We spent a few nights in Cannon Beach and had mixed dining and take out experiences until we tried the Bistro...they were by far the best. We wanted something lighter, and ordered two pear salads and some crab cakes. Both items were prepared perfectly. Plenty of crab in the cakes! The order was prepped on time and they even added two hunks of amazing olive rosemary bread. What an unexpected yet totally welcomed addition. Well Done, Bistro!

Sauces that make your mouth and brain expand. We always have whatever special Jack has prepared for the evening and sit in awe of the layered and complex flavors he creates. The steelhead is the best I’ve ever tasted! Friendly and attentive staff, live music often and a great bar to catch a game with a delicious cocktail. Not to be missed!

This is a restaurant with the best taste in foods. We started with a smooth pinot noir and my wife ordered the pork porter house and I ordered the linguini and prawns. You can't get food like this where we live. Service by Dominic was very nice.

We were staying at the Stephanie Inn and were unable to get a reservation for their dinner so were looking for an upscale restaurant for our weekend. We saw the Bistro had positive reviews and were able to get right in. When entering, we were pleased and hopeful as it was quite charming walking up and a duo were playing live music. A very pleasant woman greeted us and seated us and was also our server. We placed our order for the fresh pasta and the short rib. About 10 minutes later, our entrees came. It didn't occur to us at the time, but 10 minutes is pretty fast for a freshly prepared meal. The short rib was quite large but full of fat that was inedible. The potato souffle looked, quite frankly, like someone had gotten sick. It was disgusting both in taste, texture and temperature (room temperature). The sauce on the rib was very vinegary. The pasta dish was also huge but on the first bite was loaded with salt to the point that it was inedible. We were unsure which to send back and sent back the pasta due to the saltiness. It is awkward in this situation because we know restaurants are struggling and you had to send both things back that are awful. Again, our server was gracious and came back and said no salt at all was in the dish. How odd! I mean, I would think there should be SOME salt...but no seasoning whatsoever? I ordered a caesar salad instead and while it looked beautiful, the taste was off. I cannot quite place it but I think the oil in the dressing was rancid. We didn't say anything because we felt badly enough about sending back the pasta. At the end of the meal, our server took away the plate of uneaten short rib, potato and vegetable and said not a word. Clearly, it had not been enjoyed. I know there are lots of complaints here and I am not sure of the correct way to handle such a bad, bad meal. We did end up paying for the $45 uneaten plate of food and the $12 salad but for certain will not be back. Hopefully it was an off night but it really felt as if everything was pre-made, reheated, and not fresh.

Admittedly, the Bistro was our second choice for the evening, as Sweet Basil's was full with an hour+ wait time (even at 5:00!). We had no reservations, but found space at the bar. This was a perfect place to sit to watch the bartender's artistry, and their cosmos are amazing. It was also a really friendly place with a mix of locals and tourists, so it was a chatty, warm atmosphere. Atmosphere trumped food, however. My friend ordered seafood fettuccini, and he was really disappointed, describing his dish as "Bertolli Alfredo." I ordered the ahi, which was ordinary, at best. For the quality, it was overpriced: a ho hum restaurant trying to compete in a town with some really great restaurants.

Service was great but, that does not make up for poor food. First, the bread was dry and not worth the calories to eat. We both had the homemade pasta dish. On mine I added prawns and they were small shrimp, not prawns. The flavor was just ok. So, I ate less than 1/2 of the dish. My friend ordered hers with chicken and kept saying it was very salty. I tried hers and it was. She also ate less than 1/2. When our waitress came to take our plates, she clearly saw most the food left on the plates and did not even ask if all was ok. We complained about the chicken pasta being too salty and she said she would tell the kitchen. Then did nothing to refund any of the price. Now I see someone else who reviewed had the same experience. Clearly, they do not care what they deliver to their customers. This place is not cheap....find somewhere else to dine.

Reservations are a must. Seating begins at 5 pm. The wine list was excellent. The food was artistically prepared and served, and my mixologist-trained wife's Margarita was perfect. It was unusual to be in a fine restaurant with a few of the guests wearing baseball caps, but, it was a beach town.

I wouldn't mind paying the price if the food was delicious. I thought the food was mediocre. Starting our meals off with the chowder and the crab cakes we were disappointed from the start. They both lacked in taste and presentation. The pork chops were nice and tender but didn't make up for the rest.

So overall the food and service were good. But 3 things lowered the overall rating. 1. Similar to other reviews, several dishes were on the salty side: particularly the clam chowder and porkchop. 2. We ordered the special which were scallops on risotto. The food was fine but was more than surprised that the price on the bill was over US$62 for that one dish. 3. If the waiter had mentioned the price when he was explaining the special, we would have ordered something else.

We had a lovely meal at the Canon Beach Bistro. Our server was so friendly and the food was very tasty. We had the home made linguine and the King Salmon special. Both were excellent. The only negative was that I forgot to ask the price of the Salmon. It was very speedy and I would have picked something else if I had know the price. The desert was different and a perfect ending to the meal.

We had a gal's weekend in Cannon Beach and our experience at this restaurant was the perfect way to top it off. Service was fabulous, the food was creatively displayed and very tasty, the selection of cocktails was unique and flavorful, and the low-key live guitar music was lovely. I cannot think of one way to improve our experience - it was PERFECT. THANK YOU!! Can't wait to return!

Excellent customer service: we arrived before the rest of party, servers introduced themselves, provided drinks and made us comfortable until the rest of our group arrived. Servers were polite and attentive during the meal. Excellent meal: the crab cakes were delicious. The Vietnamese style chicken tasted as good as it looked. My husband's halibut was good. Portions were reasonable. The cheesecake was light and a perfect ending to the meal. Wine selection was spot on for the meal. The atmosphere was also excellent: .the décor was interesting but not overwhelming and the guitar player hit the right note. It was a perfect ending to a wonderful day.

This is a nice little restaurant with very slow service. We waited 10 minutes to be seated though we were on time for our reservations, more for a waiter, still more for bread. We never did get water. The food was nice — I had the linguini with prawns, which was great, and my husband liked his cioppino. My glass of Pinot gris was good too. You can eat outside too. (There was some really awful live music being performed there when we arrived.)

From the moment we arrived we were greeted warmly by JJ and welcomed. Our waiter Erkan really made the evening special for us. He was warm, friendly, and of course knowledgeable in all the items offered. The food was delicious and home made/grown. It was a lovely overall experience and I would highly recommend Bistro to anyone looking for a great dining experience. My only suggestion is that the Linguini is so lovely, it does not need near that much garlic to make it special. Thank you!
