We arrived for Sunday lunch the day after a 2nd lockdown had just been announced for the following Thursday. The pub was extremely full already and despite not having a booking we were greeted with warmth and enthusiasm by the extremely friendly young man on...the door. Basically he set the tone for our visit, nothing was too much trouble and despite being so busy he managed to find us one of their heated outdoor booths for our drinks and lunch. Our server for the afternoon was Michael, who was fantastic and swiftly took our orders for drinks and food. We ordered the roast lamb special and the roast chicken with stuffing. Both were exceptionally tasty and came piled high with veg, lots of roast potatoes, a HUGE Yorkshire pudding and extra gravy in a jug. My husband’s lamb was especially delicious and I loved the red cabbage, one of the many vegetables which adorned our plates. Michael was an exceptional host, never leaving us for long without checking if we needed anything and bringing our drinks/food quickly with a laugh and a friendly smile. What particularly impressed us both was that both Michael and his colleagues had just heard that the pub was due to be shut for another month of lockdown and they were all probably anxious for their jobs and the future of the pub. And yet despite this worry hanging over them, they all remained incredibly cheerful and upbeat, an impressive feat given the circumstances. It goes without saying that we will be returning again as soon as the pub is able to open again. I should add that we have been to the Queens Head a few other times during August-October for drinks as well as Burgers & Steaks and were equally impressed with both the food and the service.More

This has become my go to pub since covid. They are very switched on and have lots of measures in place to make sure you can relax and enjoy your meal. I've been for brunch - the salmon was delicious! Sunday lunch there is also...a winner, lovely big yorkshires and a generous serve of veg. The staff are very friendly and efficient. I don't normally post but after a lovely lunch with my husband and kids last weekend I wanted to show my appreciation!More

Nice friendly staff, clean seating area but food very disappointing. Roast pork nice enough, came with lots of vegetables that were very over cooked. No apple sauce available! Haddock and chips extremely over cooked, fish not golden more dark brown and chips pretty awful. A...shame as it could all have been very nice. Need to change oil in the fryer and cook for less time! No toilet paper in the disabled toilet, my mother used her own key to enter as locked. Probably wouldn’t go back.More

I visited this pub four times, either I was with my partner or with my friends. I can attest to what some of the reviews are saying. Unassumingly situated along the busy Richmond Road lies a hidden gem in Kingston. What makes this place truly...remarkable is their food and spectacular service. Every visit, we vary our food order to try everything on the menu. It all turns out to be great in taste, portions and value. I highly recommend their Sunday Roast menu. As for the service, five stars! Staff are genial, courteous and knowledgeable about the food and beverage they are offering. I highly appreciate when they are quick to offer alternatives when something is not available. Definitely a fan of this pub. Hoping they would be able to sustain the tasty menu and spectacular service over time.More

Tried to pop here with s lips of an evening about 1800 and clearly stated to the host we were only requiring a drink for an hour and we’d be on our way. The pub is big and was literally empty inside and out save...for a few tables. Outside must’ve had ten free tables and most places don’t take bookings for these. The chap said there was no room at the inn as it was eat out to help out. Fair enough I’m no maths expert, but there’s no scenario I can envisage in life where the whole pub would suddenly fill up in the requested hour. It would be hospitable to offer one of the many tables (I could see at least 20 free tables in and out) and let us have said drink. It’s pretty bad business not to accommodate people when you can caveat that we may need to move as required like most places are doing at present. We went to the Boaters Inn nearby which was pretty busy (about 20 times busier than Queen lips), but the staff were friendly and went the extra mile to accommodate us for a drink for an hour. Lo and behold we walked back past the Queens Head on the way to dinner at the Grey Horse an hour later and it was still like the Mary Celeste. Don’t bother making the trip here as they don’t have much initiative. Bad business chaps. Sort it out!More

Perfect stay in this hidden gem. The queens head is so close to the Thames literally a two minute walk, also just ten minutes from the town not to mention a short drive to Richmond park. The decor is lovely both inside the pub and...the room. We had lunch and then breakfast the following day and the food was lovely, all fresh produce, better than what we had in town! The staff are all lovely, all helpful and very friendly. If you are looking for a stay, dinner or just a drink (great beer garden too) then book here. It’s so much nicer than staying right in town as you get to enjoy the walk in along the Thames. Thanks queens head for a perfect weekend.More

Last minute visit on a Friday evening - Booking was for a table inside and they kindly managed to move us to a table outside - This pub has been refurbished a number of times over the years, now looking very impressive. It was Covid...safe with one-way systems being observed and plenty of hand gel available - Kids menu limited but good portions.. Chicken and beef burgers were very tasty.. Service efficient and friendly.. Will be back for a Sunday Roast!!More

The Queen's head, is possibly the loveliest little spot in Kingston. My host, a young lad named Sam, truly went above and beyond to make me and my wife feel welcome. He had plenty of recommendations on which drinks went well with each meal (...I myself had the chicken burger with a bottle of merlot between my wife and I). The place was clean, fresh and tidy with a generally lovely air of warmth and excellent service all round. Give it a visit and treat yourself. Thanks Sam!More

We stayed here for the one night, we rarely get away as have 2 young children at home and we had a brilliant time. Food was amazing and so reasonably priced also. I didn’t get the girls name but she did her most to make...our stay enjoyable, even recommended a beautiful red wine that my husband loved. Our room was so huge with a massive comfortable bed, bathroom was a big size too and with a great shower too. only small thing would be the air conditioning wasn’t very powerful but that is just personal preference and didn’t hinder our experience at all. Breakfast was brilliant too. Definitely would stay again!!More
