We went there for a special occasion and we were so happy with the food and atmosphere. The quality and variety were great. The appetizers and entrees are excellent. Love the view and feel of the place. We even got a free dessert. Cannot say...enough good things about Hilltop House.More

I have eaten at the Hilltop House for over forty years. If you are in the dining area, the sunset view is amazing! I moved away from North Bend years ago, but if I am in the area, I make sure that I dine at...this fine establishment. The bread served with the salad is so yummy! The quality of the fish served is fresh. Yes, it has a kind of retro atmosphere, but I enjoy it.More

Went here on a whim, didn't expect much because well most restaurants in Oregon suck. However we were blown away by the food; I had the lamb chops and they were unbelievably delicious. My better half had the Surf n Turf and it was absolutely...delicious. After seeing the shrimp that came with hers I had to get some for myself; OMG by far the best fried shrimp I have ever had. Definitely fresh. Definitely amazing. I will be telling all my friends about thus place. Oh and by the way my better half calls me a food snob....More

Fine dining may be on a plaque outside the door but my experience inside was far from that. I made reservations here based on reviews that it was a great place to take your wife out for her 60th birthday as I stated to the...person on phone when I called them days prior to event. I asked for their best table to celebrate the occasion and asked them if they could do something special for event which they replied they could put us at a window table with panoramic view and bring out a special dessert and I agreed. We showed up at our reservation time and could see from the counter that that the all the window tables were full and they showed us to a table near walkway to bar/kitchen/door. I expressed my displeasure but they apologized and said this was all that was available. My wife agreed to location and I nodded ok. Well then the server showed up and waited for too long for drinks, water and everything going forward. They sat a too large party for table next to us and the loud, vulgar language started. One of the “hosts” was friends with party leader and the staff obviously didn’t care about any of the other guests leaving as the noise/party got louder. Never saw a manager or anyone else who could of done anything to make amends or apologize after we pushed our half finished plates away and asked for check. I’m not going back there and suggest you don’t either. Poor customer service isn’t worth mediocre food they serveMore

The appetizers and cocktails gave us hope that we might have a pleasant evening. The entrees were bland, breaded chunks of what I assumed may have once been same kind of fish. I've had better out of a box of Gorton's.

The initial impression when driving up. Old sign and older building. When we walked into the restaurant it had a unpleasant smell because of all the carpet. It was nicely set up, but the initial smell of the carpet is off putting. BUT when we...got the food that we ordered, we were pleasantly surprised. The calamari was lightly breaded and tender. The stuffed mushrooms were large and very tasty. You could actually see all the crab. The oysters were plump and very good. We ate in the lounge and the gal bartender was so great. All her recommendations were on point. Everything was fresh and we were pleased. All they need to do is take out the carpet and do some updating. It would elevate the restaurant into this decade. This is why I have it 4 stars instead of 5.More

This place is awesome! Beautiful view, great food and nice staff! If you are looking for seafood or a steak or a cocktail this is the place! It is a little more expensive than the usual spots on the Southern Oregon Coast but very worth...it! They have a nice view and great ambience! If you can't get a seat in the main dining room you can eat in the bar. It is a very cool old style bar. If you eat in the bar you might get to meet Harmony, the awesome waitress who works in there. Take your date and impress them!More

They have hired a few new waitstaff that maybe aren’t used to fine dining but also casual. They have a nightly special so ask. It is a bit pricey but you won’t be disappointed.

We visited the Hilltop twice during our trips. The second time we went to their attached Lounge first for cocktails , then had dinner at the restaurant. The Lounge is a busy but cozy place in simple decor and ambiance. Attire is casual. The staff is...friendly, and the drinks are large in size and perfectly done. You can order appetizers or from the regular restaurant menu. The restaurant has a wall of windows overlooking one of the many inlets found in and around Cops Bay. The menu includes pasta, steak, chicken and seafood dishes, prepared in different ways that are delicious and very satisfying. For a casual dinner or to celebrate a special occasion, the Hilltop Restaurant is the place to go.More

We have always enjoyed this restaurant when visiting the area. I have always rated this restaurant 5 stars but was disappointed this trip. We had a 4:30 reservation so we could enjoy the sunset with my visiting brother in law. As usual I always appreciate...the extra time and effort the chef/owner puts into his simple but thought given process in his preparation. The salad is always fresh, cold and crispy greens with extra time put into the picked sweet cucumber, the pickled cauliflower and the balanced and chilled carrot slices. The combination compliments any dressing choice. My wife and brother in-law both ordered the Halibut one pay seared and one blackened. Both were very happy with the presentation, preparation texture, freshness and flavor. I ordered a charred medium rare ribeye steak. This is where i was disappointed in getting a medium to medium well cooked steak that was on the dry side. The meat was good quality but not to my liking nor as I ordered it. When the server came to clear the table she asked me if I wanted a box for the portion of the steak i did not eat, I said no it was somewhat over cooked for me. She apologized and nothing more was said. The steak did not have crisscrossed char marks on it that seal in the juices like I have had in past visits to this restaurant. We then ordered the six layer sweet street chocolate cake which is always great for for finished with the bottle of wine and a cup of coffee. The server then brought the check with no adjustments for the overcooked steak. The server did do a good job and was attentive so I still left her a $41 tip on a bill of $189. We will go back but will order my steak rare and maybe get it the way i like it.More

This is a truly outstanding restaurant. The food was simply wonderful. I had the Halibut casserole which was chock full of crab legs and shrimp in a light sauce. It was SO good. Service was very attentive. Some nice water views from most tables. Dress...is casual and most everyone was in jeans.More

Just had the special of the day. Shrimp, crab legs, and scallop in a wine sauce. Included was soup or salad, veggies, and bread. Salad was good, who puts pickled carrots, cucumbers, and peppers in a salad. Hilltop House does!! The seafood dish was amazing...and only $25.00. Full bar and social distancing. Make a reservation as the place was packed.More
