We decided to try The Ramblers Retreat for breakfast, and we were not disappointed. Despite there being no black pudding, for which they apologised, their Full Staffordshire was made up of quality local ingredients, all served promptly with a smile. They came out to ask if everything was ok, and it was. See you again soon. A beautiful place to... More

Friendly staff, lovely atmosphere, we stopped for lunch here after a country walk with our dog, this was no problem, as there are lots of little wooden summerhouses in the grounds, we bagged ourselves one of these ( good for Moody weather), had a very relaxed lunch of baguettes, only sorry I didn't have room for a pudding as they... What to do.... Pay to go around Alton towers with your older teenagers, going on the odd ride or waiting for them as they wait an hour and a half per ride.... Or drive a mile down the road. Rest, eat, drink a pint and walk it all off for three hours or so around the beautiful countryside.... No competition.... More

Nice enough meal in this beautiful spot but I have had better & fresher food. Vegetables not as fresh as I would like but ok. Also veg were uninspiring. No leafy veg just a tiny few peas, green beans and carrots. Gravy clearly not 'home made' very gravy mix ish & definitely no meat juices or love put into it.... More

The Ramblers Retreat is set in a great location for walking. There are a few tables inside, but the best way to enjoy it is to sit in the beautiful gardens. The food is home cooked, delicious and good value. The menu has the usual restaurant favourites and there is also a specials board. The staff are friendly and helpful.... More

This restaurant is surrounded by lovely scenery. In the surrounding area there are several walks to choose from. What makes this restaurant special is the home made food and generous portions. I recently had the lemon meringue pie. The pastry and topping were delicious. The lemon filling was a little too set for my own personal preference but I would... More

Always come to Ramblers Retreat with a hearty appetite, because all the food is of great, homemade quality, and in generous portions. Extra vegetables are happily provided, at no extra charge. The puds take a special pride of place, and their huge Lemon Meringue Pie is justifiably famous in the area. To make a change, I tried the choc mint... More

Dimmingsdale is one off there most delightful areas in Staffordshire for walking and wonderful scenery. The Ramblers is a must stop off for all those visiting the area. Limited menu/choice and not overly exciting, however, the food was good and the service very good. Enjoyable lunch but very hot in conservatory even though it was a mild day - uncomfortably so. Desserts very tempting 🙂
