The emphasis here is mainly small plates - delicious bites. If you're looking for a hearty meal, this wouldn't be it, and don't look for sushi. My favourite bite was a Japanese riff on Coquille St. Jacques: 2 large scallops with matsutake mushrooms ($13). The Goma Ae ($4) - spinach with sesame dressing - was a snappy version on the... More

Great eclectic, small plate restaurant in the heart of The Whit. Hipster-ish vibe - oh no, I went there! - but, that shouldn't deter those that want good eats in The Whit - even though that description is apropos (to a degree), the unpretentiousness of Meiji is appealing. Try the Udon Curry or the Red Snapper...yum, delicious.

Go early! To east of 3rd around corner from restaurant is free parking which is very tough to find. Area buzzing with activity. Friend went early and got window table.Does take awhile to get food. I did not realize it had an incredible Whiskey menu and other drinks. Nice ambiance, dim and not too loud. Great waiter. Small plate offerings... More

They have insane, impolite rules -- two people cannot sit at a tiny wobbly table outside, with four wobbly folding chairs -- it must be four people, even if the restaurant is empty? All this to protect their very average sort-of-asian appetizer menu? Avoid this increasingly and unjustifiably snobby place. It has become very out-of-place in the wonderful Whiteaker neighborhood.

Contemporary Japanese food -- well done! A fun place as well -- small plates and fun sharing -- some odd (to American) food choices but clearly well done and ohhhh so good. Also fun cocktails and very pleasant wait staff - eat in or out.....

This was our first visit to Eugene, and this restaurant was a highlight. The food was delicious—the octopus is a must! My boyfriend is a craft cocktail enthusiast and bartender, and he was highly impressed with their drink selection. If you go to Eugene, you've got to go here!

Open late. We order lots of small plates. They come out whenever and that's great with us. Alcoholic slushies are a huge hit. We've never been disappointed.

Our little air Bnb was near here so we walked inside on a hot night - you can sit outdoors but it was too hot! We were delightfully surprised - lots of small dishes to combine for a meal and wonderful drinks as well as a fine selection of saki, which we really appreciated. We shared some dishes and had... We saw the reviews and decided to give it a try. We were greeted by a very tense hostess. Our server was Lance. It seemed he was not interested in serving us because we were sitting outside on a warm day. We ordered a botle of wine then asked for assistance in ordeing from he menu. Instead of suggesting items... More

This a fun place to share a meal. Great neighborhood. Asian food especially good. I was lucky enough to eat with one of their chefs - my brother-in-law.

Thank Bookcd

Specializing in Japanese small plates, old school cocktails and whiskey bar but thank goodness no sushi. The theme is based on a Japanese tavern or sake house. sake
