Great lunch

We made a quick visit to Bandon, OR. We were hungry when we arrived and after parking asked some folks where we should eat. They were locals and said to go to the Bait Shop for the best Chowder and Fish and Chips. Both were excellent!

This is the kind of place you look for if you travel frequently and eschew chain restaurants. It should've been a wonderful hole in the wall, frequented by knowledgeable locals, and overlooked by clueless tourists. In addition to an extensive collection of lures, hooks, and, presumably, live bait, Bandon Bait and Tackle has a counter staffed by friendly folks and... More

We were excited to eat at a fish market restaurant on the riverfront after all they said they had the best fresh seafood meals. Had fish and chips which were just ok. A generous non greasy portion, but lacking in any real flavor at all. Had to argue over getting extra sauces. The chowder was less than par. Gritty and... More

Had the prawns. They were mediocre. I was disappointed because I thought being by the shore there would be great seafood. I wish we went somewhere else.

Crowded, lots of locals eating lunch there. We had a delicious fresh seafood basket lunch here, right on the water. Staff was very nice, service quick. You order, then go to an outside table and they bring the food to you. Highly recommend! Their competitor down the sidewalk had 25 minute+ wait times while here we had our delightful lunch... More

Do not overlook this place! It looks like a bait shop but the food is exceptional. We had the rock cod fish and chips and it was every bit as good as halibut but at about half the price. The fish was fresh, had mild white meat, was cooked perfectly; the breading was delicate and non greasy; and the fries... More

When we travel the West coast, we want good coffee. We stopped here for some decaf lattes. Nope, so we went to another place. It wasn't their fault.

This is in the main drag and just so tasty. The fish in the fish and chips was so fresh and tender. Also the sauces were very tasty

With the possible exception of once in Alaska, this is the best halibut and chips I've ever eaten. The breading was thin, delicate and subtly but nicely seasoned. The fish itself was perfectly cooked; tender, moist and flaky but still firm. The fries were hot and fresh with a nice crunchy outside. This was definitely worth the premium price for... More

We live here and we've eaten fish 'n chips at both places on the board walk. This places has, BY FAR, the best fish 'n chips! It's beyond me why anyone goes to the place at the other end of the board walk. Bandon Bait and Tackle's food is just so much better. It's less greasy and has a much... More
