John's menu celebrates locally sourced, genuine food!!! No pre-made, pre-packaged, instant stuff here. The corporately sourced products certainly have a place in my stomach, dont get me wrong, but what a treat to eat at Sweet Basil's with such well prepared, and well thought-out recipes. No fear of flavor here and spice here- the jamabalaya will rock your tongue and... More

We're referred by a woman in a local shop who mentioned that the Chef had studied in New Orleans We used to live in New Orleans before SO CAL so were a little skeptical. We ordered the traditional jambalaya and also the crawfish étouffée. What a treat! To find étouffée in Cannon Beach was awesome. Both dishes were cooked to... More

Came in to Cannon Beach to meet with friends and have a nice meal last Friday evening. While wandering around town that morning, walked into a coffee shop and there was a blonde at the counter chatting with a couple. I wanted to find a way to speak to her, so started chatting about the weather, and asked if she... More

If you want a grown -up meal that isn't the standard menu this is the place for you. I always stop at Sweet Basli's Café when in Cannon Beach for my special dinner out. This is my second time to Sweet Basil. As with the first visit, the food is first rate. Fantastic vegan selection, and all of the food tastes delicious. However, this time, the service was downright rude. The food is so good, and the options in CB so scarce, that I still recommend Sweet Basil, but the service this time was... More

I love this little café. I never get there often enough. I have brought several friends and the menu never disappoints.

We loved that it was warm enough in the evening to dine outdoors on the shady deck. The musician was excellent - on guitar, mandolin and banjo. We had the eggplant appetizer and then parsley-garlic aoeli on halibut steak and spinach. The menu and waiter urged us to try the chef's special, and we were glad we did.
