Was with my brother, who's been here, and he is a frequent guest. I thought it was AMAZING! We split a pork dumpling with spicy sauce, and it was GREAT! He ordered Pork with leeks (he let me have a taste, and it was good)...and I had Szechuan spicy chicken with peppercorn. We both had fried rice. My chicken dish was amazing. You could tell the chicken is prepared on site, and hand breaded. The taste was amazing, and the peppers added a nice kick! I don't live in Tulsa, because if I did, I'd probably be here a half dozen times a week! Service was very good! Our server checked on us several times. Our sodas and water were never empty. We did not have room for desert, but they looked wonderful. HIGH recommendation!More

This was our first and only visit to Mandarin Taste. We were less than impressed with the service and food. Thankfully there are a lot of Chinese restaurants in Tulsa. Maybe it was just a bad day for them, but the restaurant only had four...tables occupied yet we had to wait 10 minutes to get a server, then another 20 to get our bill when we were done. The food didn't come out looking anything like the photo (we had the KungPao Chicken, which had no spice whatsoever) and it was coated in a thick brown sauce and lots of oil (see the photo). If you want fried rice it'll cost you $2 more than white. The only difference is a little soy sauce added to the wok where white rice is fried for a few minutes. All the prices were a couple dollars too high compared to other area Chinese places, and the portions were much smaller. The family-style soup was the best value and was pretty good, although lacking in ingredients. The nicest part of the restaurant was the restaurant itself. It was clean and nicely furnished. There is a small bakery inside that looked good, but I can't say for sure since I didn't order anything due to price. $5 for a cream puff - I don't think so.More

Our granddaughter took us here for lunch. I got the House Special Lomain and my wife opted for the Crispy Duck. I was quite surprised that the Lomain was the best I have tasted with a really good flavor. I tasted the Crispy Duck since...I have not found any good Crispy Duck since I was in Germany at Madam Fongs. The duck was excellent; not stringy or greasy. I plan to go back soon and get the Crispy Duck. It is a dish I have missed for years. They also have some very good cream puffs filled with either whipped cream or chocolate filling. If you are in the area, stop by and give it a try. The owners are very friendly and provide good service.More

I had such high hopes after reading the reviews, especially since authentic chinese food in Tulsa is hard to find. Unfortunately it was the worst chinese meal I have had in Tulsa or almost anywhere. I started off with the "pork dumplings in spicy sauce"....Happily the flavor was both authentic and tasty. Sadly it was so oily that it became overwhelming the more you ate.The fried rice looked well but oddly had the same exact flavor as the Mongolian beef. The beef was NOT authentic and had a very unappealing flavor. I ordered it "very spicy" and it had no spice at all. The almost rancid flavor was bad but the quality of the beef was in another world. Every piece was either a mouthful of fat or was a bite of stringy soft gristel. I ended up spitting most of it out. On the positive note my son had the Kung pao chicken that was both authentic and properly spiced. The only issue was there were a few pieces of chicken that were both unidentifiable and unappetizing. First chinese restaurant I have been in (north, south, west, and Tulsa) that refused to just use white meat chicken for an upcharge. Too bad it probably would have made the dish very good. If you discount the poor tasting rice and Mongolian beef which are not Sezchuan the other flavors were pretty authentic. However the meat quality was terrible and at $ 13 per dish they should be ashamed to serve it. The only dish that looked inviting was the Hot pot where you can see the raw ingredients before it is cooked. They need to upgrade their meat quality and only serve dishes they know how to make correctly.More

Mandarin Taste is the only authentic chinese restaurant in Tulsa. The proof is in the hot pot!! It is always packed on the weekends with exchange students. I would recommend allowing 2 hours and go with a big group the get the full hot pot...experience. Save room for dessert or get the egg custard desserts to go. If you’re not sure if you’ll like hot pot, the green beans and Mongolian beef is a safe choice to order on the side.More

A friend told me that he and his wife had just found the best Chinese Restaurant in Tulsa. That definitely sparked my interest, so my wife and I tried Mandarin Taste for dinner tonight. By gosh, my friend was right! My wife and I also...believe that Mandarin Taste is the best Chinese Restaurant in Tulsa. Mandarin Taste is in a small and "kinda" hidden strip center at 61st and South Sheridan (Southeast corner), but is definitely worth finding. The restaurant is sparse in layout, but quite comfortable, clean, and has interesting and fun artwork displayed throughout the entire restaurant. Our waitress was exceptional, friendly, and very knowledgeable...plus educated and guided us through the Mandarin Taste "experience!" The menu and options are quite large in scope. There are the "typical" Chinese offerings, but one of the great differences, is outside the box options. So, my wife and I decided to give the experience a chance. We ordered the fried cheese wontons, a unique twist on egg drop soup..."tomato egg drop soup," Mongolian beef, steamed white rice, and a beef noodle "soup" that most resembled Pho in look and taste. The beef in the soup came in such large chunks that it needed to be cut with a knife in order to be bite sized. It was exceptional! The Mongolian beef serving was huge...and also quite delicious. With the serving size, and my wife and I sharing it...we still brought a portion home! The tomato egg drop soup was exactly what the name implies...egg drop soup with chopped tomato blended in the soup. One interesting side note...every dish is individually and freshly prepared. What that means is that whenever dish is completed, it is served. So, the Mongolian beef came out first, with the tomato egg drop soup a couple of minutes later, followed by the beef noodle soup, and last but not least, our appetizer of fried cheese wontons! I know we get used to eating in a particular order...but...honestly I did not mind the "Mandarin Taste" order of foods, and just thoroughly enjoyed the "Experience!" They have beautiful and numerous desserts, but we ere so stuffed by this point...that all we could do was pack the leftovers and head for home. And, that is ok...because we will be back...and often! Mandarin Taste made it to the Top of our Best Chinese in Tulsa. Heck, we might even start our next dinner at the Mandarin Taste with dessert!More

Adequate parking. Restaurant is very clean. Room for wheelchair access to tables. Did not see any booths-all tables but plenty of room. Service is good and friendly. Everything is made to order so not everyone's main course was served at the same time. Some dishes,...like the fried rice that was part of my main dish came a pretty good time after the main dish was served. The fried rice was pretty basic with egg but no veggies and was pretty bland. There are no salt/pepper or hot seasonings on the table. Utensils were a spoon and fork but no knife. Some pieces of veggies and meat are too big to eat in one bite without cutting so a knife would be nice. I rate very good for the friendliness of the servers, the cleanliness of the restaurant and the portion sizes of the main courses. This is not a place to go if you have a limited budget. If you want "authentic", it's the place to go but if you prefer somewhere like the Panda Express, this is not the place to go. I did not use their restroom so I cannot make any comments on this. Orders are taken at the table and the ticket is paid at the table. They do not have a kiosk to pay at the table...you give your cash or credit card to the server and it is brought back to you with your receipt and change. There is a display case with desserts which looked pretty tasty.More

I was born and raised in south east asia, so I'm always on the lookout for "the real deal" when it comes to Chines food. This is it! I highly recommend wandering off the standard American Chinese menu fare and trying dipping your culinary toes...in some of the more authentic Chinese menu items. They are spot on! One caveat, if you're in a hurry and just want something to grab and go, this is not your destination. Food is prepared fresh and in an authentic manner some items will take a while.More

I've read the positive reviews here, so decided to give it a go to see if it lives up to the recommendations. In short, it does! I had 3 pork dumplings and then kung pao chicken. The dumplings were enormous (really need to share them)...but very tasty. My entree was delicious. Satisfying kick to it, but very complex flavors. My mouth is watering just thinking about it again. Service was, perhaps, a bit slow, but it did not detract from my experience one bit. She was sweet and friendly and I enjoyed a nice, leisurely lunch. Definitely a place to which I will return, and to which I will be directing friends for some good, authentic Chinese cuisine.More

My brother and I visited for lunch. I had the Crispy Duck and he had Mongolian Beef. The duck was delicious, as well as his beef. We also tried the dumplings and they were excellent. I asked if the server recommended a sauce for the...duck and she said they typically don’t serve one, but she asked the chef to make something. The “special” was very tasty with the dumplings as well. I can’t wait to go back and try the hot pot. The inside of the restaurant was very clean and well put together.More
