Among the things I really liked about this place are (1) Dog friendly reservations and seating; (2) Really sophisticated interior design; (3) an amazing alcohol menu (though I just had a great pale ale); (4) wildly imaginative pizza options in addition to the standards -...my niece ordered a veggie version and ate every bite though she was sure she wouldn't, I had the daily special which was deeply delicious; (5) a genuinely thoughtful, cheerful staff who cooperated with/covered for each other remarkably smoothly. Even though we received an excellent service after we finally were able to flag a waiter , I still have mixed feelings. We were seated at the table on the patio. There were other 3 occupied tables in the same area. For 30 minutes we...watched how male waiter with big mustache took care of those 3 tables around us and never once he acknowledged us. Those families finished, their tables were already cleaned up by other two people and we were still seating there looking around trying to get service. Not until we started waiving around to people inside the restaurant a waiter came out and said there was a mix up with change of shift. I don’t understand why mustached waiter did absolutely nothing and even if it wasn’t his table he saw us just sitting there for 30 min looking around trying to get attention and said nothing to no one. We had Soltice pizza, it was very good. Cocktails were small and very pricey. Covered outdoor seating was very warm, they had over head heating on. Friendly service.

We have been fans of Solstice since it was at the old location in Bingen. The Hood River location is more modern, and located near other food & drink spots. The pizzas are lovely, and the salads are always fresh & tasty. The cocktails are...nicely crafted, and they have decent wines by the glass or bottle. We saved room for dessert on this visit, and they had a salted caramel budino - so good! Solstice is a favorite that we will continue to return to again and again.More

When four people from various parts of the United States, who also travel internationally, sit down and eat pizza and ALL say it's the best pizza they've EVER eaten, they must be doing something right. We were on a day trip from Portland, will make...it part of every Portland visit going forward.More

We go to Solstice every time we go to Hood River!!! We had the vegan pizza, which was amazing and sat on the patio. Tables are distanced enough that we were comfortable even with the patio sides in place. (Canvas/plastic to keep wind and rain...out)More

Visited while briefly in Hood River. Pizza was really good - the combo of cherries with chorizo was so good. Nice service - would definitely eat here again

We like the fact that Solstice takes reservations. It limits the wait lists and hanging around that usually accompanies eating out along the Hood River waterfront. The pepperoni pizza we ordered was delicious, done right with the crust blackened just a bit. The salad was...a bit more problematic. The special was listed as “tomato, prosciutto and Brie. It was good as far as it went, with a few slices of tasty heirloom tomatoes tossed in for good measure. Having indulged in many prosciutto/Brie delicacies over the years, I’m here to say there wasn’t even a hint of Brie in that salad. Chunks of bland mozzarella with a little salad dressing for disguise. I politely mentioned to the server that the cheeses may have been switched. He said, “nope, it’s Brie. I saw them slice it!?” It was mozzarella.More

When we add our name we were told it was about 30min wait. We received total 3 texts from the restaurant. When we showed up host was saying we are late and no table available. We showed up within the time frame. I am not...writing this post to argue who is right or wrong, it is the tone of the host. She was absolutely RUDE. No greeting or NO smile. A, haughty, downright rude and hostile hostess is the primary reason you should avoid this establishment. I go to dinner to enjoy good food, good service and good company. The food at Solstice has become increasingly uninspired and mediocre. It also is overpriced. In addition,...unless you happen to enjoy a hostess with a prickly, unhelpful and hostile demeanor and who berates customers is clearly service inept and incapable of problem solving. I would steer clear of Solstice. There are so many other good restaurants with good people in Hood River. Don't waste your time on Solstice.More

The hostess enjoys enforcing her rigid rules at the expense of any customer appreciation or service. We put our name on the waiting list and she told us it would take at least and hour, so we went to downtown Hood River. We were surprised...by a text earlier than planned. We responded to the text at 6:49pm saying that we were on our way. Nothing in the text or anything else said that we would be put at the end of the waiting list or that we had to have everyone together at the restaurant in order to secure our table. My son (15) raced down on his scooter and we walked behind. We have eaten here many times and probably spent thousands of dollars. When our son arrived, the hostess said he was too late and would have to wait for an hour for another table. She sent him outside. He sat there for a while and eventually called us 7:03pm a few minutes after he had arrived to tell us the the hostess said he was too late. We thought he was joking. When we arrived at 7:06pm I asked her for our table and she said we were too late. I said my son arrived to claim the table and she said it took him 20 minutes to get there which was false. It had been less than 20 minutes for us to walk there from downtown, and our son had been there for nearly 10 minutes. When I questioned the hostess about the elapse of time, she abandoned her 20 minute argument and said that our entire party had to be present within 10 minutes of text (I have eaten here so many times and spent $1000s of dollars in meals and have never heard this before, nor does the text advise you of this). She was so rigid and unapologetic. She enjoyed her moment of power. Be careful of the hostess or go somewhere where they actually appreciate your business. Solstice just lost an enormous amount of future business. Apparently, when you have a line out the door you can treat people with no respect.More
