The Ice Cream was to die for, the lunch came out to under $20 and the food was amazing, I will come here again.

I was gone for hours with my truck n trailer left...there.mules too. Returned with my shoulder set in place In much better mood. Ate. And the food was excellent.thanks for everything Austin house.great service.More

We were greeted pretty rudely, but she got better as we went on, I guess. She was overwhelmed, but I'm pretty sure that was her own fault. She also was clearly not comfortable having people dining in at her restaurant yet, but if that's the...case just don't have dine-in yet. The food was mediocre at best. Acceptable, but not what you go out to eat for. Lots of signs outside that didn't seem so true inside. It's a small roadside stop that's trying to get by, but they could do better pretty easily.More

On our way to the Coast, we stopped at Austin House, the women running the place who I believe was the owner, was not welcoming when we entered. She did not greet us. We had to ask if we could order lunch. She said, "You'll...have to sit outside the dining room is closed"! She directed us to a small side yard that was fenced with 2 pick nic tables. No one else was out there. When she came out to get our order, she said, "You need to move to the other table in case a larger group shows up"! We moved to the other table as we were instructed. There was a resident, very persistent, black cat that would not stay off of our laps while we were sitting at the table waiting for our food. (We are not cat people). When our food came, my salad had black cat hair in it! When she delivered our food she said, "when you're done, clear your dishes, throw the garbage away in the can and put your dishes on the deck!" (I guess closer for her to get them and take them back to the kitchen). Her rudeness was incredible! It always make me wonder when I encounter people like this, what has happened in their life to cause them to act this way.More

We had the opportunity to call in early for breakfast last weekend, so it was ready when we arrived. The ultimate omelette is my husband's favorite, and I have the veggie omelette with a side of bacon. My omelet has cheese crumbles on in, like...feta cheese. Both omelettes had some fresh steamed seasonal asparagus on the side, as a surprise. Everything was so yummy, and consistently tasty every time we come up. They only serve breakfast until 11AM, so I called in earlier. Great way to start the weekend! Highly recommended.More

Unless the owners are new, I'd pass this one up. We stopped in last year and the restrooms were disgusting! Food was served warm and was mediocre at best. The store was dusty and service was awful. Pass pass pass..

Jeff & Christy certainly can prepare a wonderful prime rib dinner! My husband and I could not have asked for more. We've stopped in for burgers, salads, soups (especially their clam chowder: Yum!) over the years and have always enjoyed their meals. Even gluten free...items. Highly recommended!More

This is a hidden gem on the highway, and is a destination restaurant serving prime rib, lobster, and other fantastic dishes on special occasions but for everyday fare their burgers are amazing! The menu is extensive most of the time, though it can be truncated...when they are super busy. The portions are large, and gluten free options are available (burgers, non-burgers, dessert). My favorite is the Blue Mountain Burger with Gluten Free bun & Sweet Potato Fries. When I have room for dessert I go for the Flour-less Chocolate Torte. The staff is friendly, professional, and the atmosphere is a combination of charmingly rustic, while being conveniently modern. This restaurant and gift shop is operated by 2 people, which is an amazing feat! So if it's a little busy cut them some slack - and if it's not super busy you can chat them up and enjoy their wealth of knowledge about the area and what it offers for travelers. There are gift items branded with the establishment logo, as well as items which are crafted by local artisans and authors. There are also a selection of convenience store items, drinks in the cooler, camping and personal hygiene sundries. There are restrooms in parks along the highways btw...seems like that is a sore spot for some that pull in just to use the facility without buying something. The huckleberry ice cream is seriously amazing though so just treat your family and there's no issue, right? What do you think pays for the water, soap, and toilet paper you use in the bathroom? Just buy the ice cream.... ;)More

Only sign of civilization for miles in both directions. It’s a nice spot to stop and stretch or use the bathroom. Be prepared to buy something though if you need to stop for just the bathroom. We have spent hundreds of dollars in snacks, drinks,...food and Bigfoot memorabilia over the years. Stopped this time as we have a few other times without buying something as we ate lunch before we left and the very grouchy woman behind the counter rudely instructed my husband that their restrooms are for customers only. We informed her two weeks earlier we had spent about $100. with them, she snottily replied well I don’t remember that. So we bought a magnet and left. We will never stop again. It was always fun to stop for snacks there but we will bring them from home now. They’ve lost our business. Too bad since we were frequent shoppers throughout the years.More

Maybe 2pm on a Saturday is a bad time to stop in but the cashier at the store needs a lesson in customer appreciation. When I asked her if they took credit cards, she asked what would I do if they didn't? Not joking, just...seemed snarky. She told my son to close the door on his way out. I'm really glad I was already outside when that went down or I'd still be waiting for bail money at the county pokey.More

Wow, just conversation I was making. And for the door it gets left open many times a day and we ask many people to close the door when it's left open. Keeps the bugs out as we are in the mountains. Have a great day

Place is for sale and maybe current operators are burnt out but not real friendly. Food is good, lower marks for service and demeanor. Good burgers, good Huckleberry shakes. Not a place to go to but great place to stop if its on your way.
