Great food. My favorites are Reuben's & hamburgers. A lot of locals also like their chicken. There are slot machines so no kids. You can go out on the deck in the back to smoke. You'll get to look at the Nehalem River & the...birds while you are out there.More

we stopped here for a quick bite today. We both ordered a Reuben Sandwich, one with fries and the other with onion rings. the sandwiches were freshly made and piled high with corned beef, swiss cheese and sauerkraut. The first time I've not had to...wear a bib to eat the sandwich. it was delicious and not runny at all. the onion rings were huge and fries hot & crisp. a good lunch on a cold and rainy dayMore

My spouse & I came through the area the end of August on a motorcycle trip. With the tourist season over, there was not a lot of activity on the streets. We poked our heads into this restaurant, with not a sole inside. I'm glad...we decided to stay regardless. I had the best grilled ham & cheese sandwich to date. My spouse recommends the Bayway Burger. Don't expect anything more than diner food, at its best.More

The Bayway is something of a local enigma, with a few draft beers on tap, full selection of spirits and very little wine. The owner is a curmudgeonly woman -and she knows it- easily narked if you interrupt her frequent conversations with a select few...patrons. Main offering is and excellent and huge basket or to-go portion "broasted chicken and jo-jos", with a couple of burgers, sandwiches and tuna melt on marbled rye if the kitchen "happens" to be open in the evenings. On the upside, it's this reviewer's favorite sweetened breakfast place in the Three-Villages". Huge portions of the usual bacon, ham or sausage meats, fantastic biscuits and gravy -best sausage gravy I've ever had in the area and perfect, crispy hash browns. A half-portion is enough for most but the most dedicated trencherman.More

My Dad and I really enjoy eating breakfast here. its one of those places that doesn't mess around with breakfast, its just an ordinary hole in the wall establishment. Everything is made from scratch and that's what we like about it. We have been here...so many times and have ordered the same things over and over but every time it seems to be like a new experience. I see many people complain about the service but sometimes that's expected. If your coffee isn't being filled you go in the kitchen and fill it yourself - its a locals place.More

We came here after being treated very poorly at another bar. The Bayway was exactly what we were looking for. Great service, very fun, nice people working there. Had the best burger of our trip. This will be where we go when staying in the...area from now on.More

Ok, your already in a nautical environment, with the ocean air caressing your senses, so why not jump overboard and go to BayWay Tavern and have a bowl of the most wonderful, hearty, filling Clam Chowder there is. I seriously almost ordered another bowl, just...for the taste. It's where the locals eat. Join em.More

As we arrived at 8:30am on a Sunday morning and stood at the front door we were ignored by the only server working. This is a very small restaurant with only 8 tables and the two that were empty were dirty. An off duty employee...that was at a near by table got up to help but was rude to us acted like this was a huge inconvenience to all of them. We finally sit and the off duty staff set menus down and walked away no greeting at all. Took another 5 minutes or so for the waitress to come over no good morning or any greetings at all it was a "what you having" gave our order now we sit still no water no coffee ect. Took 6-8 min to finally get drinks which came in a small 12oz plastic cup full of ice so two drinks later it was gone which was not good because she never refilled them. My husband and daughter had ice tea and sadly we were very thirsty as she never came to refill. At this time there was two tables of two pp that had not gotten their food yet they also were upset as they could not get a coffee refill at one point both tables were holding up their cups demanding coffee. Food arrived after about 1/2 hr we were happy to say the least that the food was good although the eggs Benedict which should of had Canadian bacon on it had some kind of thin slices cheap lunch meat. But sadly our waitress set food Dow did not talk at all and walked away. I ate about 1/2 of my foot but was so frustrated with her for not refilling drinks of making sure our food was prepared ok I got up and left mind you I have built a pyramid at this point trying to get her to refill our drinks. As I'm leaving I tell another couple coming in to be aware that the service is slow and the waitress is rude. While I'm waiting for my family to attempt to get the waitress attention to just pay the bill the couple come out and tell me they asked said waitress for a Bloody Mary and she snapped at them and said the cook is the one that makes drinks and she is to busy so no drinks. The couple then left. My husband who was still in the building at that time heard the waitress complain loudly not only about the couple that left but about me too. I have been a waitress for 33years and I have never been treated this bad.More

Tried again ... silly us. How can you put out plates with half the food cold and half hot. On the same plate one piece of bacon was hot and the other stone cold. Hash browns hot on one side only. No point in complaining...as the waitress disappears and it takes so long to get your order you eat what you can and leave ... never to return. What happened to this place?More

This is a hidden gem along Hwy 101 on the North Oregon coast. Nehalem is a small town you would normally just drive through. If you need a good breakfast or lunch this is the place to stop. The biscuits and gravy are outstanding and...generous servings. Just the best down home country cooking you could hope for. Reasonable prices and very generous servings. Later in the day you can get orders of Chicken & JO JO's from the tavern side--the best anywhere !!!More

Travelling through Nehalem and had some unexpected delays, luckily for us we happened upon the Bayway Tavern. Had a wonderful time with all the locals, especially Suzie who not only is a top notch bartender but also a fantastic cook. The breakfast was delicious, totally...prepared to order and the locals made it a one of a kind, good old fashioned experience...a true small town best of the best! Try the Eggs Benedict...awesome!More
