If you like eating great food in a place where jeans are standard, this is the place. Very casual feel, but the food was tied for the best in Newport. Steamer clams are the best in town. Shrimp kabobs excellent, great crab and perfect rockfish. Salad was not their forte', but didn't go out with vegan intentions. Very highly recommended.... More

...unless you get there when it opens, Fresh and local seafood expertly and elegantly prepared, and delicious! Plus good views of fishing boats and the bay right across the street

A modern-looking seaside restaurant with an open kitchen, Local Ocean Seafoods delivers what it intends to do: local, fresh seafood on pretty and appetizing plates. I had the fish and chips (local catch, breaded and fried) and it was probably the best piece of fish I had all year. Visitors should probably keep in mind that this restaurant is catering... More

Our semi-trusty GPS found the place, down on the east end of fishing boat row. Glad we found it, as the crab/garlic chowder was very tasty (and my wife isn't a big fan of garlic - sad, but true), both of our dinners were fresh and well prepared, and the service was quick and friendly. If you like seafood, you... More

I had friends visiting from the Midwest and they were really looking forward to trying some local seafood. They said they had read good things about this place but I had never tried them. Because of the restaurants name we decided to give it a try - what a disappointment. While the service was OK, the food was below mediocre... More

Fresh seafood, prepared properly and supports local fisherman. A local favorite and now has reservations so even locals can go in the summer. LOVE the second floor with its great view.

Checked Trip Advisor for a dinner recommendation while visiting Newport, Oregon. Local Ocean Seafood was the place. Headed down to the restaurant and had a 1-1/2 hour wait since it was 7 pm on Saturday night. Got our name on the list and then wandered the boardwalk until time to dine. Ordered Dungeness crab for the first time and was... More

Thought this place might be special as it's listed as the #1 best place to eat in Newport. We started off with three appetizers; Clams in Broth...probably a total of six clams. Crab Cakes which were good, but nothing out of the ordinary and Crab Bruschetta that had two pieces of baguette... My granddaughter had the Fish and Chips that... More

We stopped here for lunch on our way to south coast the soups ( chowders) were to die for. We ordered 2 different kinds - crab/garlic and shrimp - both were great. The salmon poke had a great taste but it also had very little fish and much more avocado. Fish and chip were good. Octopus salad was average. Overall... More

We had a very nice dinner in this place overlooking the bay. The food was great but our server seemed a bit distracted. That did not detract from the menu and the fabulous presentation but it was the fastest dining experience I have had recently. I would definitely recommend the food at Local Oceans...service, not so much.
