My partner and I were staying in Shipston for a few days and had El cafe recommended to us. It did not disappoint. We had tapas and the dishes were tasty and good portion sizes, definitely more than enough for a main meal which is...sometimes my concern with tapas menus. Overall great value for money. The staff were helpful and everything felt very clean. Lovely sangria too!More

Not only was the food excellent, in fact on a par with a great bar in Barcelona, but the staff were attentive while not being overbearing .

We dined here last night and we really enjoyed it. All the staff are so welcoming, a special thank you to AJ who looked after us so well! We had a selection of tapas and everything was delicious. The atmosphere is really nice and we...will definitely be back when we are in the area again.More

Definitely worth a visit when in the Cotswolds! Amazing tapas dishes and service and the owner is very friendly and welcoming! Big fan of the prawns! One of my faves in the area!

Within the courtyard of an elegant Victorian building and surrounded by a well known regional wine shop is this elegant and atmospheric Ele Cafe tapas bar. It has an extensive choice of the very best tapas you can have and currently they have also extended...their own "eat out to help out" special discount mini menu which currently includes a Paella dish where the second person ordering goes free - in other words a Paella for two for the price of one. We have booked to come back for that particular deal next week. In the meantime we were tempted on the special Tapas meal for four where the chef will choose a couple of platters of cold meat and cheese for starters with a range of 8-10 tapas items which we found challenging to finish. The service was impeccable and most welcoming hence rebooking for next week. There is plenty of parking and Shipston itself is worth exploring - a small but charming market town. One amusing note - towards the end of the evening we smelt burning - the chef had burnt his own pizza which he planned to have at the end of serving!More

We stayed in Shipton for 1 night, and pre-booked before we left home, which was just as well as they only had the 6pm slot available. Staff were very friendly. Food was lovely, as was the wine. I would eat here again and recommend to...family and friends.More

We had the prawns which were delicious and juicy, calamari was not in batter so not greasy and perfectly cooked. Also had the mushrooms, patatas bravas, lemon chicken skewers and meatballs. Portions pretty generous and we were also given some bread and salad. Nice casual...environment and the staff were super-helpful and friendly. Couldn't fault anything.More

Just had one of the best evenings out in ages. The food and wine is authentic, delicious and affordable but what makes this place super special are the staff and management. Just book it and go, the only regrets you’ll have are that you didn't...go sooner.More

We had been here prior to lockdown and enjoyed the food and had good service. We went this week and did not have a good experience. The boardroom was so hot and they had done nothing to mitigate this like put a fan in the...room. I understand that it was very hot weather but the room was unbearable. The rooms still had all the tables in and there was no effort to social distance. The servers kept having to squeeze between my husband’s chair and another man’s chair it was that close together. The food in the group tapas was pretty much exactly the same as when we were last there, no variation and it seemed ever so greasy. My father in law had to go out at one point for fresh air as he was feeling nauseous with the heat and the greasy food. We had about 4 or 5 different servers during the evening and things were forgotten. I ordered an alcohol free old mout cherries and berries as was on the menu but a different flavoured kopperberg came out. Normally this wouldn’t bother me, but on this occasion it was just another thing to pick out and fault. It’s such a shame because we have heard such good reviews about this place and had a good experience before, but earlier this week was just not good.More

We went here and had a lovely tapas meal. The food was amazing and reasonably priced and staff were very helpful. The restaurant is very authentic and has a lovely atmosphere. The thing that let down our visit was the way the owner/manager was treating...his staff. We witnessed on multiple occasions the owner being unnecessarily rude to his staff and they looked distressed by this - despite them working very hard to make sure our meal was enjoyable! It made us feel uncomfortable as we felt that it was out of order and could not see why he was repeatedly having a go at them. Just want to say thank you to the staff here for being amazing despite the pressure they were under.More
