Loved this place. Friendly people and great food. Like all businesses they are under staffed and where so proud to see the head lady's young niece and nephew helping out. We need more kids like that!! I had Margherita flatbread and my wife stuffed portabella...mushrooms. Wine and beer wrapped it up. I do not think price was high for quality of food and service. Super friendly and efficient staff, nice décor, but the food... Nice presentation but no taste... The mushrooms, as an appetizer, were really tasteless... no flavour at all. The meat of blackened steak salad was bland (but cooked to perfection) and the dressing ordered was missing....I travel a lot for work & this restaurant was disappointing.More

This is a lovely restaurant. The food is extremely overpriced for the quality. Quality of food was actually below average. We were seated immediately, ordered drinks and an appetizer. We were given a printed menu that had a list of the nightly specials, so we ordered the special. Our server came back, and said the kitchen was out of the special. If you've taken the...time to print the specials on a menu, how are you out so early in the service? How do you not prepare enough of the special to get you through the evening? Very disappointing to have to go back into the menu and find something else, when it's not what you want. My second choice, a steak, was ordered Med., but it came out cooked Med. Well to Well Done with little to no pink. I was overcharged for the premium side, but by that time, I decided it was pointless to discuss it. The server didn't offer to wipe up the table when my date's drink was spilled on the table and the menu. My date had to ask for our eating utensils and napkins. So, no special, overdone steak, overcharged for the side, and all the rest. Why would we ever recommend this place, or ever go back?More

Great atmosphere. Service is excellent. Steaks are delicious!! I have never recieved a bad meal here. My favorite place for a great steak!

This is one where I wish I could give half rounds as The Caroline falls between 3 and 4 rounds. Everything about this place pointed to a great experience - the building is beautiful, the folks are friendly, the salads served on colt metal plates...with excellent homemade dressings, the sides - especially the bourbon mushrooms - were excellent as was the steak and potato soup. Both the main dishes were quite mediocre. The salmon, beautifully scored with precise grill marks, had a nice maple glaze, which was overpowered by the bland taste of the fish itself. The 6 ounce filet, ordered medium rare, came out closer to medium well and it predominately tasted of charcoal. It was actually somewhat tough. The server never asked if the meals were prepared properly. If we ever return, I would be going the small plates route with appetizers, soups and salads.More

Last time was really poor. Worst food ever. With that said, I learned to not get the fish! This time got a nice steak. It was prepared perfectly. Meat was tender, potato was hot, everything was great!

Our team met up with the next days guests to discuss activities and to break the ice! The atmosphere was great and the service and food were exceptional. Great choices including prime rib, scallops and surf and turf specials that night. A good beer and...wine list complemented the food and the dessert menu would have also been great if there was room. We were on our way home from Michigan and decided to venture into downtown Troy. We had never been to Troy so we didn’t know what to expect. We parked and walked for a little. We asked a local couple for a recommendation and they...said to try the Caroline. We were looking for something light and Brandi, our waitress recommended their Caroline salad with chicken. I had the southwestern egg rolls. We were very satisfied. To top everything off, we shared the chocolate cake. Made a reservation to celebrate an anniversary. Had a very slow server. The portabello mushroom fries were over-cooked, and the chef's special...chicken paremesan was just so-so. Again the chicken was too crispy. My cocktail was too strong, couldn't taste anything but the alcohol. Way over-priced...for the quality of the food.More
