Excellent food! The chicken strips were hand-breaded organic chicken cooked perfectly!
My hubby had the French dip with mushrooms and grilled onions ( optional) and loved it.
My MIL had the burger and it was fresh beef, lots of crispy lettuce and thousand island dressing. The service was great and the cafe is cozy inside. We’ll be back!!!

My friends and I went for a late breakfast here. When we arrived it was relatively quiet but during the time we were there all the tables filled up. The service kept up with the crowds for the most part.
The menu is extensive and most of the offerings are good sized portions of food - make sure you go hungry. We enjoyed avocado toast, huevos rancheros and omelets along with coffee and a Bloody Mary. Food was fresh and tasty.
We were staying nearby so didn't have to deal with the parking.

Found this on the Map apps and decided to try it. Parked and the place was quiet, didn't look like there was many people, forgot this was a little town and a weekday. Was quickly seated by a very friendly waitress.
Tried their home made corn beef hash and eggs, it was amazing. Great taste, eggs were cooked perfectly and it was a very nice portion. Left satisfied and full. Was hoping I wouldn't fall asleep during my drive. A couple near me ordered some pancakes and that looked great too!! Maybe next time.
The place has a nice little small town feel, it was really quite nice, quiet, clean and a very friendly feel to it. Tables were getting wiped down, utensils were clean as well. I did talk to a few customers at the job site and they said that this place is usually busy on weekends and during the peak season. Come early, get a seat and just enjoy the ambiance, food and service!!!!

We read the reviews and were very excited about Egg River cafe. Unfortunately, we had a very average experience for breakfast. The service was almost non existent(had to ask multiple times for items) and the food was nothing special. Maybe we went on an off day, but we believe there are better options for breakfast in Hood River.

We chose to go here for breakfast during our stay in town based on the 4.5 stars. While waiting to be seated, I felt the place isn’t that clean. The waiter preparing the table took a cloth that was cleaned dirty water inside a bucket and wiped our table. When We were seated, we had to disinfect the table ourselves using hand sanitizer and tissues. The waiters are not in uniform except the manager and one of them his hair is very long and didn’t bother putting net since he is dealing wit people’s food. Since we waited, I decide we give this place a chance and try their food. My husband ordered a veggie feta cheese omelet that came out watery and only some feta sprinkled on top. He returned it and end up eating peanut with a toast. I ordered a mushroom / Swiss cheese omelet and chocolate pancakes, they were bellow average that we left most of it. For a place specialized in making eggs, they don’t know how to make omlets. Our Americanos ( $ 4.50 each) were so bad that a drip coffee with good beans would have been better. They took out the price of the omelette we returned from our bill, but still I believe this place is way over rated, the food is not worth the prices they charge and I have a big concern about cleanliness. It was a waist of money and time since we had to go look for coffee somewhere else and snacks.

This place had a line up to get in and people said it was worth the wait but I would give it a pass. The menu was huge and the portions but the quality of food was terrible. The eggs Benedict was salty and bland. The fresh made sauce was definitely a package product; bright orange, thick and lumpy. I scraped it off and ate the egg only. My husband had the clubhouse sandwich which he said was okay, but nothing special. My blueberry mimosa was mostly champagne and no berries. The service was good and the diner was packed but I would not recommend the fast food.

We ate here twice during our five day visit and the extensive menu made choices difficult. You can’t go wrong with whatever you order. We even took lunch to go when w left town.

I’ve had breakfast here at least 3 times while in the Hood River Area. They have a whole variety of options for breakfast and everything is home made. They have handicapped parking in front and other parking spaces for the general public, and some additional parking right across the restaurant. Each time we take new guests, they all say how delicious was their food. If you’re looking for breakfast in the area, this is the place to go!

This is a busy place and the service was average. I would look for a place with less traffic next time. The sign at the door said to wait for seating. That didn't stop the folks behind us who just helped themselves to one of the last open booths up front. We were seated at a table in the back and the waitress came over after about a 5 minute wait, no greeting, just, "what can I get you?". Our food was delivered fairly quickly and the meal was good. The waitress came back half way through to ask if everything was ok. Just not very friendly. I got the sense that customers aren't a problem so they don't worry about it. This is obviously the busy place in town. Personally, I prefer a place with a bit more charm, but that was our only visit. The menu looks good though. I had the farmer's omelette and my partner had the french toast.

Given the reviews, I expected a better experience. My omelette lacked the ham I ordered, and the toast was limp, which I had ordered toasted hard. My brother in law's traditional omelette didn't contain the ham that was supposed to be in it. All 3 of us felt the hash browns we not very good. Service was okay, being really busy is not an excuse. When we go back to Hood River, we will not return to this restaurant.

Unlike Bette’s Place, a similar type of restaurant bearing the #1 rating on this site, this place figured out how to fill a brunch restaurant without making us feel unsafe. They provided shielding, they put in a mongo filtration system that removes pathogens from the air, and they didn’t have us sitting on top of each other.
So we stated, and the food was top rate and mildly too much, as is typical of egg places. The veggie scramble was delicious, the toast perfectly done, the Benedict had perfect (not gloppy) hollandaise, and all in all we had not one bad thing to say about the experience.

We walked right in on Sunday morning at about 9:15. The line started forming right after we got there. The flavors were good, the service was prompt, and the cost was plenty. We think over-easy eggs should not have any runny whites. These did. It wasn't horrible, just not the way we would have made them. Others may like over-easies that way. The poached eggs on the caprese benedict were cold. That was a bummer, as warm eggs would have warmed up the mozzarella. It was delicious, would have enjoyed it more had it been a warm breakfast.

We really enjoyed our breakfast this morning - it was quick after we ordered and very big portions. We ordered a variety of things from skillets to French toast to eggs/bacon, to oatmeal. Everyone really enjoyed it. Drinks were filled quickly and the service was excellent!

Very enjoyable. Good selection and fun atmosphere with upbeat 80s easy listening music playing. There were a few forgotten items with our order which were no big deal, they brought them out when we asked.
Coffee is good, served in big cups. Egg dishes were good (I got a veggie scramble with home fries, husband got a 2 egg breakfast with hash browns. I recommend the hash browns.) We ordered an Apple pancake as a bonus item. It was good but needed more cinnamon.

In our week in Oregon, this was by far the best breakfast we ate. Especially recommend the Eggs Benedict Florentine and the Chicken Chilaquiles & Eggs. Parking is tight, and you'll likely wait for a table, but it is worth the inconvenience.
