There are food condiments (sauces etc) which are at ground level by the main bar. Two customers came in with 3 dogs between them & whilst they were waiting to be served their drinks the dogs were licking and sniffing all round the condiments. I suggested to a staff member that they should be kept higher up. The staff member said they would inform a manager. Three weeks later they are still kept in the same place!

We have always liked this pub, so decided to have a meal on the spur of the moment after walking our dogs nearby. We ordered the trout salad and Ham egg and chips. The latter was lovely, but the salad was terrible! The rocket was limp, as it would be if a few days old and left in the fridge, and very sparse on the plate. The dressing was non existent. The trout had a nice flavour but again was dry and seemed like it had been sitting around in a fridge for a few days. Sorry to write this but for as pubs are struggling to attract customers I feel they need to offer a consistent and decent standard of food. This was around £45 for 2 pretty basic plates of food, a shandy and a beer. We wont be back for a while as we would rather spend the limited amount we have to eat out somewhere where the food is better.

Staff are always polite & friendly but are obviously instructed by management to say ‘ card only payment as it is Fullers policy’. Fullers say it is not their policy and never has been. If other businesses in the village take cash payments why can’t this pub?
Very annoying if you are just buying one drink or packet of crisps on a trip to the bar.

Have never been here before but was on our way home from Guildford so decided to give it a go. Wish we had just kept driving.
We both ordered off of the specials board. I opted for the Smoked Haddock Fishcake which at £16.95 I expected something spectacular.
The board described it came with cucumber ribbons, chives, Italian mature cheese, pickled walnuts and tartare sauce.
Well it arrived with a wedge of lemon, full of pips. I now realise that this lemon was probably to add some moisture as when I cut into this thing it was immediately obvious that it was very dry. In fact I was able to literally lift the hard dry coating off the top in one piece. I could not taste any smoked haddock at all due to an overwhelming taste of pepper in my first mouthful. I gave it the benefit of the doubt that it might just be in one area and tried some more but no, it was all through it. Mind you it was only about 1.5cm thick so it was overly dry inside too. My husband then tried a bit and said that it was very strange. I ate a piece of cucumber ribbon, two slices of a pickled walnut and a cheese shaving. I did not eat any chives though because they were missing completely from the plate.
Our server came back to the table and I explained my disappointment. I had actually put my cutlery across the plate to signal I had stopped eating. Husband was still eating at this point. After about 5 mins the server came to retrieve the plates, he mentioned that he had spoken with his manager who offered two complimentary desserts. We did not want dessert though and I said I think it would be more appropriate to deduct that amount from the bill. Off he went again and returned and said that he was going to discount the bill by 20%. This equated to about £10 (which I now realise is actually less than their charge for two desserts) but as he presented it as an itemised bill, it showed that this ‘fishcake’ thing was actually £17.95 not £16.95. He had already processed the card payment before I had chance to check it though. He went away and came back with a pound coin but confirmed that the board was wrong. I asked what the kitchen had responded when he spoke with them but just said they had a new sous chef.
Incidentally the husband had pie, mash, greens and gravy and it was 50p cheaper.

After a long day took my daughter for dinner 18:00 on a Tuesday. For me, Chicken pate to start, toast was cold, the main which was beer battered haddock had been fried to death. They did bring gravy for my daughters chips though so forgiven. However, ordering desert at the bar one uses normal manners “may I have the fish please” to which the reply was “that’s ok” I’m pretty sure it’s ok, no one asked how my dinner was or I would of told them what is mentioned here. Can’t say it was very busy. Not very impressed. Wish I’d taken a picture of the nuked fish.

We have been coming to this pub for over 20 years as the location is convenient.
On this occasion the mains were delicious as always but the dessert was disappointing.
We asked for custard and was told there was only enough for 3 servings which was fine as only 3 people wanted custard.
When it arrived it was literally a teaspoon of custard , how was that a serving , we asked the waitress if we could have ice cream as the serving wasn't acceptable.
There was a long wait but eventually the ice cream arrived.
The next day we were splitting up the bill as there were 11 of us to see that we were over charged.
I contacted the fox and pelican by email pointing this out and a lady called Emily responded full of apologies and said a refund was available how much would we like, which I thought was a strange reply .
I replied to her email but didn't receive a reply back so sent another email and a week later still no reply.
Shocking customer service and sadly we won't be going back

Disappointing. I ordered a Sunday roast chicken and a large glass of Malbec. The Malbec tasted like it had been open for quite some time. The roast which is what I actually came for looked colourful and appetising. However the chicken was lukewarm and had obviously been poorly reheated. The best part of the whole dish was the roast potatoes and even those were of the reheated aunt Bessie type.
The staff were very apologetic and refunded the cost of the meal.
The pub itself looks very nice and has a nice ambience but I wouldn’t return for food.

Took the family for some lunch and drinks. The food was really good even the kids are it. The size of the meal was good slightly on the expensive side but you are paying for the location aswell which made it completely worth it. Drinks where great and lots of choice of IPA’s. Waiter was great and actually made sure to talk to the kids rather than through the adults, making sure to ask the how their food was aswell as ours. Super impressed so thank you Connor and the cooks.

Not a regular place we would visit as not local to us but we took mum out of her care home for lunch as this pub was close and looked nice.
The food was very poor and not good quality ingredients - the fish was not fresh and tasteless and didn’t taste like cod or haddock. When asked if we enjoyed our meals we gave the feedback and the waitress said she would inform the chef. When we asked to pay, we were told to go to the bar which was fair as we were sat in the bar area but the lady was quite rude and dismissive and didn’t have a kind or hospitable manner about her.
Nothing had been deducted from the bill which was very disappointing and no apology was made.
The worst Fullers pub I’ve been in!!

This was Mother’s Day lunch and my 4th visit. The first time about a year ago was good, but it has deteriorated with each visit drastically.
At least this time they had not run out of things on the menu, which always happens, but then it was only 12.30.
The roast itself was not great. There was a tiny portion of peas and leeks on the plate, the potatoes were not cooked properly-underdone and barely roasted. The pork was fine. We were brought a very small round dish of cauliflower cheese, which supposed to be for 2 people (meaning one tiny floret each). It had very little cheese flavour. My son questioned whether they were individual portions and we were told they were for 2 people so he asked for more, to be told no! That was the correct portion with the meal.
Such a shame. I’ve persevered because it’s local and a lovely spot with a great garden and play area, but it has no ambience inside and the food is poor
Sadly my last visit.

Our meal at the Fox and Pelican was overall quite disappointing. The food was lacklustre, and for the price felt very unreasonable. The portions for the childs pasta was ludicrously small, and £15 for a sad looking burger with some reheated frozen chips was a bit galling. However, the katsu oyster mushrooms were tasty. It felt very much like the kitchen had lost the love of cooking, which was a shame as the inside is nice and bright and clean. The service wasn't great either, with things like parmesan not appearing after 2 requests. Wouldn't go again.

Visited 18th May for my daughters birthday. Myself, husband and daughter sat in the dining area (but we did have a choice of bar or dining area) which was very pretty with ceiling decor of plants and fresh flowers on the table.
Food was very tasteful and I think our waitress was Amy who was very helpful and accommodating. A relaxed atmosphere and food and drinks came out promptly.
Toilets were spotless and the bar and restaurant too. I would recommend and we will be returning
Thank you to all the staff

The pub is a local one and we have been there before, went out for a family meal but wasnt impressed with the food options. choose food and one main dish wasnt available, and when our choices were given to us they were very dissapointing, not wanting to cause a fuss or complain, which just ruins a meal out - really dissappointed as it cost me £85.40 for the three of us for just three mains and drinks, seems very over priced. the pub is quite nice, but with flies and wasps in the conservatory... the staff were really friendly.

We visited today for a family lunch. Friendly waitress and all seemed well. However 2 of our group had roast lunches....really not good at all. Turkey was a tough slab of tastelessness, potatoes tough and chewy, and stuffing had 3 shards of bone in which made the meal really unpleasant.
We did let the waitress know however no attempt to recompense was made apart from a brief apology.
Sorry but this is really not good enough, the food here is not cheap and expectations were much higher. Fish and chips were fine!
We won't be visiting again....an embarrassing attempt to treat our family and a waste of money!

The best pie Ive ever had! And my husbands lamb was equally incredible.
I usual soak my veg in gravy-no need here. The veg alone were delicious enough alone, no extra gravy needed. We are both very big food fans and can highly recommend the food AND service here.
