Thanks, Steve B! We hope to see you again this season. We'll open in May so stay tuned for more info.
1572 had come highly-recommended by some BBQ-loving friends, so we were eager to try it. I had smoked wings (amazing!!!!) and hot link (mildy-spicy sausage link) with sides of green beans and sweet potato casserole (a special side dish - not always on the menu)....Everything was delicious! The green beans could have used quite a bit less salt, but they were tasty. I had a hard time choosing 2 sides, because there were so many good side dishes to choose from. My husband enjoyed the "Pig in a Blanket," which was pulled pork in a tortilla wrap with all kinds of goodies inside. He enjoyed mac 'n cheese and green beans as his sides. Our friends thoroughly enjoyed their ribs, pulled pork, & smoked wings. There was a bar with a FANTASTIC variety of craft brews on-tap at a reasonable price per pint. Food prices are also reasonable. The seating is entirely outside, but at least half of it is covered. And, the setting of being in the Renaissance Festival Grounds makes it very picturesque! I can't wait to return. This is a hidden BBQ gem of Warren County!More
Thank you for giving us a try! We appreciate your great review and hope that you'll come back real soon to see what special side is on the menu. We love being discovered as a hidden BBQ gem in Warren County!
At the same site of the annual Renaissance festival, this is a bare bones barbecue bar and grill. Open bar, live music and picnic table ambiance coupled with great ribs, brisket and other barbecue favorites make this out of the way eatery a true find....Reasonable, fun and delicious!More
We're so glad you gave us a try! Thanks for the great review and we hope to see you again soon.
It was just like being in the low country. Perfect amount of spice.I will definitely be back for the BBQ.
Thanks for the great review of our seafood boil last year. Stay tuned to find out when we'll be doing another one this summer. Glad to hear you'll be coming back for the BBQ, too.
We visited 1572 Roadhouse BB, because I had purchased a gift certificate as a half priced deal. We visited on the day the certificate was due to expire, which was during the Ren Fest. First of all, the directions on the certificate, and on the...website, are basically useless. We had no idea how to get into the restaurant, and even having been there, still have no idea. We entered the driveway next to the restaurant sign, but could find no entrance to the facility. It is enclosed by a tall privacy fence. We saw lettering stating 1572, but the gates were locked. We wandered around, lost and frustrated, until someone finally came out of the gate, and we slipped in. We realized we were now inside the Ren Fest, without paying for a ticket. Even at that point we continued to wander around looking for the restaurant. We finally asked one of the costumed performers (!) and were directed way around the corner. The restaurant front was built as one of the Ren Fest facades, and was not like a real restaurant at all. Having researched the menu online, I knew I wanted the BBQ chicken and green beans. Alas, the menu on the website was nothing like what was really offered. There were only two choices of entrees, pulled pork or sausage, and three sides, mac and cheese, baked beans, and coleslaw. Only bottled water ($3) was available to drink. We were both unhappy, but being the last day to use our certificate, we ordered what was available. To say it was chaos would be understating the order and check out process. No one had a clue what they were doing. It took a solid 10 minutes for them to figure out how to ring in our order and use the certificate, and then they undercharged us. Flies are landing on our food as we are waiting. As far as the food, the pork was cold and flavorless, and the sauces, served room temperature in bottles on the tables, were thin and watery with zero flavor. The baked beans tasted like they were plain navy beans cooked in Coke or Pepsi. Watery and with a super sugary taste. Three bites and I had had enough of that. The mac and cheese, when we first saw it on the buffet, looked like mashed potatoes. It was so overcooked, the noodles no longer held their shape. It was a mushy, congealed mess, and again had no seasoning or taste. This food was so bad, I can't even express it. The Ren Fest entertainment was provided as we ate, which included a woman singing a song that made fun of people with disabilities. I know it's supposed to be in good fun, with the theme of the festival, but I didn't realize I'd be dining with insults, people with elf ears, bearded ladies, and lots and lots of bare flesh. To each his own, I just wasn't expecting that. Food and service was just horrible. Maybe when the Ren Fest isn't going, it might be better, with the menu advertised on the website, and if you can figure out how to get into the place, but I don't ever need to come back to find out.More
We want to apologize for your bad experience in giving us a try. It is a different atmosphere, menu, and much less chaos if you visit during non Ohio Renaissance Festival operational days. The certificates for the half off offer were very confusing and not...More
I've heard a lot of good things about 1572 Roadhouse Bar-B-Q but never heard that you had to pay the Renaissance Festival parking & entrance fee. This would add $15.00 - $20.00 per person to the meal. My daughter & I made the 30 minute...drive this afternoon to find this out. It was raining and paying the additional $34.00 would not have been worth the money, no matter how good the food is supposed to be. Very disappointed that we didn't have a chance to taste the food.More
Thanks for giving us a try and we apologize for the confusion during operation of the Ohio Renaissance Festival. We will try to do a better job of clearly posting hours that we are open independently of the Ohio Renaissance Festival or other events happening...More
We have been here several times and have always been satisfied. We go there when we want a quick bite to eat like a hamburger. The food is good and the service is fine. You can sit in the bar area but I prefer the...dining booths.More
Thanks for the great review! We hope to see you soon.
Went out with some friends had a really good dinner and good atmosphere. Pretty neat little place good folks will go back again .
Thanks for the great review! Hope to see you again soon.
1572 Barbeque is a very cool place to go hang out. They have blues playing and many good options for biers. The biers are a bit pricey, usually running around $7 for a craft pint. I'd read reviews saying how pricey their barbeque was, I...really didn't find the pricing to be too bad ($12-15 for a combo meal). There may be better values around but combined with the cool atmosphere of the Renaissance grounds, it's hard to beat, especially when we are having nice weather. If you're going to be down near Ceasar's Creek, stop by and check out 1572. They are only open Thurs-Sun, until the end of the month. Once the Renaissance Fest opens in Sept. they'll only be open on Thurs & Fri. Keep in mind that Thurs night is bike night, with live blues & plenty of cool bikes. CheersMore
Everyone should experience the laid back atmosphere and the great food and drink! Check them out and enjoy yourself!
Went over weekend where they were having a BBQ and craft beer fest. Only a couple of vendors so chose 1572 because they had the largest assortment of sides. Food was ok, a little small on the portion size for the price you pay. Tri...tip got 4 slices. Work on the fly traps, understood it is outside but there is a limit. Sauces were not as good as billed. Good selection of craft beers and even had moonshine on tap. Bit out of the way for the Dayton or Cincy crowd to travel that far for average. Might have some potential though, keep working at it.More
We are heading back from Cleveland and needed a place to stop to eat on the way back home. We didn't know that this BBQ joint was open during the off-season at the Renaissance Festival Grounds. We got the Meat Platter to share and 3...sides. We liked the Hot and their award winning sauce for meat and but others may like the other 2 choices. Meat selections were Pull Pork, Sausage, Chicken and Brisket. All 4 were well cooked and seasoned well. We saw others that had the ribs and they were falling off the bone and looked very good also. Sides were pretty good also with the green beans the best of the backed and mashed potatoes (they called it Casserole). They have Beer on tap with some mixed drinks. For a place that is kind of off the grid it was well worth the visit and would visit again. Our GPS brought us in the back way to the location but best way is to come in Main Entrance.More
We ate at 1572 Roadhouse Bar-B-Q with another couple for a weekend dinner during the recent Celtic Fest. We were all impressed with the food. You order at the counter, and it is self seating. The tables are communal, with bench seats. There is open...air seating as well as covered outdoor seating. Music is playing in the background, and there's a small stage for live music. I selected the pulled pork platter with tater casserole and cole slaw. The cole slaw had a different twist with peppers. It was extremely fresh. The pork was moist, and the sandwich had an ample amount of meat. There are four sauces: Memphis, Roadhouse Blues, Roadhouse Hot, and Old Yeller. The Roadhouse Blues is smoky. The Roadhouse hot is not terribly spicy. The only offering I thought was average was the potato side dish. It was served hot, but there was not a lot of seasoning, and it tasted bland. Tip: The restrooms have working plumbing and are extremely clean. I would eat here again and make the drive even if there is no festival. Signage with hours and whether the Roadhouse is open is posted at the street entrance.More
The atmosphere is great,it was a little confusing on our first visit, but we're explained where to go for the food..as you walk in there's a bar, looks fun..all the outdoorsy stuff, picnic tables to eat at!
Nice, casual atmosphere. We stopped in on a Thursday night which is "bike night" I was a little worried it would be a loud and rowdy crowd - I know...pre-conceived notions. I owned and rode a bike so its not like I'm totally clueless. Anyway,...it was nice! Families dining, some bikers, some couples. A good mix of people. It's all outdoor patio-style dining under a large beautiful brand new pavilion. The food is served cafeteria style and its delicious. I had the ribs and they were the best I've ever had. There's a bar where you can buy cold beers. I liked it and will go back. I hope they stay open and will be back in 2017.More
