I am not really a fish and chicken person. So even though I knew about Sam Sylk's Chicken and Fish, I only went every now and then to get the great lemonade in a jar!!! (the best ever!). So my son was visiting me and...ordered from here and got some sweet potato pie for dessert. It was delicious! So now I had two things to get from Sam Sylks...lemonade and sweet potato pie! So I go in last week and just happened to ask, "Do you have chicken tenders?" They said yes! They were delicious!! I love this restaurant because the food is excellent. The food is reasonably priced. Go and enjoy the food. African American owned restaurant makes it a real plus!More

I am submitting this form to convey the experience that I just had with My first Sam's Silk meal. I have heard mixed reviews and preferred to try it myself. I have to say that I am hugely disappointed. I ordered an orange roughy and...wing dinner with fries, cole slaw, and a roll. Orange Roughy is by far my favorite fish and I didn't know that it could be served "bad" because every time I've ever had it, it's been amazing. My entire dinner went into the trash this afternoon. Every piece of fish in my container was hard and rubbery and had an extremely fishy smell and taste to it. The chicken skin was no better as it was also rubbery and slimy inside. The fries were nice and warm however they were hard like potato chips. I was hesitant about coming because a friend discouraged me and said that I would be disappointed. I disagreed and stated that it couldn't be that bad and some places just earn a bad reputation because of one bad order; well I should have listened because I feel like I just wasted $20.00. I was going to purchase a slice of cake while I waited for my order however the demeanor of the cashier was so "stank" that I decided not to spend any additional money. As if her attitude and demeanor were not enough, as I was retrieving my food to leave, I asked if the honey siracha sauce was very spicy and her response was "I wouldn't know, I don't eat nothing from here". That should have been an indicator to ask for a refund. Even if I didn't eat the food at my job, I would never speak against the place that pays me. Not to mention when I paid her for my order, I handed her my money. When she gave me my change, she left it on the counter and walked away and also left my food for me to pick up in the same manner; just tacky, even during COVID season. I am hugely disgusted by this meal, not one thing was completely edible, the roll was sitting on top of the lemons so even that was soggy on the bottom. I didn't even attempt the coleslaw.More

The family ordered two boxes of wings! They were great. The wings were very tasty. They were cooked to a golden brown and had just the right amount of seasoning on them. I personally look forward to getting them again very soon!

I usually order via uber eats. I always (99% of the time) order the perch dinner. It's cooked just as ordered. I get 4 very large pieces of fish, crispy fries, homemade coleslaw and a dinner roll, with tartar sauce and hot sauce, all for...$9.95. It's worth the uber charge to have it delivered, hot and ready to eat. I have ordered cake for dessert if they have red velvet and lemon. When I order chicken wings, extra crisp, I order 20, for <$1 a wing. ( Whole wings ) They come very hot in a large, heavy duty foil container, with vent holes in the top, that keeps the wings from getting steamed and soft, but just as hot as if they just came out of the fryer, minus the grease. I do order cold cans of pop too, but if you like REAL HOMEMADE, DOWN TO EARTH, MAC & CHEESE, you gotta try it. If you are a petite eater, the small, with wings or something else will fill you up, but the large can be shared or in my case, make a meal. I kid you not. You will be happy. They have other fish, and a great sandwich menu as well as a very adequate dinner menu. Parking may be a little problem, but you can order anything to go. They definitely don't skimp on the to go containers. Happy eating. Visit them, so they stay in business for me for a very long time. At least the next 30+ years 😊. I'll be 99 then, and may have to taste my memories 😁!More

I don’t think fried chicken will ever go out of style in some form, and Samy Sylk is doing that fried chicken with splendor. This isn’t the first time we’ve got chicken from Sam Sylk, and it must be catching on, because he has three...locations now. My wife said the people who worked there (Sept 1) were really friendly and courteous. (The Mayfield location), there was a line of people, and that is an indication of acceptance. If you go to a place where there aren’t any cars in the parking lot, or people waiting, what does that tell you? Chicken is delish, and the fish nuggets are tasty too. This won’t be the last time.More

This was my second visit to this location. First time I stood in the ordering area for 5 to 10 minutes watching a person ignore me. I spoke said hello several times and they never acknowledged my presence. I walked out. The second visit the...sign said open, but there were no lights on.More

Clean, friendly customer service and great food for a great price. I tried the chicken, catfish, perch and sides. All good. I had German Chocolate cake for dessert and it too was good.
