I gave the place three stars for the friendly and efficient staff and the ambiance and setting of the restaurant. However, the reason we visited this establishment, the food, was most unremarkable. We ordered Eggs Benedict. We received something with hard cooked eggs, razor thin...meat, and a touch of bland yellow sauce. Other than that, it's a pleasant place to visit.More

Wow, what a great location and tons of indoor and outdoor seating with a view of park and lake. Great breakfast/brunch/lunch menu. Service is good and lots of good Oregon microbrews and wine.

If you're visiting in west Portland suburbs, give Cafe Murrayhill a try. Very nice outdoor and indoor seating areas with views of a beautiful park/pond area. Great menu with many sandwiches/salads to choose from. Great for meeting friends, family, or business associates.

We came in at 4pm and noticed that no other customers were at the restaurant. The host brought us the menu and mentioned that our server would be over soon to take our order. Soon turned into about 10 minutes. We had laid our menus...aside within minutes of sitting down, we knew what we wanted to order. There was no doubt that we were ready for the server to take our order. A simple affogato, coffee and cake was what we wanted. Considering that this should have been ready to be served...we waited another 10 minutes for the coffee... no cake or affogato in sight. Our server then started to sweep the restaurant. I am sure a better time for this would have been when there were no customers present...such as just before 4pm. I mentioned to my friend that my coffee would be cold before the cake even makes it to our table. The server quickly came and said he would have somebody refill my cup. The cake and affogato arrived, but no coffee. The server now was sweeping directly next to our table. Surely, common sense would tell anybody not to clean right next to customers who are trying to enjoy their food. I had to wait several more minutes for my coffee. By the time the coffee mug was refilled, I was pretty much done with my cake. The affogato was served in a large soup plate. Never have I been served affogato on a plate. It should come in a dessert dish or a wide glass. The coffee was strong, bitter, and a mile from being hot. It tasted as if it had been sitting in the carafe for too long. There will not be another visit to this place.More

I had lunch with a friend here. I had the cob salad, my friend had the bacon omelette thing. Both were great. The service was awesome. The coffee was good. This was pandemic dining, so the tables were adequately spaced, we were outside, and I...never felt at risk of catching the ‘rhonna. Make a reservation as space is limited.More

We have eaten here 4-5 times, and have consistently had problems with the service. We kept going back, thinking our experience was just a one-off. We love the location of this restaurant, it had lovely patio dining that overlooks the pond. Food is acceptable, portions...sort of small but pretty tasty. The waiter we had today was SO slow (it took almost an hour for our food to be delivered), and we would have to ask him several times for things like water, butter, etc. He would disappear for 20 minutes+ at a time, while we waited patiently for the item that never came. Unfortunately the service was so frustrating, it made it a less-than-positive dining experience. We won’t be going back - figured we have given Cafe Murrayhill enough chances to redeem itself to improve service. Not sure if the issue is that management isn’t carefully overseeing operations? It’s too bad - this place has the potential to be great.More

We had a great Happy Hour here. We had scrumptious street tacos, Murrayhill salad and calamari. The Happy Hour red blend and IPA were great!! Heather provided great service. We also had a perfect French 75 to top it all off. We’ll be back!!

I go to this restaurant all the time and this was my first bad experience. I am a single woman and seated myself. First thing the waiter asked me is how many people would be joining me. Cool. No big deal. The big deal is...that I sat there forever as he waited on other people. He did not refill my water glass. Argued with me about not getting the sauce on the fish tacos and then gave me the wrong freaking desert that I got to go. Got home made coffee and reached for My tres leeches cheese cake. It was a plain boring cheese cake. 😢 50 dollars for a substandard meal service is not a good feeling.More

I love their outside seating by the lake. They also have the best tomato-citrus soup! I order it every time I go there.

Lousy service. Inconsistent food, sometimes good, sometimes not. Save your money. Better places to eat.

After our last experience decided to give third place another try. Same experience as last year. Our server was curt and acted like we were unwelcome. Ordered got tea and was brought a cup of hot water and a cup tea bags in it. I...made my selection and about 5 minutes later the server can and took he cup with the tea bags away. I guess you get one tea bag only at this restaurant. The food was good, but the friend who joined me said her cubed potatoes that came with her omelet had so much black pepper that she couldn't eat them. No compensation on that. Then our server brought the checks and about two minutes later he came back and said "Is this done?". Felt rushed and decided this was yet another mistake. Won't go back . Two bad experiences with unfriendly service is enough. Food was just okay and pricey. Really too bad as this used to be a really nice place to go with friends.More

Delicious dinner of halibut! Warm, gracious inviting staff. We tried to get into a fancy place for Christmas Eve but no reservations available but our neighborhood cafe welcomed us and set up an extra table. They even turned down the last guts for us. It...was a wonderful evening!More

I am sure they do not take reservations as when we visit family in Portland we have to go early to beat the crowd and get a table. Yes, they have many gluten free items and that is why we frequent this restaurant so much... More
