The staff here are so friendly! We are not from this area and just heard about it so we stopped in for a piece of candy. So glad we did. We highly recommend!

I was lucky enough to work in a family-owned candy shop over 100 years old (Wilmington, DE) and similar to Marie’s. I know when care is given to the candy. Upon entering Marie’s, you are drawn into the beauty of the store. The more you...look, the more products you see, even though the store is not large. Care is given to decorate in the shop, making the chocolates look presentable and inviting in their packaging, and making sure the homemade pieces as well as the truffles are beautifully cupped. I have been to popular candy stores at beaches near me where the more expensive chocolates are simply stacked on each other, only to scratch and look shoddy. Very sad. Marie’s also offers traditional popular candies such as Swedish fish or licorice. Some candies are packaged in mugs, bpresented as part of a pencil/pen gift set, etc. I also noticed that seconds were available which shows me that they do not like to waste. There was nothing wrong with the seconds except small blemishes. What I liked best was that I could see through the bags so that I knew what I was getting. I was able to identify most of the pieces because they had similar markings to those I had learned. The employees were lovely and very helpful, and the candy is made on the premises. The one thing that I don’t like about Maria’s is that I CAN’T taste the flavor of chocolate in the milk chocolate. Others who live near me agree to the point where we think it could be a regional preference. The texture is just right and they are sweet enough, but I am experiencing texture and no chocolate flavor. I have had Marie’s many times through gifts: one pound boxes, turtles, chocolate covered potato chips, bacon, etc. and it’s the same idea of not having the chocolate speak through the confection. I don’t really understand why this is. I’m wondering if Ohio prefers sweet whereas the mid-Atlantic area leans heavier on the chocolate. On my first trip to the store I was able to choose some dark chocolate to sample it. It was one of the better dark chocolates. The only dark variety I eat is the one from our 100 year old store in my native town, but I found Marie’s to be comparable. I’m not a dark chocolate lover, but this is different. When it is homemade, you can’t compare it to the finer over the shelf brands. They just don’t stand up to the homemade stuff!More
Hi Cathy! Thank you for your kind words about our displays and the care we take with our chocolates! Your comments about chocolate flavor are very interesting. You're right, there are many different types of chocolate and sometimes one type is more popular by region....More
I found Marie's Candies by accident, on my way up north. I captured many historical markers on my way, but stopped for a sweet treat. The interior is decorated for the upcoming spooky holiday. Very quaint indeed. The staff were quite friendly. I must say...the dark chocolate amorretto pecans are to die for. I highly recommend this place!More
went In to get some Valentines day gift.. They went out of their way to accommodate my needs. I was buying for multiple people and they had a gift in every price range..
It was our first stop in, we were meet with very kind service. We got to try a couple chocolates and put a pin in for the area we were from.
Grew up loving these homemade chocolates. It is the best candy I’ve ever had, and I have tasted some very good candy from all over the United States, and from Canada. It’s the quality of the ingredients, and that everything is still made by hand,...that makes it so delicious!More
Thank you! Glad to hear!!

Great local chocolate shop. Good variety of boxed chocolates and candies. Definitely worth a stop. Make sure to try the Tur-kins (turtles).
Thank you for the nice review! Tur'kins are a very popular piece! Hope you can stop in again, soon!
Just stepping inside is a treat - the scent & the sights. Marie's makes some of the finest chocolate I've ever eaten. It is so difficult to pick out which pieces I want - I always want some of everything! The chocolate is high quality...with no parafin, so bring along a cooler if the weather is warm. So good!More
Thank you for your nice review and kind works! Hope you can stop in again sometime soon!

We visit in route to Ski Mad River Mountain, and my wife requests Dark Chocolate Tur´Kins. Marie’s delights in seasonal decorations, and the Valentine display is very pleasant. Marie’s chocolates reminds us of our experiences in Brussels, Belgium. Great chocolates and a great staff –...we recommend.More
Thank you for your wonderful compliments. We are so glad you had a pleasant visit, and hope you stop by again on your way to the Mountain!
Love this place! Hand-made chocolates...can even take a tour and watch them being made. So many favorites...but milk chocolate covered potato chips are the best.
I visit to stock up on every trip home, and hoard these chocolates until my next. My family & friends know that Marie's are my favorite indulgence and gift. None others compare. The variety is amazing. The store is a delight to visit.
Maries has a nice variety of chocolates and just like stores in Belguim, you can sample before you buy :) it is a little more expensive than other chocolate stores I have visited but the chocolate is very good and they have a nice variety.
Wonderful candies to buy and free samples..choclate covered potato chips are the bestest...buy them for certain
