Good local cafe with comfy feel and modern decor. Good cafe and limited offerings of goodies..Good takeaway sanwiches for our lunches..Not to many to choose from in Derby, but this one would be ahead of the rest.

On the main street, we stopped for coffee and a snack at this quirky café which seemed to be a favourite with mountain bikers. We sat outside in nicely located seats, elevated above the level of the street. The service was friendly though it appeared to be a bit disorganised. But the results were good, very good coffee and tasty,... More

Even on a cold, wet Tassie day this cafe will brighten things up. Warming lunches, treats and coffees, with the attached gallery for browsing afterwards. Great, friendly staff happy to chat. We didn't mountain bike, but I imagine it would be the ideal place for a mountain-sized hunger.

Great coffee and excellent food. You should ride in blue derby bike park and then indulge yourself with the mango cheesecake

Superb people in a lovely setting. The owner has painted the doors in an n'Debele pattern with bright colours. The food is exquisite. We had a Devonshire tea and the tea came in a pot, as it should, the scones were freshly baked, and came with good strawberry jam and real cream, not the frothy plastic kind. Congratulations to the... More

Derby has found its way onto the tourist trail - the bike variety that is - with loads of good riding trails around & an international bike event heading there next April. We have driven through a few times and found this to the best in consistently good coffee and cakes (you should SEE the display of yummy things). Art... More

A beautiful location but extremely expensive for what you get. $5 a coffee, and the same for a shortbread biscuit. And a lack of toilets. The gallery is nice, however we had to ask for it to be opened up. Overrated.

We are very sorry that you were overcharged for the shortbread biscuit and possibly the coffee. We do charge $5 for a large coffee in line with most places in the North East of Tasmania. We are currently training more staff to cope with the all the customers we are now getting and as they are learning we appreciate being... More

A touch of class with many choices of light mains and delicious home made cakes and slices. A very relaxed atmosphere with a lounge area and local art works and pieces for sale

The little old tin mining town of Derby on the A3 in the North East of Tasmania is having a bicycle led recovery. A huge network of mountain bike trails centered around Derby and the popularity of Tasmania as a bicycle touring destination is creating opportunities for cafes and bike related services. The Painted Door Art Cafe in the main... More
