We had reservations for the restaurant side, brought family for a birthday dinner. Staff was gracious & knowledgeable about the menu. Our waiter was fantastic.
The atmosphere is warm and intimate, comfy booths and tables with decorative screens creating a feeling of privacy but with...a view of the whole spacious restaurant. We enjoyed the fire going and the atrium windows. (Note-Next time I'd make reservations for a window seat.) Perfect for a romantic date, group celebration, or classy business event, when you want to splurge.
Cocktails were spot on, grumpy Margarita always a fave, house blended white and G & T.
Everyone loved their dinners, with a couple tiny snafu's which is why I've given a rating of four starts instead of five, but all in all it was a FANTASTIC meal and everyone was happy and impressed.
I ordered spare ribs, which were tender and falling off the bone, seasoned and sauced to perfection. Three ribs were a huge portion, and exactly the way you'd hope for with lots of flavor.
Hubby ordered the smaller bavette steak, medium rare, it was delicious and more than expected. We especially love the chimichurri sauce and the home made pickled onions and cuke garnish. These are a la care entrees so we shared side orders of quinoa salad and mushroom risotto. The quinoa salad was good but the quinoa was not cooked until the grain opened up and was hard and almost crunchy, not sure if that was intentional. Since it was hard, it didn't soak up the blackberry chipotle dressing, which is deliciously sweet and spicy, so it tasted over-sauced and a bit too sweet. I felt it was overpriced for what it was-and not something you could have as a main. The risotto was perfectly cooked with lots of mushrooms but lacked flavor, one bite and I wanted to salt it.
Our guests had a Houston smoked burger and fries, delicious and flavorful burger which he fully enjoyed, and the Brazilian salmon which was brought out as a salad, not the dinner she ordered. The waiter brought corn risotto to compensate for the mistake and she fully enjoyed it. The salmon was moist and tender inside with a crispy, seasoned glaze outside, and came on a bed of salad with all the goodies.
For dessert we shared a slice of Chocolate torte-wonderful. Special mention goes to the tres leches cake with raspberry sauce, it was probably the best tres leches cake I've ever had, very moist with a touch of cinnamon flavor.
Drinks, dinner and dessert for four with tip topped $200. We enjoyed it very much and will be back.
*I understand that this could have been a five star review if things were different, that getting back to business with new rules and limitations makes it hard on restaurant staff and we're grateful for the hard work and attention to detail.
We thank you!More
