Beautiful weather so we chose seating out on their patio. Atmosphere was friendly and our server was very helpful. We took friends here after a day trip to southern Ohio and did not feel like cooking. Two of us ordered the perch sandwich, one ordered bacon cheeseburger, and one enjoyed the turkeyburger. Everyone enjoyed the prompt service and delicious meal.... More

I have eaten inside in the first class restaurant several times and it has been great. But last weekend we sat outside on the patio. I was a little disappointed at the surroundings and the décor and the wait staff. They all seemed to be a bit shabby. I think the patio and bar could do with a good cleaning,... More

We've been to the Tavern many times but finally visited the restaurant. We when arrived we thought they weren't open yet as there was no body around for a couple minutes. Once we were greeted we were treated fabulously. The staff was very attentive and seemed to take pride in there work. We ordered the NY Strip and Sirloin with... More

We have been big fans of the restaurant and tavern for a long time. We took family to the restaurant downstairs a few weeks back for the Delmonico steak. Unfortunately the steak quality was not near as good as our many previous visits. Less flavor and a tougher steak. Service was lackluster and our server was very inattentive. They had... More

The restaurant downstairs is nice with excellent food and friendly service, I would recommend it to anyone.. It's higher priced that the tavern part of the restaurant, but it's worth it! The tavern/restaurant has pretty decent food, better than your typical "bar food" but not over the top. It's a unique experience. Although there is a bar inside I've never... More

The tavern area is a laid back bar style restaurant...extensive menu featuring the standard burgers, fries, sandwiches etc. Full bar with really good martinis. The patio is excellent in the summer.

Not gonna lie, I have not been a huge fan of this place in the past. I do love the patio, but the pub food has been average at best...until now. We had burgers and the quality was much better than ever before. The meat was delicious and the bun fresh. As good or better than that other steakhouse down... More

I got the soup and sandwich, Turkey sandwich was good, beer cheese soup was lacking. Sweet tea was alright. Others at table also felt that it was a good meal, but nothing special. First time at place, so can't really judge it to harshly by one visit.

We ate in the tavern area restaurant as I think it is more affordable to eat there. The food serving was generous and tasted good. The room was on the loud side- even for a crowded restaurant.

The Olde Jaol facility was built in 1865, and was claimed to be the finest sheriff facility of its kind. In 1977 the Wayne county sheriffs department was relocated across the street to a new facility. Subsequently, the old jail was registered as a historical landmark in 1980 and in 1995 The Olde Jaol Steakhouse / Tavern was given life. We have an excellent reputation for quality and service.Today, the Olde Jaol houses the finest in food and hospitality. We recommend our Certified Angus Beef® steak entrées. Only 8 percent of beef is tasty enough to meet the brand’s high standards. It’s simply the tastiest, juiciest, most tender beef you’ll ever have.
