We saw the reviews and decided to give it a try. We were greeted by a very tense hostess. Our server was Lance. It seemed he was not interested in serving us because we were sitting outside on a warm day. We ordered a botle of wine then asked for assistance in ordeing from he menu. Instead of suggesting items... More

This a fun place to share a meal. Great neighborhood. Asian food especially good. I was lucky enough to eat with one of their chefs - my brother-in-law.

We've been meaning to go to Izakaya Meiji for two years - ever since we got back from Osaka, Japan. We often visit this area of town. My husband can't resist Vanilla Jill's - which is just down the street - for their delicious and sometimes exotic, organic, and even Vegan ice cream. We shop at the Little Red Barn.... More

Okay, t'is is my last review, period. I travel quite a bit; therefore, I understand the value of locals' opinions. I came to Eugene to attend graduate school. I've since remained. For many reasons, some of which I hope you enjoy when you visit. The quintessential above is misspelled purposely. Meiji's (as it is referred by locally) is owned by... More

This place sounded good on paper, but it wasn't what I expected. It did have interesting sounding small plates at reasonable prices, but eating them was not thrilling. The place seemed to cater to more of a bar crowd.

My daughter and I chose this restaurant because they have japanese rice balls on the menu (onigiri). The nori was the freshest I've ever had and the miso soup was wonderful! Soo fresh! My daughter had the fried octopus and it was tender and full of flavor! Reasonably priced portions and lots of american and japanese offerings! Only 15 minute... More

Hopping busy place, which is why it's overly noisy. Food very tasty but overly small portions, but also prices matching the amount of food. But $4 for 1/2 a cob of corn? Come on, there's no gold in it for goodness sakes! Wait staff attentive. Drink portions also really meager fir the price. Not a great value but a great... More

In the happening part of Eugene which is worth visiting many times over as there are other bars and restaurants all worth visiting... Izakaya is a very nice bar (well it has two bars) with well made drinks and top shelves that literally reach the ceiling, Wine and beers are not quite as varied, but there is something for everyone.... The octopus was apparently delicious. The drunken clams were good as well as pork with apple and thyme. In short everyone enjoyed their dinners. My Cosmo was subpar. Very busy place. Others in my group would give a more enthusiastic review I am sure.

Expect a wait but it is well worth it. We tried so many different plates from the chicken, octopus and calamari. Our favorite was the calamari and Octopus. The drinks were fantastic. One of the better mixologists. They also have a nice selection of beers on tap. Don't miss out on a great night out at a reasonable price.

Specializing in Japanese small plates, old school cocktails and whiskey bar but thank goodness no sushi. The theme is based on a Japanese tavern or sake house. sake
