I'm always on the hunt for decent barbeque in Bend, having spent 10 years in the South where good barbeque is easy to find. The Pickled Pig is not it. This restaurant is located at the Bend Airport and has a good view of the...runways. The people seemed friendly enough, showed us where the menus were and left us to peruse. I ordered the Big Pig, which was pulled pork and slice sausage on a bun with the choice of 2 sides, I got the spicy coleslaw and the mac and cheese. Food was delivered within 15 minutes and the visual reaction was disappointing. The mac and cheese was supposedly made in house but it looked old and dried out, not creamy, all the cheese was congealed in the bottom of the plastic cup. The coleslaw was supposed to be spicy but no spice was to be tasted. There was a good helping of meat on the sandwich but the meat was dry and not very flavorful. Plenty of ribbons and awards hanging on the wall, I have trouble seeing those awards having come from the type of food I was served.More

The Pickled Pig specializes in barbecue food. You obtain the menu at the register where you also place your order, and the meals are delivered to the table of your choice. Utensils, napkins, water, and condiments are self-service. Several tables have a full view of...the runway and there are also several tables outside on the open deck (no roof cover). The atmosphere is definitely informal. My "Big Cubano" sandwich was piping hot and tasted good, although it was a bit greasy for my liking. I had a choice of fries, tater tots, beans, coleslaw, potato salad, macaroni & cheese, or a side salad. I chose the beans, which were okay, slightly spicy in a BBQ sauce with cut-up bacon strips. We also tried the "Pig Trough", which came with both coleslaw and a big helping of fries. The sandwich was good, while the fries were okay. This second floor cafe can be reached via either the stairway or by elevator.More

Fun location at the airport with views of the runway, hills, and sky, but only average food. I ordered the half rack of ribs which were chewy and needed a few more hours. No sides come with ribs & have to be ordered separately. My...husband had the Pig Trough sandwich which was also only okay. Neither of us liked the barbecue sauce; we can find better sauce at a grocery store. The Pickled Pig was a disappointment.More

We had lunch and both had the daily Tuesday special rib barbecue. The service was very good, fast and friendly. The barbecue was hardly edible. Small cubes of pork which were dry, overcooked, and had fat hidden in the barbecue sauce. The accompanying French fries were...very good being both hot and crispy and the salad good also. With all the restaurants rewards for barbecuing this was a big disappointment. With the friendly service we would give the restaurant a second chance.More

We love going here for lunch! They also have music on some Friday nights and a Prime Rib special. The pulled pork sandwich with fresh French fries and cole slaw is our personal favorite. It’s fun to bring the kids to watch the airplanes. The...service is very good too. You order at the counter and they bring you your food.More

The Pickled Pig at the small Bend airport serves breakfast and lunch and occasionally dinner on Friday and Saturday nights. Friday nights sometime include live music, popular local duos. They feature award-winning bbq, several different cuts of meat, by Chef Paul. One wall is covered...with ribbons from nation-wide contests. Generous portions. French fries made from real potatoes cut on site! Beer, wine, spirits. Generous portions, too.More

We decided to do breakfast air the airport before taking off to our next spot. It’s a get a number when you order at the counter and put your dishes in the bin kind of place. The food though was super. We shared the special...smoked salmon Benedict and a pancake. It was plenty of food and fresh and delicious!More

I arrived on February 2nd and was starving for a good lunch. I was about to head into town when the airport folks suggested the restaurant upstairs. I am so glad that they did. Great service and absolutely terrific food.

We had exhausted the spots in Bend and by chance found the Pickled Pig BBQ on Powell Butte Hwy...just a few minutes from town (we were staying at the Brasada Ranch resort which is just 10 minutes from the Pickled Pig). The food is excellent:...barbecued brisket, pork ribs, pulled pork, chicken breast, sausage, tri-tip, wonderful breakfast omelets, and side dishes. Prices are very reasonable. The Pickled Pig is very clean and welcoming. The atmosphere surprisingly comfortable and pleasant. Surprisingly because the Pickled Pig sits in the second story of a flying school located along side Bend Municipal Airport which turned out to be very quiet (practically no noise at all) and a TON OF FUN to watch the small private planes take-off an land...never done that before. Easy to get to and lots of parking. Recommended!!!More
