Went to the Tavern of Independence and was very disappointed. Service was terrible and music that was playing was awful. Will not go back

It was what I wanted when I wanted it. The server was good and I will stop again. My visit was on a busy Friday evening and I enjyed my meal and the atmosphere.
We visited the Tavern on Friday April 30th at about 6pm. The place was packed. I'm glad to say our server Racheli was on top of her game! She kept our beers coming and never missed a beat. The kitchen was slammed but the food...came out asap. The food was excellent, hot and tasty. We had Pita Nachos as a starter. They were great Everyone loved their sandwiches. Especially the Piggyback which is a burger with pulled pork atop it with bbq sauce. It's a winner. We had a great time here and hope you do too should you visit.More
Lunchtime Friday - only a handful of patrons. Phoned in my order ahead for pick up, Paid $12.45 for a Philly Cheesesteak with a side of tater tots. Order was ready when I arrived. Service was friendly. Got back to the office. My request for...a side of mayo was forgotten. The entire meal was soggy, l am talking liquid soggy, couldn't even tell the bun was toasted. There were more tater tots than one human could eat in a sitting. The steak had the taste of sitting in the frig for longer that it should have. Wasn't very tasty at all. Won't be back. Suggest heading across the street to Cozumel.More
I will go there as much as my purse can take. the price is a bit high but the food is very good. Fast service and a really nice place
Stopped here one evening to pick up a carry out meal. Ordered a cheeseburger. Was told I had to have fries or cole slaw. I didn't want fries or cole slaw. Was told I had no choice - fries or cole slaw included. No changes,...no substitutions, no exceptions. I tried to explain the lack of logic in ordering food to throw in the trash. Got a blank stare. So I asked the waitress to throw out the fries or cole slaw before bringing out my order. According to the menu, the burger also came with lettuce & tomato. Went home with my meal to find the fries had been thrown out as requested. But I had no lettuce/tomato either. So ultimately I paid for fries and toppings that I didn't receive. Very disappointing. Taste wise, it was just okay. Burgers are hand-formed which was apparent because the burger was falling apart while eating it. I had hoped for a better experience. As a side note, while waiting for my meal I inquired about their wine selection. Very limited choices.More
This could be a nice neighborhood sports bar/restaurant but it need some work. Layout is nice with a good sized outdoor area, which unfortunately was not open because they didn't have any one to man the area. Service in general was slow and my salad...was pretty brown. Hope they step up their game.More
My husband and I went here for the first time today for Sunday lunch. Very nice atmosphere, good food, friendly waitress, we will definitely be back. Have outside bar and patio for warm weather too.
Make sure you try the tater tot appetizer, filling, decadent, and delicious! We had the pot roast which was tender and filling, and the pork chop, which was a tad overdone but great flavor. The accompanying cheesy mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts are tasty. Our...only complaint was the salad. It tasted like a bag salad that had been frozen.More
We were in the Cleveland area for a show at State Theater on a Sunday. After doing some searching for a pre-show meal, we found Tavern of Independence and knew that it had just opened in the past few weeks. Sticking to our no-chain-restaurants-mantra when...we travel, we decided to give it a try. We will be back!!! The food is beyond delicious . . . .we made appetizers out of some of the sides . . .. such as the Parmesan Pea Risotto . ..outstanding! The bacon appetizer is out-of-this world delicious. It was a chilly evening so I immediately went for comfort food--the Chicken Pot Pie--it was decadent! Rich, creamy, and the topping was flaky and buttery . . . .almost as if phyllo sheets married ciabatta. An overwhelming selection of beers, but our server Jamie did a wonderful job in deciphering what I might like the best . . . . .and she was right! A jazz trio was just beginning to play that night . . . .I can't wait to go back when I can spend more time there. Caution--the portions are huge! You'll be taking food home and it will be just as delicious.More
We've been here a few times and each time we've had awesome food and great service! Even when they are ful they will do everything they can to get you a seat asap! We definitely will be going back!
If you like 'em, don't miss the fried brussel sprouts appetizer. And if you order the loaded tater tots, make sure you have about 4 people to share them with! The Blue Shroom Burger and pork chop dinner were delicious, and our server was wonderful...and friendly. Interesting, not the usual run of the mill menu. We'll be back to try something else.More
A nice upgrade from the former Panini's and doomed "Pub 21". Bar was pretty packed on a recent Friday early evening and not well staffed at all. One bartender was serving the entire bar and also handling take out-which I had. Had to wait a...good 10 minutes for her to ring me out after she spotted me. I usually tip a little even for pick up, but did not in this case as the bartender basically ignored me for more likely tips from those ordering drinks. Service aside, the food was very good. The menu is limited, but that I find is usually a positive as the kitchen can focus a little more. Had the BLET on thick Texas Toast. A great sandwich with lots of thick cut, smokey bacon. I would definitely come here for lunch but until they get more help, skip the take out and pack lot of patience if you are at the bar.More
Great place to catch a beer, watch the game, and eat quality food with great service! It's for sure a local place that is also owned locally. Hope to be a regular at this place. The decor is nice and clean; great sight and seating...to watch a game. The menu is straight forward and amazing. Good prices for quality food. Service was great! She never forgot anything and was on it. Food was amazing; dessert was so good. The Chef even came out to our table and went around to everyone and asked how everything was, that was very impressive. Thankful to have a place like this around the corner from home. We will definitely be in there more often.More
My daughter and I wanted to try the new place out so we went to grab a quick bite to eat. She got wings (1/2 price wings on Monday) and we got hummus appetizer. I got the Portobello mushroom wrap. The wrap was pretty good....The fries were hot. The hummus was just ok. I was happy to see vegetarian options. I'd go again.More
