impressed with the quality of food. It is recommendable though that they at least tried to have plant based options. The fajitas...only had a small amount of green peppers, no other colored peppers, the rice and refried beans had no taste at all. There was no choice of different shells or tortillas either. The margaritas were too small and had too much ice in them and were only mediocre also. The waitress also did not offer to bring out water for our dog, which let us believe they are not very dog friendly either. And all in all, everything was very over priced and it seems like they are not very proud of what they serve to their customers. Also when we walked by about an hour later and our table still had our dirty dishes there, so t nobody was in any hurry to clean up after us. Which also is probably uninviting for other guests wanting to eat outside.More

We dined here recently. We looked at reviews beforehand and the reviews ranged from filthy and terrible to excellent. We rolled the dice and learned. First, the service was pretty good. There was one person working in midafternoon when we were there and she was...great. Very accommodating. There were indeed flies in the windows and occasional food squished on the windows, but nothing utterly disgusting. The food itself was perfectly fine. I ordered a salad but over rice due to some recent dental work and ensuing lasting pain. The food was tasty, though a bit on the salty side. The rice mitigated the salt in the entree. This place is primarily a bar, which we didn't realize until we arrived.More

I was very disappointed! The food was excellent as it always is but I was very upset with the waitstaff. Although the State of Oregon’s mask policy for indoor dining was clearly posted at the door, with the exception of our waitperson, almost all of...the other staff were not wearing masks, notably the woman who was bartending. I’m not sure if this is a management decision but clearly the staff felt comfortable ignoring mask policies. The policy was set for all of our safety and should be followed. I probably won’t go back as long as this practice continues. It is very unfortunate because this has become one of our favorite places.More

We had the absolutly best dinner in a long time at a reasonable price. First, the margaritas are just amazingly well balanced and tasty, all four of us were impressed. We had Peruvian steak dinner on rice (fantastic spices and peppers, remember to mix it...all up before you eat it - see unmixed pic), My wife not as adventerous had the chicken burrito and all I can say is wow, it is huge and so tasty, could feed two easy (see pic). The other meal was another Peruvian steak on noodles, very different and great. We had a terrific table and absolutly perfect waitress. We all four agree that this deserves a full 5 * Rating!!!More

Decent food but the staff is like deer in headlights. Even the owner couldn't get our order straight. Only one waitress seemed to know what to do.

Amazingly good Peruvian in OC. This place has it all - ambience on the sidwalks of Oregon city, great service and a broad menu. I had the steak Encebollado. A perfectly cooked steak over wonderful rice with veggies ala Peruvian style. Even the tiny Peruvian...peppers were delightful. Complemented by a nice break side IPA - perfect lunch!!More

We feel obliged to write a review since the 4 stars was not at all our experience. Hitting average for the barramundi which was very good in the fish tacos ($19 for two). The rest of the experience was two star- soft eggy relleno stuffed with...mozarella cheese, and jalapeno poppers that were very darkly fried. Re the service- all of the food came out at once, we ran out of water twice, payed our bill and the dishes sat on our table. The setting is a sports bar; exposed lighting, lots of TV screens with sports and news, definitely a stretch for the price of the food.More

We found out about this restaurant through a Groupon notice and decided to give it a try and I am glad we did. We were promptly seated and were brought a basket of chips and some great salsa and ordered a couple of drinks, one...alcoholic and one non, both tasted great. We then ordered both a combination plate (enchilada/taco) and a dinner (Carne Asada) and both did not disappoint as they were nice portions, and very tasty. So with the great wait service from Emma, nice atmosphere inside this place and the very tasty food, we will be back.More

Two of us went for dinner. We had a shrimp and rice dish and a steak and rice dish (seco de carne). Both very good, very flavorful. They came with a lot of rice, but the steak and shrimp portion was large also. Their wine...list is limited and they sell only by the glass. This makes the wine pretty expensive. Oddly, there were no prices on the wine list. Food prices are not bad, so maybe they make up for it by over charging for the drinks. We would both happily go back.More

Had a small group of 8 people and decided to go for Mexican. Nothing was bad, but you can find better Mexican food at less expensive places in town. Nice atmosphere and very friendly. I have just had better Mexican food at other places.

We finished our tour of downtown Oregon City with dinner at Mesa Fresca. Our group sampled all over the menu and all items were good. My wife even had breakfast for dinner and said her waffles were great. The menu has something for everyone, Mexican,...Peruvian, and American. Sometimes this can make me nervous as it may indicate the restaurant lacks focus, but that is not the case here. My friend eats here often and says it all is good. The service was friendly and attentive. Worth a stop if you are in Oregon City.More
