Typical self-serve Mexican restaurant without reliable chips/salsa appetizer (if you are looking for that, find one of the chains) although they sometimes bring some to you if there is a delay in getting your order prepared. They have a good number of specials. They may...have the best enchiladas in town, with the tortillas soaked in a delightful red sauce. Tortas, huaraches (an elongated sope, to me), and street-type tacos are all good. The pollo guisado (spicy chicken) is a unique option, and like-minded eaters can get a host of traditional meats including cabeza and tripe. Their carnitas are probably the best, and most reliably yummy, meat. They do an intriguing take on nachos - tasty without using ladles of cheese sauce on top. An off-menu option, available occasionally, is rajas y queso - grilled peppers + onions and cheese. It is particularly wonderful if they have homemade tortillas (rarity, unfortunately). A nice vegetarian option (or Lent option) as is the chili rellenos. I stop in the warmer months after I play softball at the nearby complex. They are friendly and portions are generous enough to fill me up. Drawbacks: everything is cooked on a single grill. I have a sensitivity to beef products and if the grill isn't scraped thoroughly, or there is carne asada cooking at the same time my meal is being cooked, I often have some discomfort a few hours after I eat. To be fair - I have never asked about it, so that is not a negative, just a feature. They only use styofoam cups and plates; I prefer to not be so environmentally shoddy. And, they routinely are out of Dr. Pepper, my go-to soft drink since they do not make brewed ice tea (they have "iced tea" but it is some bastardization of the tea served in a sit-down restaurant).More
