This is an ancient stone pub with a thatched roof. The main bar is very cosy, with exposed stone walls, oak beams and a huge open fire. It very much has the look and feel of a rustic pub in a small village, but surprisingly...it lies in a residential area just north of Shipston town centre. There are three handpumps offering a well chosen selection of ales mainly from smaller independent and sometimes local breweries. The other big surprise here is the menu, which is Thai - and not just a handful of Thai choices but the full menu that you would expect in a Thai restaurant. The restaurant is in a separate room to the side of the bar, but they are perfectly happy for you to eat in the bar if, as I do, you prefer. The food is very good and reasonably priced. There is also an excellent Victorian postbox set in the wall of the pub.More
