We were staying nearby and tried to get a table here - Paul made the effort to come and find us when a table became available after we left! The food and the service were fantastic, definitely recommend dinner here.

Visiting the area for a couple of nights with two young children and took a recommendation from our cottage owner to try the Bower House. With a 2 and 4 year old, we were a little worried on arriving that the restaurant was a bit...too formal, but they were so accommodating and we felt really comfortable throughout. The service was exceptional and our waitress completely understood what we needed - prompt ordering, swift delivery of the kids food, etc. The atmosphere and food were also great, and would love to visit again without children one day - but the service made us jump online and write this review. They even did our grown-up desserts to take away!More

We visited The Bower House on Saturday evening, and it was one of the few meals we have had out since the beginning of the various Covid related lockdowns. We were really impressed with all the measures that had been put in place to make...us feel safe, yet these measure were not intrusive so it made us feel we were on a blissful 'normal' evening out. I have several allergies which staff were very happy to accommodate and made me feel confident about the food I was ordering. The atmosphere was relaxed, the service attentive and friendly, and the food delicious.More

Staff all very attentive & friendly. The food was excellent, I had chicken liver parfait to start, it was the best I’d ever had. Then fish of the day, plaice, so very tasty. The COVID precautions were first class, tables well spaced out each with...its own hand sanitiser. Hygiene has always been a priority for me as I have health conditions. The only restaurant where I feel totally relaxed & safe. Very professionally run with excellent food, what more could you ask for.More

We had friends coming up from London and booked a table for Sat eve. They liked the look, and keeping it local meant less driving. We are vegans, our friends not, there looked like a couple of vegan options on the menu, a beyond meat...burger (£15) and Beetroot Orzo, (£16) ok not wildly excitable, but it was for our friends. Nice atmosphere and like the arty decor, hose manager met us, I hoped the chef could maybe push the boat out on the vegan cuisine - no chance! Soup good, food really average, our friends steak was ok but the cod was about 2x3 inches, (£21) we had to make him snacks and toast as soon as we got home. The only French red wine was a Burgundy and it was so poor for £50, no Bordeauxs in sight. The staff seemed freaked out by Covid, all in all a very disappointing nightMore

This is the second time we have dined here and we will definitely be back when we are in the area. Firstly, the food is amazing. What more can I say! The atmosphere and ambiance are lovely and friendly. Thanks to Paul for taking the...trouble to welcome us, and a special mention to Grace who looked after us. We had a lovely chat with her and she couldn’t do enough to make sure we had everything we needed. This is such a wonderful place to dine and I would highly recommend it.More
