Sunday night visit. Vibe was excellent! The food was great! Waitstaff was super friendly and on top of it! We overnighed in Brookings and tried Fat Irish on the recommendation of the hotel clerk. Our experience was great from the start. Within two minutes of walking in, we had a Guinness and a margaritas. We kicked off with Savage Fries, which were perfectly cooked wedge cut fries topped with shredded corned beef and Louie Sauce. This easily could be a meal with a side salad. Very good! Next we each ordered a Black N Blue salad. This is essentially a really fresh cobb salad topped with a good sized Angus beef patty and slices of thick cut bacon. Blue cheese crumbles and dressing were on the side. Again, it was good and very filling. There was nothing to complain about. We definitely will be back next time in Brookings. 27J

Such a cute place. Decor is just right for an Irish pub, album covers from Irish bands, on tap beer handles lined up over the windows. Staff was friendly and prompt. Unfortunately, the food was a big disappointment. We both got fish & chips. Weird batter on the fish, the chips were hard, over cooked and the coleslaw was in name only. The worst tartar sauce I’ve ever had-have they ever had tartar sauce? Way too much vinegar, Even jarred sauce is better. Sorry guys. These criticisms are easily rectified and as we drive through Brookings fairly often, I’d be happy to try your establishment again tho I’ll check the reviews beforehand.

On the suggestion of how amazing the Irish Stew was I ordered it in a bowl with garlic toast on the side. The toast was great, the stew not so much. Upon seeing it in the bowl I paused. Unsure as to what exactly had I ordered. I've posted a picture. You tell me. It had a total of 4 chunks of beef in the entire bowl and easily counted on one hand that many carrots. Think cooked all day mini carrot stick size chunks. Onions and celery, was it celery or maybe those teeny tiny lumps were potatoes? Maybe. What ever it was it was a globby thick paste and made me wonder if someone had thickened it with corn starch and not eliminated all the lumps. I searched for the Guinness beer flavor, it likely cooked out of the stew hours before I ordered. I tried to eat it, it sat on top the bread. I searched for more meat and carrots and then called off the search party leaving the glob in the bowl. Resigned myself to saying, I should've sent it back upon the first look, even though I've never sent anything back before in my life. If ordered early in the day it might have been amazing. Not at 4PM. Maybe not at 2.

First time meal for two people. Our breakfast was served cold, the coffee tasted like tea, had to ask for our toast, and the ketchup had some serious funky, sticky substance on it that came off onto one plate before realizing it. No napkins provided. Food was greasy, and we had upset stomachs through the afternoon. Not coming back.

We ordered 2 meals to go from the online menu that priced the Fish & Chips at 3 pieces for $12 or 4 pieces at $16. I asked for the 4-piece fish and Chips and was told they were $18 and if that was, ok? I said yes thinking the price had gone up. Fat Irish Pub charged us $18 for 3 pieces. The beer batter had a very thick crust and was drenched with lots of cooking oil. The fish was not as tender and tasty as other restaurants. I pulled the crust away and could see the silver still on the cod. The coleslaw was bland and about 4 TBPS. The tartar sauce is not up to par about 2 TBPS. The potato wedges were very tasty, unfortuantly served under the Fish. We would not order this again. We were very disappointed since the reviews were good.

The decor was cute, and the wait staff were excellent, however, the food was terrible. My husband and I ordered fish and chips with a cup of clam chowder. The fish was over breaded and oily, the chips (potato wedges) were over cooked (dark brown) and then slightly reheated and oily too. The cole slaw was boring, bitter and chewy. It tasted like a cole slaw mix with old cabbage. The clam chowder had too much celery that was under cooked, very few clam bits and the bacon was overpowering.

Horrible service and the food was not so great. My hubby and I both ordered a burger. I asked for the Louie sauce and American cheese. It was $2 extra for a slice of Kraft cheese. Didn’t even cover the burger. My burger had no sauce at all. My hubby asked for rumalade sauce and bleu cheese. His burger came and had no cheese at all. We til the waiter so he brought a little plastic container of bleu cheese to put on the already cold burger. There was one piece of tomato and onions sliced super thin. The only thing good about this meal were the beers. The waiter never would come back over until he brought the bill. I guess we should have learned our lesson when the last time it was horrible too. Sure have gone down hill. Don’t go here if you want a good meal and good service.

Fat Irish Kitchen & Pub in Brookings, Oregon has great atmosphere and service, the outdoor dinning was busy but not crowded and the service was exceptional. While it’s no longer owned by an Irishman the food is outstanding and the selection is beyond “bar food” and very tasty. You can’t go wrong with the Fish & Chips and Cottage Pie, both were delicious, the staff are engaging and it’s a great place to eat.

This was very good food and the service was great. Hearty meals and great portions. Our male waiter for lunch (8/10) was super nice and helpful with suggestions for other restaurants in town. He was a total hotty too in case he reads this.

Unfortunately, in our opinion, Fat Irish was much better 3 years ago under different ownership. The food is 'eh, okay' and each time we go there now, the food is inedible (we will not be returning anytime soon). Our most recent visit we ordered the savage fries and a couple of beers, we asked that the corned beef be left off the fries. The dish came to us and it looked like someone puked in the bowl. Barely warm fries covered in unmelted shredded cheese and swimming in what looked and tasted like thousand island dressing - GROSS. The atmosphere USED to b awesome, great music and great service. Now, not so much (music sucks). The 'feel' is gone and the food and warm beer aren't worth it.

The menu has great homemade offerings that you won't find elsewhere, like a salmon sandwich with citrus coleslaw dressing and avocado, plus the all the usual dressings. Hubs loved the corned beef tacos. The service was great and we were lucky to stop in on a sunny, warm day when the deck was the perfect spot for lunch.

We went on taco Tuesday my husband got one of each of the tacos. He did not love them however, I thought they had a great flavor! The fish and chips were very very good. Highly recommend clam chowder was OK nothing to brag about the customer service on the other hand left a lot to be desired. We were never checked on. We had to ask for her to go boxes and the check and then tried to go inside to pay because nobody ever came back. My kids got hamburgers and they were OK.

We had this restaurant recommended by family members who recommended the fish and chips. This used to be a little seafood restaurant by the harbor, so didn’t know what to expect from an Irish themed locale. We were greeted and served promptly, it was busy (lunch hour day after Thanksgiving), but had nice high top seats. The food was very good, fish and chips was hot and tender, the clam chowder excellent. The fish and chips was a bit oily, but perhaps previous posters complaining about this have never had fish and chips at a pub in Ireland or the UK. Seemed about right to us. Service was a high mark considering how busy it was. We tipped accordingly. Cheers!

Fantastic atmosphere, generous portions, and a very friendly and professional staff. The Clam Chowder in a bread bowl was loaded with clams and the calamari was good as well. They have a full bar and a happy hour that starts 3pm. Highly recommend.
