Having driven past this place for many years, we decided to try it out. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and the food was interesting and tasty if somewhat pricey for what you get.

First visit and wont be the last. Everything I had was delicious, freshly prepared, full of flavour and I really got the impression that each element had been thought through. I think a couple of others on our table were slightly less impressed, maybe I just chose all the right things! Overall a lovely dining experience.

We were blown away by having dinner at this place. What a unexpected delight; service was great as was the atmosphere. Great menu, very different to what we usually see in London. The fact that the establishment changes its menu regularly is a testament to how good their chef is. I ordered smoked salmon chowder and enjoyed it more than... More

So the story for our visit to this establishment is as follows. My girlfriend and I fancied a Sunday roast and so googled 'best roast dinners in Sussex'. One of the results was The Independent newspaper featuring 50 of the best roasts in the UK which featured The Horse Guards Inn. Naturally we took a visit after making a booking.... More

Cracking pub with quirky interior, great atmosphere and lovely food. Couldn't fault it, we all came away happy and full. Food is delicious and served beautifully. Really is well above pub standard. Prices are reasonable, was £40 per head for three courses each and alcoholic drinks, which included one steak main and a side. The lemon posset is highly recommended,... More

This is a quaint and quite eccentric pub. Shabby chic inside with a wonderland garden but the food is not gastro pub, this is fine dining. We were all knocked out by the quality of the food. The staff were very efficient with a fine sense of humour. We will be back

A great menu - lots of choice, nice old building - cosy in winter. I have had lunch and dinner here both were great. It is more gastro than pub grub

Visited twice in one week. First visit with a close friend. Second visit with family. The Pub looked lovely, inside and out. The menu is short but seasonal and interesting, with a mix of classic and unusual dishes. The booking with my friend was not written down in the reservations book, resulting in a rushed lunch, ' we can fit... More

I like this pub-restaurant. A lot. It is more than expensive enough to be an irregular treat, but really who cares; it's worth it. I've been a handful of times now and it is always consistently great service, nice place to be and a-m-a-z-i-n-g food...with a short but apparently regular changing menu ...OK, maybe I'm easily pleased - but I... We ate supper and breakfast here while staying at the Horse Guards' cottage. As a pub, the HGI is friendly, interesting and comfortable and the service is excellent. The menu is varied and the wine selection is adventurous and high-quality. If you're there for a Drink, the garden is a must: beds, benches, bales of hay, lights strung between the... More
