Our friends had recommended Oxenfre Public House because he's had their steak before and said it was fantastic. They no longer serve steak and have a VERY limited bar menu; maybe 5 or 6 items. Needless to say, we had one drink and left.

Maybe this was a restaurant at one time, but I believe that it is now a bar. My family was "kicked out" because we had a child with us. Not sure, but it would seem no food is offered at all.
This is our new favorite restaurant. Definitely the best on the central or southern Oregon Coast. During the last two visits we had the short ribs, burger, Reuben, and fried eggs. Everything was excellent. The service was fast and friendly. The presentation was spot on...and I don't know how the food could have tasted any better. As far as the price, I don't think this was out of line with other restaurants. Prices seem to be going up everywhere. If you find a restaurant with better food and lower prices, please let me know.More
Try their Fish Market offering if you like an Asian inpired preparation. The ling cod they were featuring was delicious. Also enjoyed the Janes Addiction vodka cocktail. Service was friendly and competent. I don't expect swift service during a pandemic. It appeared they only had...two servers who were kept very busy, even mid week. Very enjoyable meal.More
Not sure if all the restaurants in Brookings got together and decided to make customers wait a minimum of 90 minutes to get food but that seems to be the norm. Restaurant wasn’t too busy but the food took a really long time to come...out. They forgot part of my daughters order and charged us for two cherry cokes when they only had one of the specialty sodas that both of my children ordered. Food was pretty good. Nicely cooked steak but for waiting 90 minutes I’m not sure why they didn’t actually cook the carrots and broccoli that accompanied it. Way too al dente! I was really looking forward to trying the salty balls dessert- come on that’s funny! But alas they were all sold out. I made do with chocolate mousse which looks like a scoop of pudding for $10. Got it to go and they didn’t give me a spoon. I guess I’m licking it out of the box! Ps. Just fashioned a spoon from a plastic cup. Mousse is mediocre at best. Skip it.More
When you dine at Oxenfre, be sure to buckle up! Otherwise, you might be blown out of your seat with the fabulous food on their menu! over the Independence Day weekend, my wife and I took a friend out for dinner and asked about the...local eateries. Oxenfre was the choice and was I ever glad! The atmosphere is relaxed and it is clear the locals love it. The drinks were good and the service from BRIANNA was excellent. On to the food! I had the Mestizo Chicken and my wife had the Cod Tacos. all I can say is, "OMG!"The Mestizo Chicken was possibly the best thing I've ever eaten and I would swear to that on the Food Network! The onion strings on top are light and crispy, the cilantro/lime chimichurri was magnificent! The corn and the "masa" cakes were an excellent addition, but the chicken was shear perfection! The skin was perfectly seared and crispy and the cook was even and juicy! I actually had to stop eating for a moment to snap out of my reverie and be able to tell my wife how wonderful it was. The look on her face was shear amazement as she'd never heard me fawn over a meal the way I did this one! She eventually was able to let me know that her tacos were absolutely delicious also. Make no mistake about it, I will be back to dine at Oxenfre again!More
We ordered the fried deviled eggs because we've read such great reviews. They are tasty and great but highly priced for eggs. We ordered the Pastrami Sandwich and it's good but man again $18 for a sandwich? It was on a pretzel roll which I...love so I was tempted. It was great leftover the next day too. We also ordered the short rib wraps. They are good but nothing like they used to be. They used to have a ton of meat but now hardly any. They do make an awesome Black n Tan Beer.More
Good variety of craft beers and spirits. The food gets more adventurous than typical bar food. It makes for an exciting meal. My wife and I enjoyed the ambience...not too loud, but not too quiet either.
We really enjoyed this pub with a great beverage selection and an emphasis on all things porky! After an hour wait (nothing shocking for a Friday night), we were more than ready to eat! My wife ordered a chimichurri topped steak and I ordered the...poutine with pork belly and additional lardons. The steak was perfectly cooked and tasty, accompanied by roasted veggies. My poutine was excellent, full of cheesy and pork goodness. Our server took great care of us, making sure we had full drinks to go with our meal. We will definitely come back to Oxenfré whenever we return to Brookings!More
This is my number one go to spot. The mixed drinks are on point. The door is always good. You can’t go wrong here. Enjoy!
Excellent food, service is a little slow, but it didn’t ruin the meal. I got the deviled eggs, and the chicken and waffles. Both were delicious. Great selection of beer as well. I’d definitely return.
Great meal. We have been traveling down the coast of Oregon, and while we’ve had some delicious seafood meals, were were about “fished out”. We had the hanger steak here and it was really delicious. It’s served with a mix of fresh veggies, as well...as the mashed potatoes. The veggies were cooked perfectly, the potatoes were heavenly, and the meat was so tender. Loved this meal. My hubby and I also shared the mixed greens salad, which had so many tasty components: Humboldt fog cheese, almonds, beets, grapefruit. Yummy! The cocktails are also great, as is the service. We have been traveling through Oregon for the last 10 days, and this was one of our favorite meals. Thank you Oxenfre!More
We had driven 6+ hours from Portland with smoke from wildfires making the trip challenging. We arrived in Brookings early evening and wanted dinner before calling it a night. Oxenfre was the perfect choice with an excellent dinner, good drink selection and prompt service. We...are in Brookings for 4 more days and will make a return tripMore
Service very slow, very very loud, and way too expensive, much better is just north about 1 mile, Ohallerans Steakhouse
