We arrived early, to a very full parking lot, yet were seated immediately at our reserved table. Table service was excellent; timely, personable, and accurate. Kitchen service was slower and a bit off. Florida Shrimp Cocktails were long but not plump. Crab Caesar Salad had such small pieces of crab I had to wear reading glasses to see the crab. The 6 oz. filet special came under-cooked, but was quickly returned for a perfect medium. The Brussel Sprouts were lightly seasoned and mild to the taste. The Carolina Grouper was the star of our dining expreience! Plump, succulent, served with a potato crust and maple-cranberry vinaigrette sauce, butternut squash, and delicious grilled grilled asparagas. I'd order the Carolina Grouper again in a heart-beat! Following Dinner we retired to the basement Bar; nicely finished Pub/Bar with a bit of class. Service in the Bar (we were seated at the Bar) was excellent. They also have a veryn casual pation with casual menu.

I've visited the Pomeroy House in Strongsville's town center several times. I've never been disappointed. I've come for a late-night cocktail, a rehearsal dinner, and several special dinners, the most recent being my daughter's birthday dinner. The menu is more diverse than I remember from past visits. Everyone can find something they'll enjoy. The scallops were marvelous. The steaks were very good. The house salad is not to be missed. The house itself is magnificent with a priceless history. There are dining spaces that appeal to the diner as if you were in someone's home, which you are! Several people have indicated they believe the menu is over-priced. It is not a place you can go and concern yourself with the prices. And if you are concerned about the lack of a children's menu, you may want to make an alternative choice for a meal. Not every restaurant is appropriate for kids. All in all, I put Don's Pomeroy house in my top 5 repeat restaurants in Northeast Ohio.

I had a birthday recently, and decided to chance dining out at a high quality, fine dining restaurant. Because of the virus, I would have preferred eating outdoors, but the cold October evening didn't bode well for our comfort. Masks were required and the dining room had very few other customers, at very safe distances. What a perfect spot for the celebration, the library room at Don's. We started with a cocktail and a fine Willamette Valley Pinot Gris to accompany the tasty and well presented Caesar crab salad. For dinner, I enjoyed a mushroom demiglace filet mignon with fingerling potatoes and grilled French beans. My husband loved the seared scallops with micro greens, lobster mashed Yukons and a lobster bisque sauce. Our excellent servers were Alisha and Megan, who attended to every need and concern. To finish our dining off, we were surprised by the giant eclair with candle that I was presented. All in all, a delicious dining experience well serviced and left completely content. Thank you.

I have lived in Strongsville for nearly 30 years. Don's used to be the place we would go for special events like birthdays and anniversaries. However it's been a year since I last tried it and the service was absolutely terrible. It was a special occasion celebrating my wife's birthday and we had her mother along. The folks that work there now are simply not trained in customer appreciation. I had called and told them that it was a special birthday dinner but no mention was ever made, they seated us as far from the front as you could go moving along empty tables the entire way. Whoever the manager was that evening couldn't fathom that an 80 year old woman might have trouble. The food was very late and while it was tasty it was somewhat cold. All that being said this used to be a place you could count on for a special dining experience. Someone has told me since that their executive chef left and started a restaurant across the street. It shows, I spent $300 for three people but truly there was nothing special about it. I would highly suggest the Italian village down the street about a mile for a great meal at a reasonable price. Anyone who has gone in the Dons recently and gives an honest review well tell you how far they have gone downhill

We were a group of 5 people and decided to have dinner while in Middleburg Heights on business. Don’s Pomeroy House had great reviews so our expectations were high. It’s an old establishment, but I found the decor to be outdated and drab. I had the scallops and mashed potatoes, which was a good dish overall. However, the scallops were slightly overcooked. The service was good and food came out quickly. However, our waiter was impatient and annoyed whenever someone requested something slightly different in the menu. It’s the kind of behavior you’d see from servers in diners, but not in fine dining restaurants. Overall, it was an ok experience and I wouldn’t recommend this fine dining restaurant, especially if you are being waited on by unprofessional staff

I have been eating at Pomeroy House for 40 years. We love the casual pub on the lower level and outdoor seating in the summer. Food and service are USUALLY good but when it’s bad, it’s REALLY bad. Had dinner with friends a couple of weeks ago and I ordered the Bistro Salad with chicken. The salad was completely boring and the chicken was so well done, I could barely eat it. If we weren’t with friends, it would have gone back in two seconds or whenever our waiter got around to getting back to us. His service was poor and never brought us the delicious bread normally served with meals. When I asked if they don’t serve bread anymore, he commented, “oh yes” but never got the clue that he never served it. We were almost through so didn’t push it. For the years of success that Pomeroy has experienced, they should have this down and stop treating your good customers with poor quality and service. This isn’t the first time and when I had to complain a couple years back, they never responded. Now it’s public.

Love Don’s Pomeroy House for Holidays! It is beautifully decorated and service is always top notch. A request for a first floor table to accommodate an elderly person was made and we had a delightful Server who even took the time to snap a pic for us. Cocktails are fabulous and wine by the glass is a good size pour. A seafood dip starter was delicious as was our salmon entree. Roast duck was over cooked and a trio of steak filets did not live up to its potential. All in all though we had a great holiday me as l and would definitely recommend.

Perfect weather, perfect patio! Upscale dining and great service. My only comment is that the wait staff wear not wearing masks during this Delta surge...I would appreciate the staff handling food be taking precautions.

Sitting on the patio and ordered a cheeseburger well done (for over $15) . When I received I added ketchup and cut it in half to discover it was way to rare for my liking. I of course sent it back. I was shocked when the same burger was returned to me after having the ketchup scraped off the bun and microwaved the entire meal. The red juices from the burger made the bun and fries gross. I can't believe they did this, even a fast food restaurant servers you a new burger if they screw it up.

I booked a reservation for 10bfor my mom’s 90th birthday. I can’t say enough how GREAT the food and service was. I was hesitant to book there because it’s more expensive than some restaurants….however, we all loved our meals. First up was the pretzel crusted walleye which 4 of us ordered. AMAZING taste! The best value on the menu at $32. The NY strip steak was ordered by 3 and it was cooked perfectly. The roasted Brussels sprouts were delicious and the crab dip appetizer was wonderful. Don’t miss a chance to eat at Don Pomeroy House.

I ordered the walleye which was good but really oily. It came with sweet potato fries which were barely warm and a few brussels sprouts which were hardly even cooked. The staff was very friendly and service was excellent. I will come back and give them another chance.

We used to go to to Don's in the 80's. I took my prom date there in 1987, I haven't been there for a while. We have gone twice in the last 6 months for my parents 80th birthdays. The first visit was ok although i was still hungry and they allowed the kids in the party to order burgers from the pub. This time the manager absolutely would not allow them to order from the pub. My mother ordered the mussels that looked like the lid fell off the pepper shaker, she had to send it back. We asked for more bread since the entree's took so long and was given 1 basket of bread for 13 people. We will not go back.

Wife and I were in Brecksville visiting her brother, he suggested the Pomeroy House. We arrived about 5:30pm on a Sunday, not crowded. An excellent server took our drink orders, the bartender mixed up the gimlet my brother-in-law ordered with something else, quickly corrected. The food was prepared just right and attractively served....if it wasn't 1200 miles away I'd go back again soon

It was really cold in there sitting in the pub. The atmosphere is really great but we asked three times to turn off the air conditioning (we were with a party of 8 and even the guys were cold). I think it was in the 50s maybe 60 outside. The service was really slow, they were understaffed. Ordered a grilled chicken Caesar and I got one crouton maybe two on it. Asked twice for more croutons and they brought me out like four. Not sure if they were just understaffed that day but we got the bill and it was over $70 just for three people to get 2 sandwiches and a salad in a wind tunnel. Not worth it.

Had not been to Don's Pomeroy House for about 4 years. Not sure if the fine dining has gone downhill or we just were there on a bad night. Reservations were at 5, one other couple in dining room. We were seated for 15 minutes before we saw our waitress. She handed us the cocktail menu which was 2 pages long and immediately asked what drink we wanted, no time to read the menu. She had to make the requested coffee and brought the wrong cocktail. Another 15 minutes before we saw her to request correct cocktail which she did eventually bring. Sadly bartender did not know how to make a mojito; I could only taste tonic water and the bits of mint looked black. Could not taste mint or lime. Husbands seafood chowder ingredients did not taste fresh; daughters risotto was fishy and not edible. Celebrating a birthday, sorry to say that the wonderful éclairs that used to be served for special occasion has been replaced with dry hard cupcake which obviously had been in freezer for a while. It seems obvious that the casual dining area is now more important than fine dining. So sad. Used to be our go to place for special occasions, the decline in food and service was very noticeable. Will not be back.
