What a gem. A proper family owned & run tea/ coffee room. Wonderful, whether or not you have rambled. Open during the day 6 days a week (closed Mondays) Take Note Chain cafés, this is how to do it!

What a lovely little place in a great area. We often stay at the chained oak bed and breakfast as we love to go walking round Alton. The ramblers retreat although often packed is a great little stop off point to rest your legs and scoff some great food.

We came to Alton towers for our daughters 5th birthday and looked for somewhere to meet friends and have some lunch. I contacted the owner to book a table who responded quickly and made it an easy process. We arrived and were so glad we found this place as it was faultless from start to finish. Food was great, very... More

After hearing good reviews of the Ramblers we made a visit for lunch , after our journey of nearly 20miles I was very disappointed with meal I had , burger chips and salad of which the quality of the burger was something you'd expect from a low grade van outside a night club at 3am in the morning . The... More

Enjoying this very well family run restaurant for years. Perfect for couples or to fill (as I have on four occasions) excellent menu with many local ingredients. The sweets are to die for! Save some room!

Had a lovely long walk with superb views. Finished the afternoon off with a Ramblers Platter, lemon meringue and tea. All was excellent.

Took a friend of mine for lunch on 26th August and very pleased with the outcome. I had been there on several occasions but was a first for my friend. Both of us enjoyed the meal and will certainly be calling again. Extremely good value too with 2×drinks, 2× main course's and 2× sweets £24

A wonderful setting for coffee and a bite to eat after walking in a stunning valley. Great outdoor spaces to dry off whilst having a drink and it doesn't matter how muddy your feet or paws are because there's an outdoor serving hatch. There's natural spring water for the dogs you can help yourself to and plenty of bowls for... More
