While staying in Monkey Island OK we drove over to Vinita to eat at the famous Clanton's restaurant, known for their chicken fried steak meals. Very friendly staff and helpful with the history of this restaurant that has been around since 1927. Also, right on Route 66...

Clanton's was a scheduled stop on our 5,000 mile road trip since I had heard of their "famous" country fried steak and being a bit of an expert on country fried steak, we knew we had to go. Clanton's is in a small downtown area (is there an uptown??) and reminds me of where Andy Griffith might walk into at... More

The waitress was amazing.. All but 1 of us ordered the chicken fried steak. Especially since Guy said so.. But we were quite skeptical since we are Texans.. We got our food and it was one of the best I have tasted.. Now portion size is not what we are used to cause everything in Texas is bigger.. But it... More

My husband and I recently took the short drive to Vinita to try our Clanton's because we'd heard of it from friends and it was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives on Food Network. We arrived around 12:30 on a Saturday afternoon and were seated immediately. During the time we were there the tables were constantly being turned over and... More

On our way home from a 4 day vacation in Branson with our 8 yr old granddaughter, we stopped here about 2:00 pm. Granddaughter was being VERY picky. The lady who served us went above and more to find something that she would eat, brought out several things for her that we didn't even know they had, and even made... More

For those who want great, Oklahoma home-cooked flair, Clanton's offers it. Know for its chicken-fried steak, it won't disappoint. They make their own salad dressings so they are fresh and tasty. The atmosphere is lively and very much down home feeling. While we're were there, a couple from Germany were driving Route 66 and stopped. They were served the hand-breaded... More

This is a great homestyle restaurant with wonderful food and good old-fashioned customer service. Well worth exiting off I-44!

This was a great place to stop on a long journey. I found the chicken fried steak to be delicious, and there were suitable choices for the vegetarians in our group.

Excellent home cooking! I loved the chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes & gravy with green beans & baked squash. My son loved the catfish. Hubby liked the pot roast. We even tried & liked the calf fries!
