Visited after Alton Towers. Its a lovely quirky pub with an excellent waitress -10/10 for service. Good choice on the menu, but portion size variable. Fish and chips at £12.95 is okay but the size of the fish was tiny, more like a child's portion, and the bread was out of a cheap thin packet loaf. Fishcake (1), chips and... More

This is a nice place to come and get some traditional home cooked pub grub. It's a family run pub according to the sign and it's got the feel of an independent place. We had a baby with us who was easily catered for using the baby change facilities in the ladies toilets.

We stayed here last year and had a fantastic visit. The food is brilliant and really good value, especially the breakfast which was quite possibly the best we've ever had at a B&B! All the staff were friendly and couldn't do enough for us! Highly recommend!

Nice food and good prices. Staff are friendly and keen to help. They sell old rosie which is a bonus!! Great for families with young kids too.

Went here on the spur of the moment whilst staying at Alton Towers and not being able to get a table before 9pm (too long to wait with the kids). Rang to check if a table booking would be needed and was told just to pop along. We had a steak which was cooked to perfection and a Jack Daniels... More

My family and I were at Alton towers for a few days, we wanted something different to eat so we had a meal at this pub. My youngest enjoyed making his own pizza and eating it, Three of us had steak and pepper sauce very tasty and the chips were lovely..we were warmly welcomed by the staff well worth a... More

Visited the blacksmiths Arms while staying at Alton Towers and being disappointed with the food on the site, a pleasant relaxing atmosphere with a wonderful attentive waitress. Not a bad choice on the menu, although we all picked the mixed grill which varied from plate to plate, pleasantly full afterwards with just enough room for a nice desert.

Stayed overnight in our motorhome (this pub is signed up to Britstops). Ordered ostrich burger and nachos. 45 minutes later waitress came out to say the chef had plated up and realised they'd cooked lamburger by mistake, and would be another 15 mins to serve. 25 more mins and the right burger came out, by which time I'd already finished... After going with here with friends a year or so ago and remembering it being quite nice, decided to go back when looking for somewhere to eat after our hotel sadly stopped serving dinner. This was just such a disappointing meal, and easily one of the worst meals I've ever had anywhere. Our Sunday roast was like a supermarket microwave... More

While camping in Alton, and after a loooonnngg day at Alton Towers we stopped into the Blacksmiths Arms for a pint for us and a juice for the kiddies. We decided to order food and we were sooo glad we did! Brilliant food. And so much of it for the price! Kids ate everything and loved a wee game of... More
