We had a nice meal here for my Mums birthday......lovely decor and attentive service. the starters and desserts were beautiful and tasted great....only issue was with the mains !.....all the chicken dishes looked remarkably similar and the prawn main lacked flavour. still a nice restaurant,...More

On a visit one Thursday evening, restaurant far from busy, 5 tables occupied only, we were the last table of 4 by 10.00pm ish. Decor opulent, food very good but should be at the prices charged. Evening and meal let down by surly staff forgetting...More

I came here a year ago and had the most amazing 3 course dinner with great service, we decided to return last week for our wedding anniversary, we can't go wrong here we thought. As we arrived we walked in and the interior and atmosphere...More

I've just read some recent reviews that were poor so I thought I would give our recent experience of this restaurant by way of balance. We went there on a Wednesday night at the beginning of September with friends we were staying with who live...More

Food was lovely. We went for my nieces birthday. We were charged nearly £18 for a candle and 3 balloons without being asked. £15 for water and they charge separately for the chuntneys that come with the popadoms. Unexpected £60 a head, considering we did...More

We've been going to Le Raj once or twice a year for many years and the last few visits have been very disappointing. We won't be going back. The service has always been achingly slow, despite staff often outnumbering guests. But the food is also...More

Staff unwelcoming, rude and arrogant. Service painstakingly slow and hit and miss. Food...laughable. Nothing arrived in the right order, various dishes were luke warm and lacked any flavour. Tried this place five years ago after the hype and couldn't understand it. Thought we would give...More

This restaurant was highly recommend but unfortunately our party was very disappointed. Very slow service, even when one of us told our waiter that we were ready to order our food we still had to wait a long time after that. 2 of us ordered...More

Want with friends who have always said, how good this curry house was, starter was bland, with no salad or presentation, main meal was poor quality, small portions, food was not hot in temperature, as if it had been standing for some time.

It would be fantastic if the prices at Le Raj were lower. But then I guess the quality / quantity of the dishes produced wouldn't be as good ! I went here with 5 friends and we had an amazing meal. Normally I wouldn't listen...More

Description
Situated in the rather moneyed Surrey town of Epsom Downs, Le Raj has been something of a pioneer in the world of Indian dining. Among the first to insist on all natural ingredients, this award winning dining room is known for authentic and traditional Asian cuisine done to perfection, crafted by hand from the basics up with dairy produce made on site and fish and meat cut to suit each particular dish. And while Le Raj may not be known for providing fast food, the wait is well worth it, each dish tailor made for your order so you know its fresh and, if necessary, adapted for your needs. Additional to Indian classics, owner Enam Ali has taken inspiration from his mothers kitchen in Bangladesh, providing a fantastic overview of the home cookery of that region too. Food quality is of the utmost importance but Le Raj is almost as well known for its ambience - relaxed and comfortable but still with an appropriately upmarket look and feel throughout the entirely modern interior.
