This pub has made a good and sensible attempt at social distancing and sanitising. without being officious. It felt clean. Friendly and flexible staff, and most importantly a good pint of Guinness.

It’s a fullers pub so you will be getting decent beer, let’s face it that’s what you are in a pub for. Gamma Ray on tap which is an excellent ipa. The staff are good fun once warmed up. Shame the last orders are a...little early.More

Excellent in every way. Food wonderful and the service and staff were just amazing. Nothing was too much trouble and the service was quick and friendly. The food was first class. Turkey, trout and beef Wellington all excellent, and we were even treated to canapés...and complimentary prosecco! Can't recommend it highly enoughMore

You can have Cock and Bull here but there is a secret, because if you are discrete you can get something else ...say to the team.."what is the special? Then wink three times with both eyes..they will say "beef or cow"...always pick cow..it's sublime! If...you want chicken that's fine..but it's not the same as the male bird..a much better taste richer darker more succulent..all you need to do when asked is to stand up and shout " I want cock and no bull! ...do a C sign in the air..John travolta Saturday night fever stance...and sit down! It's worth the extra effort..they really do like their history and secret codes here! Have a great night!More

First timers. Wasn’t sure what to expect but was immediately taken in with the whole set up from the music to the decor to the welcoming bar staff and waitresses. Food and drink was more than value for money with everyone doing what they could...to provide the best possible experience. The whole family loved it and we will definitely be going back.More

Went here for our Sunday lunch. The main menu wasn't very extensive but included a Sunday roast choice which was what we were looking for. We had the chicken, beef and pork roast selections in our party including a childrens roast which was huge for...a childs meal. The food was average but nothing to shout about. The plates were cold and therefore some of the food on the plate wasnt very warm. We also had to wait 5 minutes for the sauces to be brought to the table to accompany the meal. We asked for extra gravy and they brought us a little gravy jug each. Desserts were limited aswell but the sticky toffee pudding with coffee icecream was delicious. Polite staff worked hard to make it a good experience. Its a very spacious pub, easilly fits a pushchair next to the table without causing obstructions. Lots of room to spread out and eat comfortably and you have to visit their amazing toilets aswell !More

Taciturn disinterested barmen,unfriendly/unhelpful staff, overzealous security...This used to be a good pub but has gone downhill a lot recently. If you want decent service, friendly staff and better atmosphere try o'neills etc...I wonder if staff already know they won't be at the cock and bull...for much longer? It would explain but not excuse the service/behaviour.More

This used to be a great pub but be warned..... I was in there tonight with a group of girl friends and as part of last orders they served us a round of drinks at about 11.55pm. Then at exactly midnight the bouncer came over...and told us we had to finish our drinks immediately. We didn't want to down the full drinks we'd just purchased so the bouncer insisted on standing less than a metre from our table staring at us whilst we finished our drinks. He refused to move to remind the other customers to finish their drinks just stood there staring at us which was quite creepy and off putting. This used to be a busy oh, I guess behaviour like this and the fact the bar staff couldn't see why it was weird explains why the pub was pretty empty throughout the evening (there were spare tables the whole eve). I have to say I'll definitely be drinking elsewhere in the future and would recommend others did too.More

The bar was open until midnight. We ordered a round of drinks just before which they were happy to sell us. As we walked back to our table with our drinks a bouncer followed us and told us to leave as the bar was closed....We explained that we'd just bought the drinks before the bell rang but he insisted we had to leave. . We said that we would leave as soon as we'd finished or drinks and he stood at our table and stared at us until we had done so. We had been in the pub since eight o'clock and had spent a substantial amount of money. We were courteous at all times, even when he was trying to intimidate us. I spoke to the bar staff and explained we would be leaving as soon as we'd finished our drinks, and they apologised but did not speak to the bouncer. I don't expect to be treated like a suspect in a criminal case for buying and finishing a drink during normal trading hours. As we left, I explained to the bar staff that we would be finding an alternative pub due to the rudeness we experienced. This is a real shame as the bar staff are lovely and I've always felt very welcome in this pub but I have never experienced anything like this before.More
