Friday and Saturday nights dining with local music. Get there early to get a table near the dance floor, have a meal and beverage and dance the calories away.

The food here is not spectacular. The music makes up for it. We like the Wednesday jazz and often come for that and have a meal.

Friday night venture out of the nest , fifty-five mile drive to see Karen Lovely.Show begins at 8, we arrived just before seven. Our choice of seating was poor but we got a seat near the bar and not in viewing of the stage. They did have a video set up to see the stage from blind seating like ours. Cover charge for the show was fine. SUPPORT the musicians. It's how they make a living. Our waiter was lame and screwed up our order. He apologized but it didn't make it any better. I told him to cancel my salmon. Fo' get it dude. I helped finish my wife's fish and chips. It was fine, not outstanding. We did have an order of fried oysters that was excellent. It was the first time in years I didn't tip the wait person. I think the guy was "very speedy". Needless to say it kinda put a damper on the night. The stage in the bar set up isn't really a good venue if you are interested in really hearing the artist. It is noisy and people are partying in their own terms. It was impossible to really appreciate the act that deserved a lot more shut up and listen than this audience was going to give. Sometimes they have show upstairs in the ballroom. This night was on a par of disappointing. That said, Karen Lovely and Ben Rice are two GREAT musicians and singers and catch em live or on the internet.

Had a really great night out here with some friends. A really unique venue, full of character and ambience. Staff are friendly and the food is well prepared and presented. We went on the blues evening and had a fabulous evening out. Highly recommended

We went to Mac’s because we had a deal for a free entree. I really wish that we had stayed home. The place is old and tired. We had a new server who was very nice and attentive but he was still learning how to be a server. We waited a long time for our drinks, which were just average. We both ordered a French dip sandwich. Either the sandwich or the au jus sauce had a strange “off” taste. I ate very little of it. The cole slaw was delicious. The music was just starting up but we didn’t stay to listen to it. If you want to go to a funky bar and listen to a local band, this is the place to go. If, however, you want good food, go somewhere else.

The Vet's club, its more lasting name, was one of the first bars I frequented when I came to Eugene in 1976. I and my Vietnam Vet friends used to go there every weekend for the music and the cheap over poured drinks. Long island iced teas would put you on the floor after your second one. They still have great events, wonderful music, lots of local artists, true Eugene locals atmosphere and sometimes really good food. Food is a bit iffy depending on the day and the chef/cook. More often than not though it is very good. The beer is a bargain, the wait staff are all cordial and the bartenders are quick and efficient. Several band venues in the building accommodate some great event evenings. After all these years it is still one of my favorite Eugene hangouts...and dance halls...k

I usually won't write a "bad" review, until I've visited a place at least twice. Unfortunately, this was bad enough that I won't be returning. 1. The good: "Dueling Piano" entertainment was fantastic. They were at the level of dueling piano acts I have seen in Las Vegas. 2. The bad: We arrived on-time for a 6pm reservation, and were promptly seated. Our drink and food orders were taken, and drinks delivered. Fast forward 90 MINUTES, and still no food. Other tables that arrived after us were served, finished and GONE! 3. The really bad: The food was terrible. Two orders of fish and chips (a Eugene staple), a portabello burger, and a pork chop special. Easy, right? The two orders of fish & chips looked nothing alike. The fish was terrible, and they didn't even get the tots right! The portabello burger was cold, the bun was dry, and it was described as "yucky". Here's the "really bad". The pork shop "special" was delivered a full 10 minutes after everyone else's meal. Now here's the real surprise: It wasn't a pork chop after all, but a rare steak. What were we offered to redress this deplorable foor and service? One drink (not each, just one), and one slice of marginal pie (again, not one each, but just one). $92.00 later, a party of four left completely dissatisfied and hungry, since the food was unfit to finish. If you go into Mac's, go for the drinks and entertainment. They do those well. Just save yourself some grief, and eat elsewhere.

Extremely disappointed is an understatement! My partner and I came here to get a very nice gourmet dinner and listen to some nice music. I am been here several times in the past and was very impressed with the menu. The former Cook and the menu were phenomenal! The menu has been reduced to only four "dinner" items. None of which are gourmet now. All dishes are pre-cooked and reheated. If you like 'rare or medium rare' forget it. You can't order a steak any less than medium since it was cooked earlier in the day. Also over seasoned with sauce. My salmon was the same. It was overlooked on the edges. Although the blackened flavor was good. Both of our baked potatoes were under cooked and we couldn't even get our forks in the middle of them. We sent them back and they still came back hard in the middle. The Best part of the meal was the over cooked vegetables. They had great flavor although they were mushy. I'll include some photos so you know I'm not making this up. They are now handing out prizes so you come back. Enticing people to come back The place was empty. I sure hope the bands can draw people here because the food sucks. We will never be back unless we want to listen just to Music. It's obvious they are hurting since they tried twice to hand out specials for us to come back. By the way the "bottleneck blues band" that was here tonight really was great. It was too bad that place was so empty. I can't imagine they will be back either they are from Portland. I rarely give bad reviews but this one really deserves it.

This place has the best fried oysters in town with a fairly reasonable price. I have always ordered the oysters with a side salad when we have gone for dinner. With that being said, the side salad in the past has always had cheese, bacon and some other "stuff" in it and I have never been disappointed. We had dinner there last night and I ordered the oysters and the side salad. The same as always. The side salad was $7, the oysters $11. When the food came, imagine my surprise to see that the salad was just lettuce, a few tomatoes and cucumbers. That's it. When I asked the waitress about it, she totally lacked customer service skills. Instead of saying, "I'm sorry, let me check on that for you", she said "I've been here 10 months and it has always been the same." Her service was slow, she forgot the condiments and a spoon for the soup my husband ordered. Mind you, it was a Thursday night and it was not busy. We have visited this place for over 20 yrs. We have had this waitress before and she was awful. The price of the salad was a rip off for $7. This experience will not bring us back for awhile.

Love the Tues Night Blues Jam. Food and atmosphere is consistent with a bar/pub. An older crowd which is great for us.

We come to listen to the Tracys and meet friends who are fans but the food is about like Denny's, middle-America 1960. Not bad but you've had this 4765 times before. Dancing if you get up and join the dancers. A fun place week nights or weekends.

Although this is called a "restaurant and nightclub" it's more like a burger joint and fun music place with a bar. I've only gone on Tuesdays when they have jam blues bands (all great BTW) so I can't comment on other days, but this is a great place to go with, friends, or for a casual date. Even family, although to be honest I've never seen kids in here. No smokey "nightclub" atmosphere here -- windows and a bright room, band(s) in the corner not overly loud, a small dance area that's well=used. Food is mostly burger-type stuff. Good food but nothing to write home about, but it's also reasonably priced. You're a vegetarian? No problem....they've got vege burgers on the menu. I like the drinks but honestly I'm not enough of a connoisseur to give a good review on them. I'm a lightweight and suspect they're a bit weak. Just come here for the overall atmosphere and you won't be disappointed.

Mac's is, in my opinion the best place in Eugene for Blues and Jazz. There is music most nights. There is a nice dance floor and a "good time" atmosphere. The food ranges from bar food to steaks and fish. This is an institution in Eugene and anyone with a love of Blues and food is in for a very good experience.

My wife and I enjoy going to Mac's for a relaxing night out. The food is very good and the prices are fair. Mac's is a bit noisy when the live music is playing, but not over the top. The decor is simple, but that is part of why we like it. The food has never disappointed. Give them a try. :-)
