My husband took me here for our five year anniversary and outside of him and the very kind Assistant Manager, Amy, is was a bust. I would say of all of the ones we’ve been to, this was the worst service we’ve ever had, I...would actually give our service a 1. My husband bought the most expensive package they had, ordered flowers, and made reservations in advance. We are celebrating our anniversary and staying elsewhere and to top it off, we drove an hour and a half one way to get there. First, our waiter seemed very distant in our conversation with him, like he was going thru the motions, but not really hearing us. We could live with that, but when I started noticing the waitress serving the table next to us was at our neighbor’s table three times to maybe our one, I was becoming very disappointed with our service. When we did receive our salads, mine was the house salad, I was so unimpressed with it that I wanted to send it back. I told my husband this looked like a salad you might get at Bonanza and he said Bonanza’s looked better. Actually, it looked like old wilted iceberg lettuce with a little bit of sides. When we didn’t see our waiter, we asked one of the waiters at another table if he could send our waiter to us, he never came. Then, a little later, my husband stopped another waitress and asked if he could send our waiter to us and explained about the salad. I proceeded to tell the waitress that I just said something to my husband about leaving the restaurant and this is when the Assistant Manager became involved. She, Amy, was very nice. When she came to the table we explained to her what was going on. I pointed to my husband’s almost empty tea glass which he has sitting to the edge of the table and my water. She was very apologetic and was actually getting a visual of our service. She was very kind and apologetic and helped make our dinner tolerable. She asked us what we wanted and my husband said tea and I asked if I could have some ice for my water. She then brought us our drinks and then the waiter finally showed up with another one. Instead of taking it back, he said “Here, I’ll just leave this one and left a second glass of tea on the table, this may have been fine except if you don’t drink your first glass fast, the ice melts in the second glass and the drink starts becoming diluted. Then when he brought our main course, he did not describe how the different cooking times for the meat worked or that we could have asked for substitutes, ie., more mushrooms , less broccoli, but we learned that from listening to the waitress working with the table next to us. Then when we were finished with our main course, we just sat there with a bulk of dirty dishes on a very small table until our waiter eventually came back over there. The Assistant Manager checked on us again, but she was so sweet I didn’t have the heart to tell her again that our service was still not good. At last, we were on our last course, the dessert portion, and we were looking forward to it. Because we heard the waitress next to us tell the people she was serving that they could substitute on their entrees, we asked for some specific things on our dessert tray and said we DID NOT want any strawberries, pineapple, or waffles. Well ... guess what ... when he
put the dessert tray down in front of us, and he did it quickly, he said “It’s crazy in there” and I’ll just have to bring the special items that you ordered back. Well ..... not only did we get strawberries, pineapple, and waffles on our dessert tray, but it seemed we had more of them then what we asked for. BUT unfortunately, we had to sit there and WAIT AGAIN for him to bring the dessert items we requested and when he got to us, they were on a very SMALL PLATE and I was SHOCKED at the service once again.
The Assistant Manager did take some off of our bill and I am thankful for that, BUT I am so upset about the service that I am writing this to share about it.
This was supposed to be our five year anniversary dinner and I am so appalled about our service and some of the food, that I don’t think I ever want to go back to a Melting Pot again.More
