We stopped in for lunch and dinner while staying in Gearhart. Both meals were good as were the drinks. No complaints by any in our large party. Super friendly staff as well.

I had called & asked about reservations on the outside deck for my husband's 60th birthday. I was told they do not do reservations but I could call 1/2hr before to see if the deck would be open. I explained that due to Covid he...would only be comfortable eating outside and if this was not an option we would want to know ahead of time to make other plans. I was then told I could call the morning of. I called the next morning and was told the deck would be available and we could call 1/2hr ahead to be put on a waitlist. That evening I called a 1/2hr ahead and then got a text that our table was ready. When we arrived the young hostess first told us there was no patio seating, there would be a long wait, and I had to explain the calls and confirmation I had received. We were seated on the patio, and as we waited, and waited for our food we were happy we had ordered the tater tots my son suggested. We did not time it but our dinners took close to an hour and a half! Our poor waitress apologized that they only had 2 chefs for the entire place. Not her fault, and we understand a lot of the local businesses are struggling to get up to speed with staff since Covid. We were told that the outside tables would have blankets. When we asked our waitress she told us that the counter next to the hostess would have these. My husband came back to say that the person he asked, said they didn't have a key to access them. Our waitress was able to procure a couple of heated ones for us. I'm not sure who or where management was but the communication and organization were not good. You would think they would have their servers taking around free fries or such for all the tables that had to wait so long. We saw another table that had been there longer than us with young children who were getting pretty cranky and out of control. Surprisingly the food was decent, but we were also pretty hungry. What a crummy 60th birthday dinner. It seems that this restaurant gets by with its location and capacity. Food is OK, but you take your chances on the wait and service.More
Fabulous, cozy and your own putting green to boot. Typical eclectic McMenamins with full bar, fire pit and cozy interior building. This place is tucked away among bunkers. Walk in only.
Great happy hour, old wood old irish pub, great service and drinks. Part of an overall wonderful Mcmenamins experience
We stayed at the resort across the street and decided to hit up The Sandtrap for breakfast and dinner. They had great choices for both and even though take out is the only option, everyone was so nice and accomdating. The biscuits and gravy and...pancakes were awesome! We got the 19th hole and the cranberry chicken salad sandwiches for dinner with tots and a side salad. Both were delicious. The chicken salad is a bit saucier than i usually like, but it was still very good and filling. Definitely will hit them up next time we are in Gearhart.More
Civic forced closure so ordered and took food back to room. That wasn't a problem. Taste and consistency was disappointing.
It's a cool place to hang out on a chilly or rainy afternoon. We stopped in for lunch since we love the McMenamins Edgefield. The beers are always good. The food was acceptable. Unfortunately, the bartenders had to serve everyone in the bar area. The...service was alright; I have the feeling the staff had been working some long hours. I would give them a second chance; they could have been having a bad day.More
Took awhile to get service. Guy didn't care at all we were there. We were older couples. Young people came in. He was right on them and friendly. Had to ask 3 times for water. Food was cold and no silverware just poor. When you...spend the high prices they are asking. Food better be worth it. It's notMore
I hadn’t tried this outlet before. I tried it during the pandemic when restaurants started reopening. I tried the fish and chips. The fish was good, the fries were overdone, but well seasoned. It filled me up. I think I’ll try a burger next time....If you stop, you are within walking distance to the beach.More
Came here knowing Mcmenamins isnt know for their food. Some of the fruit in fruit bowl was brown, chicken fried steak was way overcooked, tough and twice as thick on one end as the other (probably why it was over cooked) and fairly small for...the almost $17. My wife had a breakfast sandwich and it was good but overpriced. Almost $50 for a breakast that want cooked well, waiter never brought us water or offered to refill our drinks. We wont be back!More
My girlfriend and I were treated terrible. Rushed , hostel, unprofessional, mean spirited. NO to Gearhart McMenamins Sand in your eyes trap.
Overpriced, weak drinks, slow service and merely average food. "Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how'd you like the play?"
We stopped by McMenamin's in Gearhart late one aternoon and were suprised by the Happy Hour deals they offered. I ordered the small trufle fries. Don't know why they called them small - it was a huge basket of fries with a great dipping sauce....My friend ordered the small Cajun Tots - I'd hate to see the regular size - and the half Pub Green Salad. The greens were all crispy fresh. I washed down my truffle fries with a blacberry cider - slighly sweet and very flavorful. The server was very accomodating and set me up with samples of the ciders that they were offering that afternoon. Hope I find a reason to get back to Gearhart soon.More
I was on a long drive down the Oregon Coast when I got a bit hungry, so I decided to veer off of Highway 101 in Gearhart to investigate another of the McMenamin brothers growing list of restaurants. I was glad I did because I...got a very warm welcome from the hostess and my waitress! I ordered a Hawaiian pizza and a draft beer. Both were excellent and I left with a happy heart and a full stomach!More
The feel of McMenamin's Sand Trap is more like a clubhouse with a combined bar overlooking a golf course. The food was average. The wait staff was very enthusiastic. The wine menu is limited and there was no Rose wine on-site. The beer menu was...quite extensive.More
