Disappointing igloo experience! We had an igloo on 12/29. The food and waitress were great. But partway through our meal the power to the igloos went out. The heaters went off and it got cold very quickly. My husband had to go find someone inside....No manager ever came out to apologize. Nor was there an offer to offset our inconvenience. I sent an email to contact management about our expo it never heard back. I’m very disappointed in the experience.More

Love Don’s Pomeroy House for Holidays! It is beautifully decorated and service is always top notch. A request for a first floor table to accommodate an elderly person was made and we had a delightful Server who even took the time to snap a pic...for us. Cocktails are fabulous and wine by the glass is a good size pour. A seafood dip starter was delicious as was our salmon entree. Roast duck was over cooked and a trio of steak filets did not live up to its potential. All in all though we had a great holiday me as l and would definitely recommend.More

My large family pre-booked a private dining room on the second floor of the restaurant for our annual holiday gathering. The waitress was pleasant and our food was delicious. The behavior of the restaurant manager, Mitch, on the other hand was appalling and discriminatory. The...restaurant lacks an elevator, thus my elderly parents (both physically handicapped) were forced to use the chair-lift attached to the staircase. At the end of the evening, as we were assisting my dad into the chair-lift, Mitch approached some family members waiting at the bottom of the staircase, pointed his finger and yelled "If you people aren't out of here in 5 minutes, I'm calling the police"! Shocked, I replied "excuse me"? He repeated himself and added "You people were told to leave 20 minutes ago. This restaurant closes in 5 minutes"! He began pacing back and forth, while we waited for the chair-lift. "Get out of here" he kept yelling, "Just get out of here"! I tried to speak with him, reason with him. I explained how slowly the chair-lift operated. He would have none of it. He replied "Get your parents and go"! The waitstaff, cleaning the first floor dining room, looked embarrassed and fearful. Needless to say, my family and I are appalled. We spent nearly $2000 that night. We weren't rude or noisy. At 9:45, a young man came into our dining room and announced he had been "sent upstairs to tell us it was time to leave". We politely gathered our things and began our exit. I have contacted the owner, with no response. My advice: stay away from Mitch.More

I had a birthday recently, and decided to chance dining out at a high quality, fine dining restaurant. Because of the virus, I would have preferred eating outdoors, but the cold October evening didn't bode well for our comfort. Masks were required and the dining...room had very few other customers, at very safe distances. What a perfect spot for the celebration, the library room at Don's. We started with a cocktail and a fine Willamette Valley Pinot Gris to accompany the tasty and well presented Caesar crab salad. For dinner, I enjoyed a mushroom demiglace filet mignon with fingerling potatoes and grilled French beans. My husband loved the seared scallops with micro greens, lobster mashed Yukons and a lobster bisque sauce. Our excellent servers were Alisha and Megan, who attended to every need and concern. To finish our dining off, we were surprised by the giant eclair with candle that I was presented. All in all, a delicious dining experience well serviced and left completely content. Thank you.More

Perfect dinner today at the outdoor patio. With Covid 19 we have been avoiding indoor dining and were so glad to find Dons with it’s wonderful outdoor dining. The large trees surrounding the area give a nice natural shade along with the umbrellas at the...tables. It is first come first serve for outdoor seating but we arrived shortly after they opened at 3 and didn’t have a wait, but by the time we left there were several people waiting for tables. The food and service were also great.More

First of all the food was great. Our server was wonderful. My issue was when we were being seated we were given a booth. I am a plus size lady so it was a little tight. When we asked for a table the hostess was...very short with us and said we would have to take the table in the entrance way. Now we did have reservations but we took the table in the doorway. I was embarrassed...didn't want to stay but we did. I spoke to yhe manager afterwards but he didn't seem concerned. I told him a couple was seated in a regular table shortly after we were so there was an available table. A little sensitivity goes a long way. I won't eat here again.More

I have lived in Strongsville for nearly 30 years. Don's used to be the place we would go for special events like birthdays and anniversaries. However it's been a year since I last tried it and the service was absolutely terrible. It was a special...occasion celebrating my wife's birthday and we had her mother along. The folks that work there now are simply not trained in customer appreciation. I had called and told them that it was a special birthday dinner but no mention was ever made, they seated us as far from the front as you could go moving along empty tables the entire way. Whoever the manager was that evening couldn't fathom that an 80 year old woman might have trouble. The food was very late and while it was tasty it was somewhat cold. All that being said this used to be a place you could count on for a special dining experience. Someone has told me since that their executive chef left and started a restaurant across the street. It shows, I spent $300 for three people but truly there was nothing special about it. I would highly suggest the Italian village down the street about a mile for a great meal at a reasonable price. Anyone who has gone in the Dons recently and gives an honest review well tell you how far they have gone downhillMore

I have been to thousands of bars/restaurants over my days, but never ever met such a NASTY and RUDE person as Jillian. Talk about a person that hates the world, because she has not worked for a quality life; why is that fault, and better...yet, why I am dealing with this? Goto Rosewood Grill; never had a bad experience there!! :)More

I've visited the Pomeroy House in Strongsville's town center several times. I've never been disappointed. I've come for a late-night cocktail, a rehearsal dinner, and several special dinners, the most recent being my daughter's birthday dinner. The menu is more diverse than I remember from...past visits. Everyone can find something they'll enjoy. The scallops were marvelous. The steaks were very good. The house salad is not to be missed. The house itself is magnificent with a priceless history. There are dining spaces that appeal to the diner as if you were in someone's home, which you are! Several people have indicated they believe the menu is over-priced. It is not a place you can go and concern yourself with the prices. And if you are concerned about the lack of a children's menu, you may want to make an alternative choice for a meal. Not every restaurant is appropriate for kids. All in all, I put Don's Pomeroy house in my top 5 repeat restaurants in Northeast Ohio.More

Very good dinner in the pub area. Valentine's Day very busy but food was spot on. We started with breaded wings and their "chips and dip" which was Maine lobster, crab, spinach and artichoke casserole · crispy pita chips. Warm and full of lobster and...crab. We also tried their Sea Bass - Chilean Sea Bass. Pan seared · lump crab cake · French beans · shiitake mushrooms · cherry port vinaigrette. Wow. Everything my wife likes on one plate. We tried the 20 hour Beef Brisket - mashed potatoes , carrots , onions, biscuit and beef gravy. Perfect for a cold day. Bistro salad. - wild greens, spinach · macadamia nuts · sunflower seeds · parmesan vinaigrette New Orleans Style Bread pudding - Cinnamon rill base with Southern whiskey-bourbon sauce CRÈME BRULEE Baked custard · caramelized sugar · raspberry and mango coulisMore

I don't know when it became part of the Don's chain but it was already Pomeroy House named after an important person in Strongsville, OH. There is a lot of history in this house. I believe it was part of the Underground... More

Yes- has been there for many years in Strongsville. Also a Don's Lighthouse in Cleveland. I think they could readily accommodate you for a Rehearsal Dinner. Have given and attended several functions there.
