I am a part-time resident on the North Oregon Coast and have passed this restaurant many times but have never stopped. On my most recent stay I decided to avoid the Seaside crowds and take a chance on a quick meal at El Trio Loco...and was pleasantly surprised. The service was prompt and friendly and the food was hot and tasty. They have a very extensive menu and although I did not have an alcoholic drink, the drink menu looked amazing. I will definitely be going back to try some of the other enticing items on the menu along with a frosty margarita!More

I don't think you will find any highly prized family recipes being passed down here, but the food is decent. Not great Mexican, just decent. The service was great and the atmosphere was clean, quiet and friendly. AND NO WAIT!! A very welcome change from...the highly overrated restaurants in downtown Seaside with ridiculously long wait times. A two mile drive north to Gearhart, very well worth it.More

I tried El Trio Loco during the pandemic, so I didn’t see much in the inside. I called to place an order & was told 10 minutes. I got there & the order was already waiting for me. I was pleasantly surprised by the portions...& the prices. $26 for two combinations. They were also really well packaged. Good Mexican cuisine I’ll definitely come see El Trio Loco again.More

After staying in Gearhart on a yearly basis for the last 22 years, we saw this place and decided to give it a try. We were seated promptly with friendly service. The chips were very good and I like it hotter so I asked for...the Habanero salsa... which was perfect with lots of flavor and really nice heat. My wife got the fajitas and I got the chicken a la diabla. The fajitas were great, with really great flavor. The diabla dish was good, not great, as the sauce was a little on the bland side. Rice and beans were as expected for an American-ized Mexican restaurant in the northwest. The service was prompt and friendly, along with better-than-good food, so they get 5 stars in my book. I’d return again in the future and probably get the fajitas and habanero sauce!More

Some of the best Mexican food on the North Coast. Located in a strip mall on 101 in Gearhart. Convenient to those day trippers from Portland or campers looking for a good hot meal. Wide selections on the menu as well as great margaritas. Check...out the small dishes on the menu. Large servings for a very reasonable price. Service is professional and very attentive. Larger group seating available in the bar. Highly recommend.More

Fast friendly service. If you're looking for a family friendly location where everyone can find something to eat this is a place to keep in mind. Wether hitting the beach or just passing through El Trio Loco is a great stop along the way.

If you've been searching for authentic cuisine, look no further. The staff is friendly, the food is fantastic. I try new things, Hubby loves the combo with a Chile Releaño, tamale & enchilada, it doesn't get more authentic than that

Please read carefully for the 5 star rating. Wife is Hispanic and we are very picky about eating out for Mexican food. This trip was only for seafood dish purposes. I ordered the Monterey Camarones (shrimp) and she order camarones ala diabla. Both dishes were...outstanding. We did not have any traditional non seafood Mexican dishes. We also each had a mango margarita and they were fantastic. Fresh, good mixture of alcohol to purée on the rocks with fresh pineapple. The salsa was well balanced though the wife felt it needed a little salt and I did not. We were more impressed that they offered a habanero salsa as well and it met all of our heat index expectations. Service was fine. They were busy but checked our table as often as would be expected and kept our water full. Rice and beans were fine. Rice was maybe just a little dry/crusty. Overall, fantastic choice based on what we were here for and will stop in again soon on our next trip over to the coast.More

Do not let the strip mall style front scare you away - very good Mexican food and service awaits you! Restaurant is quite roomy on the inside with a full bar area and separate section for regular dining. Service was friendly, attentive and quick. Loved...my jumbo flavored margarita! Huge Menu with lots of yummy choices to choose from - Mr had the Arroz con Pollo and I went spicy with Chicken a la Diabla - both were excellent! We loved this restaurant and will return soon!More

we went here after reading reviews that said it was the best Mexican food in Gearhart. We were seated quickly and given water right away....then we sat....and sat...no acknowledgment from several passing servers...nearly left when our server finally came to the table (same guy that...sat us, thought he was the host. So he KNEW we were there!) He seemed bored, our food was quick to the table, and not great...but we were hungry. Again, slow to check back, and drop check/pick up check. We NEVER tip below %20 but this time, we did. Felt bad, but he just didn't earn it, they were not busy. ( We made up for this @ The Pacific Way Cafe the next day...over tipped and had a fantastic meal and service!)More

The food is outstanding, however the service is lacking on occasion. We have been when the service is very good but a few times we have had to wait to get drinks or order even when there were only a couple of other customers there....Again, the food is always good and we will continue to come here when we are at the beach.More

It was very crowded on Cindo de Mayo and we didn't want to wait so ordered take-out. The enchiladas la crema are my favorite. The take-out dish was very dry and not covered with the white sauce like you receive in the restaurant. This happened...once before at their place in downtown Seaside. Next time we will go in and eat as this is one of the only places I can find this dish in the area. :)More
