8-18-20. Staying at a nearby hotel the receptionist recommened the De Fuego Grille in the Monarch Hotel - Clackamas for dinner. The menu has many interesting choices most leaning towards a variation of South American/Mexican dishes, it was hard to decide what I wanted, everything...was very appealing. I choose the special Oaxaca Guacamole appetizer & the Brazilian Salmon served on top of creamy risotto with grilled corn, both excellent & large portions of each. Definitely going back to De Fuego Grille. There are nightly specials in the dining room, not sure if they are offered in the bar or outdoor dining off the bar. Highly recommend making a reservation for the dining room, believe the bar & outside dining is first come first seated. I was alone & the dining room tables where I sat were well spaced & those by the window overlooking the pool area were separated by trifold screening.More

I highly recommend de Fuego in clackamas. We've been here 2 times and very good experience both times. The short ribs melt in your mouth. The Peruvian chicken comes with delicious pickles. The seating area inside and outside is well appointed

We had reservations for the restaurant side, brought family for a birthday dinner. Staff was gracious & knowledgeable about the menu. Our waiter was fantastic. The atmosphere is warm and intimate, comfy booths and tables with decorative screens creating a feeling of privacy but with...a view of the whole spacious restaurant. We enjoyed the fire going and the atrium windows. (Note-Next time I'd make reservations for a window seat.) Perfect for a romantic date, group celebration, or classy business event, when you want to splurge. Cocktails were spot on, grumpy Margarita always a fave, house blended white and G & T. Everyone loved their dinners, with a couple tiny snafu's which is why I've given a rating of four starts instead of five, but all in all it was a FANTASTIC meal and everyone was happy and impressed. I ordered spare ribs, which were tender and falling off the bone, seasoned and sauced to perfection. Three ribs were a huge portion, and exactly the way you'd hope for with lots of flavor. Hubby ordered the smaller bavette steak, medium rare, it was delicious and more than expected. We especially love the chimichurri sauce and the home made pickled onions and cuke garnish. These are a la care entrees so we shared side orders of quinoa salad and mushroom risotto. The quinoa salad was good but the quinoa was not cooked until the grain opened up and was hard and almost crunchy, not sure if that was intentional. Since it was hard, it didn't soak up the blackberry chipotle dressing, which is deliciously sweet and spicy, so it tasted over-sauced and a bit too sweet. I felt it was overpriced for what it was-and not something you could have as a main. The risotto was perfectly cooked with lots of mushrooms but lacked flavor, one bite and I wanted to salt it. Our guests had a Houston smoked burger and fries, delicious and flavorful burger which he fully enjoyed, and the Brazilian salmon which was brought out as a salad, not the dinner she ordered. The waiter brought corn risotto to compensate for the mistake and she fully enjoyed it. The salmon was moist and tender inside with a crispy, seasoned glaze outside, and came on a bed of salad with all the goodies. For dessert we shared a slice of Chocolate torte-wonderful. Special mention goes to the tres leches cake with raspberry sauce, it was probably the best tres leches cake I've ever had, very moist with a touch of cinnamon flavor. Drinks, dinner and dessert for four with tip topped $200. We enjoyed it very much and will be back. *I understand that this could have been a five star review if things were different, that getting back to business with new rules and limitations makes it hard on restaurant staff and we're grateful for the hard work and attention to detail. We thank you!More

We arrived in the bar slightly before 3 pm on Sunday. There were a few occupied tables but the place was mostly empty so we had our pick. Lots of intimate booths & tables on multiple levels with a small video lottery section in the...back. It was dark with lots of candles and soft lighting, very classy but cozy. We ate from the happy hour/bar menu which has an great and varied selection. My Roku Lychee cocktail was okay, not very flavorful but hubby's grumpy pineapple margerita was insanely good! Food was exceptional. Field greens salad was so yummy- large portion for sharing. If meat was added it would be a good meal. The San Antonio burger knocked it out of the park, fries thin and crispy. Chimi steak frites was decadent-we ate every bit. The steak is served on top of the fries with sauce and blue cheese over the top, a bit messy but worth it. We shared a large portion of layered chocotorta with whipped cream and fresh blueberries and raspberries. By the time we left it was almost packed. Staff was perfect-friendly, didn't hover, didn't neglect. We can't wait to try the restaurant, which didn't open for dinner until later like 5 pm? The restaurant is reached by going into the lobby of the Monarch Hotel, but the bar has a door that opens to the parking lot, they're separate. How cool that we don't have to go into Portland for such great food, FAR exceeded expectation!More
