My husband and I had the afternoon free and decided to try a new restaurant. Reviews were good on Google- so we gave it a shot. Cute place! Nicely decorated and clean. There was only one employee manning the front of the house- he seemed...a little overwhelmed. When he came over to take our order I let me husband order first and he made an “off” comment that “he could come back later- he’s got plenty of other things to be doing”. Took me by surprise and took some restraint not to provide an appropriate come back. Needless to say we ordered and despite being a little busy the food came out in a fair time. I ordered catfish and fries, husband ordered steak po-boy and some crawfish beignets for an app. The crawfish beignets were basically hush puppies with a few bits of crawfish- not super flavorful, but good. My catfish came out with a beer batter on them. My husband and I both laughed since we both lived In the south for 10 years or so and neither of us had ever ever had catfish prepared like that- it’s usually always a cornmeal breading served with a tartar sauce. Needless to say I tried it to give it a shot. It was so awful and greasy that I just couldn’t take another bite. Even the French fries were strange and not seasoned well, slaw had no flavor. Husband said his steak po-boy was not very good either but he ate most of it. As much as i wanted to like this restaurant... it was a fail for me. Next time I want southern creole, or Cajun I’ll just make some at home. The server noticed that o barely touched my meal, and asked about it- I provided the feedback that I wish their menu had described how the fish was prepared, he understood and agreed. He took the meal off the bill. For that I was appreciative since I left the restaurant still hungry.More

We like the quick nature of the dinner food. You can spend a long time enjoying a slow dinner, but it also is a good place to stop for a quick bite.

Went out for a family dinner on a whim this past Saturday evening. So glad that we did. Upon arriving without reservations, the staff made sure that they could accommodate us. We started with a couple of cocktails, I had the Tom's Old Fashioned. Best...OF I've ever had. The walnut bitters were evident and delicious! On to a couple of starters; Voodoo Fires and Fried Pickles. Both were fantastic and surprisingly, the pickles were a delicious irony! On to the entrees, I had the Beer Battered Fish and Fries, the wife enjoyed her Bourbon Street Burger and my son, the Fried Chicken. Everything was exceptional. I might add that the chicken was boneless, a nice surprise, and my fish was simply the best in McMinnville. As one can imagine, we were full and there was no room for dessert ..... darn it! I'd be remiss if I didn't mention how great the service was and the ambiance was exactly what was expected of a restaurant of this name. A fine example of why McMinnville, OR is thought of as a "foodie" town.More

We ordered Crawfish Etoufee and fried chicken. Both were awesome. The server/bartender recommended the Hoochie Mama cocktail which was habanero pepper infused vodka and a berry mix with cajun spices along the edge of the glass. If you like hot, sweet and spicy all in...one glass this one is for you.More

recently dined at Gem Cajun Saloon for a belated engagement dinner. for the most part, everything was top notch. The Fried chicken was excellent as was the BBQ shrimp. the beignets were HUGE. Having had beignets in New Orleans these were 4 times the size....Unique drinks and a large wine menu. The hushpuppies were a little dry. The place gets busy on weekend nights, so reservations are recommended. .oh and the sweet girken pickles with the chicken were greatMore
